  1. I and my family are really just pleasure anglers and fair weather fisher people, we don't care what we catch although we do go for carp on our local lakes. Those lakes have Sunday matches and the amount of gear some of them have, I do wonder why they need all that stuff. All we ever take is rods, net, landing mat and bait and normally have a thoroughly lovely time.  They must need that amount of gear for a reason, especially when in a match I suppose.

Please could someone tell me why on earth the ruddy great poles that are cast practically to the opposite bank, just fish on the opposite bank  :default_biggrin: x

  2. I never met Iain either but we did PM a lot, he called himself my on line Granddad, who wouldn't be proud to have a Granddad like him?

He made an impact on my life. when I was going through trying times, he was there for me. I will never forget him

I also would like to say how very much I agree with Helen, we have a brilliant team who go the extra mile and give us such a brilliant forum

To Iain :default_xmas6: Our Pesky Mod

To Uncle Mike :default_xmas6: Another true gentleman

To Alan :default_xmas6: Another pesky Mod I had private conversations with and a complete gentleman. I don't think he was ever the same after he lost Tan, Hopefully, together again somewhere

  3. A very Merry Christmas to our boss and team. Thank you for all you do behind the scenes to allow us a safe, fun place to be a member of

I will raise a  glass to our dear Alan and Uncle Mike, proper gentlemen for sure. I feel honoured to have known them through this forum. Thank you

  4. I have had this when mud weighting. You choose a beautiful, nearly empty Broad to have a bit of alone time then a ruddy great cruiser does the same and so close to you that when the boat swings round your boats are almost touching

i am with you there Bucket, I have never dinted a boat, I've not hit a tree or lost fishing gear hitting said trees or anything :default_biggrin:

Kate that last photo is stunning.

Have a lovely day, I think it's going to be a sunny one

  5.  I've lost count over the years of the amount of people I've seen messing about on boats with no life jackets, children included.

Hopefully, future newbies will read this, realise the importance of wearing life jackets and how it could save their lives if ever they were to find themselves overboard

    Well done Kate

  6. Goodness me Kate, I am so pleased you are okay. Thank you for posting, it really is a stark reminder about life jackets for always but even more important when you are solo

If you wanted a swim, I find a nice indoor swimming pool, with life guards and a warm changing room would have been much better for you :default_biggrin:

    Take care and stay safe

  7. I enjoy this forum for many reasons. We can discuss anything from boats to health but what I think is so important is the colourful, funny characters who are members

  8. Best time of day on a boat on the Broads. The sun rises can be beautiful can't they. Sitting outside on the bow as you watch it rise with a steaming mug of coffee while the mist dances on the surface, stunning

  9. I remember seeing the sign when I was a little girl, it's only been the last few years we have ventured up there once the sign went

What an absolutely lovely post from Old Wusser, thank you and thank you Mr Nog for another lovely tale. It's a joy reading of members adventures in Winter time

  10. Each to their own of course, I have always loved our great pubs. Where I live we have lost a few in the last couple of years. To see a beautiful old country pub turned into flats is another terrible loss for our culture and History and takes away some of the character of those little villages and towns

You can't beat that lovely feeling you get when you walk into an old Inn with a roaring fire and friendly locals

We use those pubs around here and on the Broads when we are there as much as we can. If we don't use them we will lose them. Unfortunately in these trying times with money short and people struggling, it's no wonder we are losing so many along with local shops and businesses  x

  12. My parents are no way in a situation that Helen and her family find themselves in and what many of you are going through

As you probably know my dad is an amputee and has been diagnosed with Parkinson's. My mum is his carer, I do whatever I can to ease their load. The hardest thing for my mum is seeing the strong, confident man she married becoming unable to care for himself. She is not getting any younger so things are difficult for her too both physically and emotionally. This topic will be extremely helpful

Thank you for starting this thread x

Excuse me but where did I say I argued with the customer.  As I said, the customer is always right.  Advising him to try and save money is not right then?

You didn't argue with the customer and you are right, customers are always right although they're not all of the time, they are a ruddy pain :default_biggrin: I don't normally get involved with this topic, a car gets me from A to B even then I still manage to get lost :facepalm:x

  14. How awful, another pub closed. I do hope someone can take it over and keep it as a pub and not turn it into housing. Ranworth used to be a lovely place to stop for lunch and a drink or two

Our pubs are an institution and part of our History we seem to be losing x

  15. I have to say I am so grateful for this forum and all the work the team put into it to keep it running and a safe place to be. It's especially precious for members to keep up with what's going on in Broadland for those that can't be there as much as they would like to be

Like most members I just log on and read, type a few posts and that's it, without a thought as to what goes on behind the scenes

    Thank you so much x
