  1. seen a video of a convoy of low loaders, loaded with what looks like new moulds at stalham.. anything exciting Clive ??? They sure look too big for thr broads...
  2. hi all, we have booked broads suncharm for April 2014... I have to say I do like the look of swallow and haven't been south I years. we are in the process of negotiating a deal on a boat. that is based down south and my brother wants to keep her on the Southen rivers..
  3. some how I've managed to talk my future wife ( bless her ) into honeymooning on the Norfolk broads next year. sent a email to the guys at Richos re some special request, the response I got was brilliant. nothing seem to much trouble for them !!! Thanks guys top job.
  4. Hi dan, I kind of asked the same question a few weeks back, we had a holiday a few months back provided by first choice to Egypt !! All inclusive and I mean all inclusive a good four star complex, Admittedly booked last minute, just me and my partner cost £680 add the car parking @ £40 total total £720... I'm going on my honeymoon next April on the broads ( how I got away with that one il never know ) cost for four nights £700, yeah I might get a bit back on fuel. I own my own haulage firm and I struggle to understand the fuel cost on the broads we buy red diesel and I can assure you it doesn't cost £1,35 a ltr at wholesale ( profiteering ) and il argue that with anyone. You can still hire a boat on the broads that is 30 yrs old that still demands a price tag in the school hols of over 1k a week ( really ) a four night break at whinchealsea beach holiday park in a platinum plus caravan three weeks ago cost me £94 no hidden or extra cost.. ( there letting season is as long as yards on the broads ie march to nov ) I'm actively looking to buy a boat as I personally think yards are taking the pee.. yeah I get it that new boats cost loads, but there still be here in thirty years earning money... sorry if my comments are negertive but I know I'm not the only one who feels the same.
  5. Hi guys, has anyone ever hire one of city boats cruisers ? How did u find the service and standard of boat. I'm thinking of using them.. Thanks in advance
  6. Thanks Clive, it was ment a bit tounge in cheek.. But if you have the time, that would be great. Look forward to it. andy
  7. Lol Clive... spoke to Paul this morn I should be up next week.. can I have a build shed tour as part of the poss deal wink wink ??
  8. Thanks for the replys and advise, have to say they were my thoughts on the orange. I could live with the decks and the strips on superstructure. But I would have to paint the front and rear wells and seeing they are probably the most used parts of the decks I feared this would end up being an annual job such a shame as she really is it tip top condition and I would want her kept like that. Back to the drawing board, oh and my comments area personal opinions and in no way a criticism of royalls boat yard..
  9. hi guys, we have been looking at buying a boat for some months now, and two have come up that we are very keen on. one is royall velvet but to be honest its the huge amount of orange that is putting us off. the boat itself is in fantastic condition, I haven't spoken to the royalls but I think the boat was moulded that colour. I would want to paint all, well most of it out. is this advisable ? to be fair she is at the top end of what we want to spend,so wouldn't the cost of having to re paint every couple of years.the other boat is san evita which I think has been painted green, ( im sure clive will put me right on that ) anyway just wanted some advise on painting gel coat.. thanks andy
  10. hi Clive, I think that's why your yards wins the praise they do !! iv always found Richardson's to be flexible and are only to willing to go that bit further for there customers. customer service in my opinion has come on in leaps and bounds in the last ten years from all yards. I still don't understand the resistant's from yards / owners to discount there boats, surely earning any form of revenue from your fleet, is better then none ( in such hard times ). but I guess we have to accept Clive and Andy's views. I must say though since I posted this topic iv had emails from all the big yards offering me discounts, special offers !!! ( which is a discount ) etc. anyway lets hope that next season brings better things for the broads.
  11. after visiting the broads last week, to view royall oak. very impressed with the boat and chatting to Sarah royall, she told us how tough things are this year for the yards. it certainly looks that way if Barnes webcam is to be believed, so many of there new boats sitting about. the thing I don't understand is why don't the yards start discounting instead of watching the seasons go down the pan.. im being bombarded by Thompson's holidays over the discounts they have on offer this summer. the yards have spent the money on winter maintenance and have put tax on the boats, so get them working, surely its better to earn a pound then not.
  12. pass the bucket !! only kidding.. my cliam to fame is i nearly ran him over outside the shed opposite the offices.. he was on his phone and seemed to be in a rush. it was turn around day lol.. have had the pleasure of speaking to his dad and what a lovely fella he is aswell, great threads and insights into the going ons at stalham clive, .. from a happy and loyal customer..
  13. good news clive, i hope you guys address the seating probs on the flybridge.. herbert woods have tried and kinda got it right, on there alpha moulds. faircraft and there sovereign fleet ( nice sociable area ) are pretty much spot on. look forwards to your version.. plz dont go down the road of garden furniture on the roof..
  14. hi clive, shes looking really good, what do you intend to do with the plug ?? will it be cut up and thrown away ? i kinda remember you mentioning some time back that there maybe a fly bridge version in the future. or would that mean buildind a whole new plug.. anyway its great to see the new fleet getting there and love the idea of the moonfleet yard, may just have to give them a go
