  1. just watching the video of the launch again clive, is broadsman the longest boat big foot has liffted ? what a fantastic bit of kit that this, did you have it built or did you build it yourself ? the hydraulic workings reminds me of an old 6 leg ( 6 wheel ) foden skip lorry my dad used on a contract for fords at dagenham, scraping damage body pannels from the plant.
  2. hi clive, fantastic really smart, must of been a big weight of your mind when she sailed out the yard yesterday you can get some sleep at night now i think you were right about the blue hull she looks really smart all in white with them window. have you insolated the stern seat to protect it from the heat of the engine.
  3. ho seaboater, i couldnt agree more, my worry is that now cheap weekend breaks to spain etc etc are harder to find large groups of guys and girls will venture on to the broads, as they have outstayed their welcome in many of our seaside resorts ( i live in one and am only to aware of the problems that can be caused) but i think the yards (and im not pointing the finger at anyone yard) need to take a much harder line with large parties. we are all aware of the booze culture in this country but to ignore it and brush things under the carpet is a big mistake. i dont advocate banning single sex groups or large parties but big hurdles need to be put in place to try and deter things like i witneesed from happening time and time again, yards should not allow crews to depart from their yards whilst openly drinking this to me is totally unexceptable and is only opening the door for future issues. im not trying to knock anyone or any yard but we hear to many reports around the river network of this kind of issue and in the last several years i have seen an increase of this type of behaviour. i also think this is the right place to have a healthy debate regarding this issues as this is a forum full of folk ( both young and old) that enjoy and love the norfolk broads.
  4. hi, i saw this book in the gift shop at potter the other week and had a quick look through would of brought it but didnt have enough money on me at the time, looked like a good read, shame clive couldnt get his dad to do the same now that would be a good read,
  5. thanks dan, i can see why she lets so well she really is fitted out to a very high standard and looks very comfy, after having hired suncharm three times and enjoyed the comfort that she offers my wife wont let me book the older boats that means i can only afford two trips a year now
  6. hi clive, have to agree with dans comments she looks fantastic, love the windows in the stern of the boat and the rear seat (great idea) the tv dome dosnt look out of place un like some iv seen. will you be using the same kind of fenders on her as you have on your other recent builds. i wonder how many calls your get in the comming weeks from yards trying to get you to sell them one ( if you havnt had them allready) best of luck with her clive. id just like to say thanks clive for taking the time and effort in sharing this thread with us all iv seen some of the times of the day you have posted things but please keep it comming with the progress of the single level boat, thats if you can find time. andy
  7. thanks guys for the info, we have decided to hire her for our spring trip next year.
  8. sadley i have to agree with most of whats been said here, i have had two trips this year to the broads and both have been bliyted by this kind of behaviour. the first was even before we had left the yard with a group of guys openly drinking large amounts of larger outside the recpetion of the boat yard,( loads of swearing water taking etc whilst families etc where checking in ) the staff took no action at all. second trip not a lot better really. i have to agree that the the bigger yards imho seem to turn a blind eye to this problem ( AND IT IS A PROBLEM) iv seen it with my own eyes, a boat left our yard and followed us up the river( same group of guys we had seen in tescos buying large amounts of beer )with a 6ft blow up dool straped to the front of the boat( great pair of t**s and a big mouth) didnt really want my grand daughter seeing that tho. phoned the yard spoke to the staff they said they would deal with it (great) sunday morning came along a quite trip down to wroxham was ruined by guess who ( doris the blow up doll ) and her chums, they played bumper cars with their boats or should i say the yards boats all the way to wroxham. we broke down in horning the next morning and had to call the yard out, the guy that came out to fix our problem told us that they had caught up with the guys on dorises boat in wroxham on the sat night and had delt with the problem. to late really not only had they ruined mine and my families day/s on the river but they had cooked the engine on one of the boats ( who cares big yard whats an engine to them) and i no for a fact we were many who had complained to our yard about the antics of this group. well not that it matters but i will no longer be using this yard. rant over
  9. hi guys, we were moored behind royall oak the other week and was very impressed with the way the boat looked, got chatting to the couple on board and they kindly showed us around the boat. very smart indeed got home checked on royalls web site and shes fully booked for the rest of the season so we have now decided to book for april/may next year spoke to nigel royall (very nice guy by the way) but forgot to ask if the engine is mounted in the stern or under the helmsmen seat in saloon.doh has anyone hired this boat before or got any info, thanks in advance andy
  10. hi clive, are all the new boats your planning to build over the next few years going to be fitted out to such a high spec in terms of equipmemt on board or will offer different levels of spec and price band.
  11. the second mould is sitting outside barnes workshops or it was on sunday morning waiting for them to start work on her. brinks quartet i think they said shes going to be called. i saw the new alpha build at ferrys yard sunday morning aswell and marshman is spot on she is fitted to a very high standard, the guy said they hope to have her in the water in the next week or so. anyone who is looking for a large family boat could do no worse then pay royalls a visit as royall continental is up for grabs at the end of this season no idea if their planning to replace her or they are scaling down their fleet.
  12. hi guys, if this lead is allowed by hire yards to power such things as hair dryers etc on their boats, this could be the answer to by boating prob for sept. iv seen a really nice boat that i want to hire but swmbo loved the boat untill she found out she could use her hairdryer etc, please let me no how you get on with it bill thanks
  13. didnt mean to post that like that bill, using my new phone il get the hang of of
  14. saw her yest morn bill in the shed lotx going on, dosnt look that far off now, looks very smart indeed, she gonna be a big hit iv no doubt on that, the guys mentioned some of the stuff their fitting on the boat very impressed indeed, also saw the newly re fitted viscount in the basin looked very smart as well clearly spent a lot of money on the one as well clive, would of booked viscount for sept but no 240 volt for her indoors hair dryer etc, sham

  19. hi clive, id forgot about that back seat, such a simple but very practical idea you see so many holiday makers sitting on the back of boats as they go along, now they can be a bit more comfy. good to see you have plans for so many new boats over the cumming year or two clive and the addition of the french boats, guess il have to start working away thro the newer boats now
  20. hi guys, well will soon be packing up for our second trip to the broads in the spring and we cant wait. iv been watching the wroxham web cams and it seems to me their appears to be more boats about on the river then last year, checked on hoseasons web site and on a few others rickos royalls etc and all the yards all seem to be well booked up for april. god i hope we dont have to fighting for mooring places this early in the season. is this the norm for april?
  21. looking very smart indeed clive you must be pleased with the way she looks ? im sure your guys will have her ready in time i seem to remember you mentioning on here before you had brought three more moulds are they for later years or will you start working on them anytime soon ?
