  1. oh well thanks dan for the dose of salt in the wound re broadsman but then i guess suncharm for a week in may will have to do look forward to your report. and no im not jelous
  2. hi dan im sure your right, iv given up hope of talking my sister in law into booking broadsman for our sept trip next year my brothers up for it but alas she wont budge and she wears the trousers in that house so i might just wait and see how the dual steer turns out.
  3. just noticed on silverlines web site that their adding a couple of ex, le boat crusiers to their fleet for next season, a brooms sedan model and a dual steer model the same as the brinks jazz. really like the the compact dual steer model and hope silverlines one is better turned out then the brinks boat. we had a look on the jazz last april and must say i didnt think brinks craft had done much to the boat, looked quite scruffy inside and out.
  4. hi james was down at the wrc in sept, havnt been their for some time but have read all the negertive things said about the site. well must say we loved it, the new lodges (not sure how long they ve been their) are really smart and set in nice surroundings the shop, how thats not an improvment on the old one is beyond me the showers all look great. so well done you guys. still got the duck poo prob tho
  5. hi clive. thanks for the updates. the picture of your son standing next to the plug and the guy working on the bow makes the whole thing look massive. thats gonna cost a fortune to more at the ferry inn still seems like their loads more to do. are you still confident of having the first one in the water for easter next year. are the shower/bathroom sink mouldings made by you or do you buy them in and build the rest off the shower room round them ? thanks again
  6. hi dan, long overdue this one imho. big fan of most alpha designs been waiting for it, i read somwhere that they had 16 advanced orders for this mould, im sure its going to be another big hit with us hirers.
  7. hi barry, glad i took the time to catch up on this thread. the wookmanship is fantastic i really wish i had the skills. like everyone ellse cant wait to see the finished boat on the water. good luck with the rest of the restoration and like you say it really must be a labour of love. talking of restoration mr richardson any new photos of bv..
  8. hi clive, you say independent of the stalham fleet, is this the re birth of the horizon name in boat building.
  9. hi guys, great pics of the broads again, but carol i luv your photo of lants store with the sign blocking out the letter l (ants store) what a great name for the shop at ludham bridge
  10. hi allaboard, just had a look on NBD site they really are going for it this winter. do like the lay out of majesty. theirs going to be loads of new boats to pick from for next season. just like the old days
  11. blakeseasons sounds good to me wonder how this one will fan out, i think hoseasons would be a huge name to loose.
  12. barry it not just norfolk mate, we run a small haulage firm in essex and travel all over the contry and the standard of driving is dreadfull, everyone needs to be somwhere yeaterday... biggest problem i see on a daily basis is selfish driving the im all right jack f**k you attitude. seen it cause so many accidents its un real. its not more cameras we need, its us as drivers need to plan our routes better and allow enough time for the journey..
  13. hi dan, thats a big risk their taking pulling away from blakes but i hope it works out well for them, we were up at potter early april on concerto and we had a good look round the fleet and it looked very smart.unlike rickos who had loads of boats out hb had loads of boats in their yard.
  14. hi dan, so have H,W gone with hoseasons for next year? or are they going it alone ? good to see such a young yard like drl building new boats. must be a sign of the good times at this yard. well done to them
  15. thats a fantastic shot col, see whats ment by mackeral sky.
  16. i dont really like sedan style boats, but it does look very smart. are they very popular with the hirers then clive? thats a mighty fine CAD program youve got their clive, wouldnt mind a go on that myself
  17. hi clive, thanks again for the updates. what happens to the plug once youve taken the mould do you just break it up and disspose of it or do you keep it ? will you mould the first 3 or 4 boats stright off and then move on to the next version. still cant believe the sheer amount of work that has gone in to this guess you must have shares in nurofen clive dose look good tho clive you must be chuffed.
  18. i think next season will be great for us hire boat users. theirs more new boats being biult over the 12/24 months then i can remember for a long time i personally think this is great news. the new designs from rickos, ferry marina and alphas new design plus some old favs. the one thing that puzzles me is why yards like royalls and summer craft dont up date their fleets. both yards are first class operations and im sure if they offered newer boats they would be snaped up. with their current fleets letting really well surley they have the income to re invest in new boats,or is it a case their happy with the fleet theyve got which are very nice boats( im not knocking the yards) anyone feel the same?
  19. hi jimbo, past her last week she was just comming off breydon at burgh castel. looked very smart not my kind of boat but very smart. hope she does well for the yard.
  20. glad i didnt get muddy feet then, would love some updated pics clive if you get a mo. i guess shes got her new top hat (canopy). ?
  21. hi clive, and thanks for the reply we really did enjoy the boat and will be back in april. see your point re the curtains. but the inside curtain is a better idea. the guy that took us on our trail run was one of the chippys who had worked on the boat during the build and you could see he was proud of his work and the boat. good to have a work force like that. the boat was moored just across from your wet shed and i couldnt quite see B.V is she finished and have you been out in her yet?. was going to have a walk round to the shed to take a peek but didnt think it would be ok as its private moorings. wanted to see dans handy work with the paint brush aswell.. only joking dan..
  22. hi smokesmate (andy) il have too keep this short and sweet as it seems iv got a hard drive prob with my lap top. suncharm was great for the two of us loads of space ultra modern galley with all mod cons.the shower again was first class. the heating system is brilliant instant hot water, we found the radiators worked well and made thoses chilly morns nice and comfy the hot air blower in the saloon wasnt that good. the rear cabin is a really good size with loads of space, the island type bed was nice and a big plus is not being stuck half under the deck. the saloon again is a good size with a nice flat screen tv and hi fi all worked really well. had too use the pull out bed in the saloon due my snoring and i found it more comfy then the rear double just my opinion tho. we have hired two over boats of this design braemore and swordfish and imho suncharm is streets ahead. boat handling she drives just like any other floating barth tub but iv hired so many now im used to them, suncharm seems be to under powered but this might be down to a small throtal problem we had. just a few minus points and it would be good to hear from clive if any other customers have said anything. one wardrobe for 5, felt their was enough room aboard to of built another one. the white roll down window covers on the front screens. didnt like them at all, they hadnt been cleaned on turn around and were pretty grim didnt discover this untill the second night.pop on curtains inside would of been better.( you need to make sure their cleaned clive, the guys on sunray 2 next to us had the same prob) and thats about it really. the service from rickos and the welcome from everyone at the yard was as good as ever we were away early about 1.30 i think. my wife totally loved this boat for its layout, standard of fittings, well just about everything really and i wiould have to agree with her. she spent many an hour behind the wheel and shes never done that before, she even took us out of our moorings at geldstone lock using the bow thruster . we have today re booked for a week this time on the same boat for next april and cant wait..
  23. well here goes never done this before so please excuse my spelling and grama. our hols really started on sunday with a slow drive up to horning to book our table at the new inn for that night. arriving in horning we took a slight detour up ferry road to see what had been done to the pub. WOW!! we were totally shock at the sheer amount of traffic trying to park at the pub, the carpark was full so tried to park in the swiming pool car park next to the ferry. we didnt even manage to get out of the car before we were moved on by a member of staff from the pool.( so much for local firms helping each other, the pool car park was empty) anyway park in the lane and walked up to the pub, the place was packed never seen it so busy. had a quick look round inside the carvery table and all the veg looked really nice loads of folk eating. we were really happy to see the old place open and bursting at the seems again, just how we remembered it, off down to the new inn which was much qiuteter then our trip in april guess thats down to the ferry being open again table booked for 8pm now off to the wroxham hotel to check in. thats where il leave any further comment on the wroxham hotel.. returned to the new inn for our meal to find gus and his chums having a few pints out on the decking ( nothing changes) so we decided to eat outside ann ( my wife) had the cromer crab and prawns i had smoothered chicken we both enjoyed the food.. had a couple more pints and let the wife drive back to wroxham ( i no im too good to her letting her drive ) back to the place i wont mention again for a night cap and some well earnt snoring. did you pack your ear plugs dear.
