  1. :wave hi all been talking to my auntie, & found out that she's also got the boating bug, but she prefers sailing, usually off the cowes island, & a few other relatives also like boating, & i thought i'd got the bug off of my parents, how many of you have gotten the boating bug from YOUR parents or relatives ? & do your offspring feel the same way about boating as you do. :Stinky lori
  2. hi lori, will be passing through norwich on the way to stalham on the 12th sept if thats the same day as you your more then welcome to a lift, as long as as you both dont do the same as my other half and take your whole wardrobe on hol, :naughty: let me no if we can help though

:wave hi andy thanks for the offer, but we don't come down til 19th sept, but i'm sure we'll find a way there, but thanks for the thought though. lori cheersbar

  3. Hi Lori,

I recently used Dolphin taxis on Prince of wales road to get me from the train station to Horning which cost me £15, other taxis are normally £17 from north Norwich.

:wave hi clive thanx for info, have you got a number for them ? looking forwards to coming down, see you in 3 weeks yay. lori :Stinky

  4. :wave hi everybody, thankyou so much for all your help, did'nt think it was going to be so hard to get to richardsons, it'll make me think in future, i wish i could drive lol, as we've got a beautiful red rover75 sat on the drive , but i just have'nt got the nerve, even though ive got a provisional licence,GRrrrr. what a coward  we'll probably be going to wroxham at some point so i'll give you a wave on webcam. lori :-)
  5. :wave hi all my sister had a look on web, & it looks like it's going to cost us £26 for a taxi from norwich to stalham, OUCH, has anybody been to stalham from norwich ? & if so which way is best to get there ? would we be better getting train to wroxham then a taxi to stalham ? or is there any busses that we could get ? any help would be appreciated. lori :Stinky
  6. No idea what leaky old tub you are hiring Loz!:grin:

:wave hi littleboat we're hiring san remo from richardsons, i hope it does'nt leak lol, but no matter what boat you hire, moisture always seems to spread to the rest of your boat when you shower onboard. lori :Stinky

  7. :wave hi all not long now, yey, only 4 weeks to go, can't wait, a full week away from victor meldrew, i mean hubby lol, what i'd like to know is, is there any showers on the north side of the broads & if so where ? there's nothing worse than having to live with damp on your boat in autumn from the showers, it seems to spread all round your cabin, lori :Stinky
  8. I would leave Reedham 1 hour before slack water GH. (That's at LW GH which they give you at Reedham).

That will put you at GH at about slack + 30mins, by when the Bure tide will be with you.

You'll have to punch a bit of flood across Breydon but it's worth it to get the flood up the Bure.

 hi john thanks, i'll try to remember that. :Stinky lori

  9. :wave hi john the thing i'm not too sure about is when to go over breydon, a boatyard told us to go an hour after the tide time from acle, but how long do you leave it if you're coming from reedham with it being closer to breydon water ? :Stinky lori
  10. :wave Aaahh she's beautiful, a little ball of fluff, it's a pity they don't stay that way i remember when my suki was a kitten , she used to like sleeping in the cupboard where the gas meter was, maybe she found the noise soothing :lol: lori
  11. :wave OH dear neil this is going to be a very sad day indeed, the phrase sticks & stones comes to mind, but i always thought a forum was to be able to express how you feel, & if other people don't like what you've put then they should'nt read it, i really hope you'll reconsider leaving us, but if you've made up your mind i hope you still pop back some time & still come to some of the meets, & keep smiling neil & karen. loribear ;)
  12. Thanks guys ,but.....i don,t think the raf close at weekends!!... :norty:

:wave your right pilots do work at the weekends, we were just down the road from raf coningsby & 2 spitfires & a lancaster i think it was, were just coming back from somewhere at about 2.30 pm on a sunday, & this was about a month ago. & what a beautiful sound it was too. lori

  13. :wave hi neil you must have sore fingers writing all that lot, it sounds like you had a really nice time, i know what you mean about being sad about having to wait til another year, i always feel sad when i have to leave, me & my sister always have a silly little ritual when we come on our hols, we usually go back to the boat yard on the last night & then get up early & take the boat out again for a last spin just to say goodbye :cry but we are coming in september for our hols & looking forwards to it. cheersbar lori
  14. :wave thanx for the info guys, cheersice slice , & don't worry goodall i won't go past the posts, i'm not that stupid, ive seen too many other people do it, & seen the consequences of it. lori :Stinky
  15. :wave hi all me & sis have hired san remo for a week in september, from the 19 th so if you see us give us a wave, but the one thing i'm puzzled about is the tide, had a look at a tide chart & it said that on the 25th there is a neap tide,so what is a neap tide & how will that affect us if we go across breydon ? loribear 
  16. :wave hi john i'm afraid new planes don't do anything for me, it's the old ones i love to hear, we went to woodhall spa near coningsby & sat next to the river witham i think it was, & we saw 2 spitfires & a huge plane that looked like a lancaster bomber coming back from somewhere, but hubby said it was'nt one of those as it only had 2 engines, so not sure what it was, but it sounded beautiful ,listening that lovely roar of those deep engines sends shingles down your back, :P lori
  17. :wave hi all the funniest thing i miss from when i was a youngster was seeing men in teddyboy outfits & haircuts, those skinny trousers, don't know how on earth they got into them, & seeing women in those pretty big dresses which had alot of lacy underwear under them. & the big hair styles, it must have been a nightmare trying to look nice all the time on a boat :lol: lori
  18. îž hi john they would certainly have to give the steel boats a wide berth, especially if it was drunks driving them, i know how scary it is when you're on the same river as the barges, when we borrowed dads boat & the engine stopped near the end of harecastle tunnel, but we managed to get it going again, but it did get us worried as it was a VERY long tunnel & had to have air pumped in first before you could go in. lori 

  19. indeed, you were spot on with the cause, the reason we can sort a problem like this is that everything is aready there including materials and staging etc so there is no waiting. the hulls on the boats are fairly simple as they are fairly flat and tend to split when a large hole is made so the old bit can be used to acheive the right shape, also if the hull is painted then it can all be blended in quite well.

when a toe rail is smashed it is literally smashed so we replace with spares, we keep spares mainly for the Bountys and Horizons in the form of front and rear decks and front peaks (in different colours ;) ) and a few bow guards, transom corners, peaks and sunroofs vents etc for other boats.

:wave hi clive i bet you're glad that hire boats are fibreglass these are'nt you, otherwise it would be a costly job to repair them, how did you used to go on when they were wooden, was it a hard job to fix them back again ? lori :Stinky
