  2. I found on line today a pub in Wroxham called The Shed it's on the peninsula across from between Brinks and the hotel. Has anyone been there and if so what is it like? In this weather I wish I was up on the boat cruising on the broads. To all you up there enjoy and it look good for next week also. Regards Marina
  3. Hello Alan and Tan, I hope you have a great time out there on south river. We put our burgees on our Sweet Kingfisher, but we had to put it on the bow of the boat. She is moored back at Brundall at the old Eastwood moorings, but at the moment it is more like a building site. Have a good time and look out for Alan as he will be out on our boat from Sat for a week. Regards Marina
  4. Hello Grace, oh yes we cruised from Loddon to Reedham for lunch at the ship and then cruised slowly back to Brundall and it was so warm. We got a good tan from it. Alan is having her from Saturday and then we are back up 1st August just for the weekend, then our main two week hols for the first 2 weeks of September. Have you booked any hols up on the broads yet? Regards Marina
  5. Hello Moderator, Oh yes there was some very heavy rain today. Over night we had heavy rain and before 8am we had more heavy rain and we left Brundall around 11am and on the way back to Kent more rain. It got so bad that you could not see the car in front of you. It was hard on your eyes while driving. It's sad being back at home. Being on the boat and out on the river was heaven. Roll on the 1st August we will be back up on the boat. To all of those who are out on the broad have a great time cruising. Regards Marina
  6. Hello Grace, we have just had a great weekend on Sweet Kingfisher and the weather yesterday ( Saturday ) was very hot. We got a good tan. Boat is great. Graham at Maffett has done a wonderful job on her. The only thing is today we had got 30 mins away from Brundall, when I noticed I had not put my rings on and they were on the boat, so we had to turn around and head back to Brundall. Alan will have a good week next week on the boat. The broads was busy over the weekend and lots of new boat went out yesterday from Brundall. Oh well back to work tomorrow. Regards Marina
  7. Ok you lot. Please don't encourage Alan it won't take much. We have waited all this time to get the boat repaired, so I want to enjoy her for the rest of this season without having to spend out more money. By the way Alan you want a week of peace and quite on our babe. Bring on the weekend and let the sun shine . Everyone have a great weekend. Regards Marina
  8. Hello Newbie Welcome. Are you looking for an electrician at Lowestoft or Beccles, please? Regards Marina
  9. Hello Moderator, we will only be on the boat till Sunday, but we will be on her for the first two weeks of September. Then we take her up onto north river for the first week and then the second week on south river. We have another weekend the first weekend of August. Grace, its funny to see Alan and the boat on the web cams at Wroxham and Oulton when he has the boat. Roll on Friday / Saturday. Regards Marina
  10. Alan, we will put it on with ours on it. So one burgees is us and two burgees will be for you two. How's that? Mum
  11. Hello Grace, thanks it will be great to be out on the river and Alan wants the boat the following weekend for a week. Good old mum and dad. When are you up here next? Regards Marina
  12. Hello All, at last we will be back out on the river. Graham at Maffett has repaired our poor girl. So this Saturday we will bring her up from Loddon to Brundall. We can't wait. So far we have only been out on her in May, when we went up to Horning for the boat show. Graham has told us we have a new boat there. Roll on Friday / Saturday. If you are down at Loddon on Friday look out for us. We will be flying our NBN Burgees on our journey back on Saturday. Regards Marina
  13. Hello BuffaloBill, Yes dear old Eastwoods has gone and yes Barnes Brinkscraft has taken over. We are one of the private boats moored there. Our boat has been away for repairs and we are hoping to return back to Brundall this weekend coming. Regards Marina
  14. Hello Grace and All, I agree when we hired. On the last afternoon we would clean the boat, the fridge and the cooker. In side and out. Then in the pub, which normally would be the Woods Ends, as we hired out of Brundall. Some people are so dirty and do not respect what is not theirs. That is why we will not hire our boat out to others ( apart from our son Alan ). Regards Marina
  15. Hello Stuart, no i was not a where. We will tape it. Thanks for the infor. Marina
  16. Hello Grace, why do you go to Richardsons why not try Brundalls boats. Silverline Marine and Alphacraft are both very good boat hire. How did I / we get up to the broads? Hubby (Ian) had been up on the broads back up in the 60 and early 70's and he wanted us as a family to go boating, but I kept saying no to boating, as I and the kids could not swim and I am scared of water. It was Alan who started boating on the broads back in the mid-late 90ish. He asked us up for a day on his hire boat, which I said ok and guest what, I loved it. The next year we had a week on the broads with Alan and his friend and then the follow year we had a two week holiday with the boys. That was a wonderful two weeks. The following year we were both 50, so we hired a boat on our own out of Hickling. Alan was on a Martham boat. After that we started hiring from Sliverline at Brundall. We were hiring twice a year. Then in 2009 at the London Boat Show (we went with Alan not to buy a boat) we brought a new boat. She was a Shetland 4+2 and we called her Little Kingfisher. She was too small for Alan to use. To this day I still cannot swim and still scared of water, but I love being on the boat and boating. So how do I do all my jobs on the boat? No idea. I am missing not being out on the river. Please let me know next time you are up. We have our two holiday on the boat for the first two weeks of Sept. All the best. Kind regards Marina
  17. Hello Grace, so how do you enjoy the broads apart from this site? Regards Marina
  18. Hello Grace, Oh yes I have embarrassed Alan in the past, but when he is skipper on my / our boat I have to behave (not). As for getting under Beccle bridge that we would not try. Any news on what is happening on the broads, as we still can't get out on the river or at Brundall? Regards Marina
  19. Hello All, still say hello to us when you pass us on the river. The oldies is us and yes Alan also has our boat out on the river, so say hi to them as well. The boat is still at Loddon for repairs. Fingers crossed to have her back soon. Regards Marina
  20. Hello to you all and thanks for the information on Pubs on the Norfolk Broads from the 60 / 70's. My husband will be really interested in all your information. As for The Locks, we are unable to get there by boat, our boat is too large to get under the old road bridge at Beccles. We have been there by road, which is just as interesting by road as by river. We have an Alpha 29 ( exhire) she is called Sweet Kingfisher and our last boat was a Shetland 4+2 called Little Kingfisher. If you see us, please give us a wave.
  21. Hello To All, I am not sure if anyone can help with this. Hubby was up on the Broads in the 60 / 70. What he has been trying to find is information of Pubs on the Broads going back to the 60 / 70. We ourselves have been coming up for the past 10 years, but without luck all the book shops we have visited could not help. One pub we have found is The Locks at Geldeston and he remembers Sue the dear old lady at The Locks and the way it was. So can anyone else remember pubs like this on the Broads? If anyone could help Hubby with his quest that would be great. Many thanks. Kind regards Marina
