  2. Can anyone tell me if there is any news regarding the rubbish issue either on south or north river? Regards Marina
  3. Alan you have done a great job today on the boat. If and when you feel you need a weekend away Sweet Kingfisher is there for a run out on the river . Regards Marina ( Mum )
  4. I think it is a great idea, but if it cold I want to be at home in my arm chair in front of an open fire. Last year over Easter we had ice covering the boat and frost on all moorings and the night had been so cold our bodies / feet would not get warm. We will be waiting to read your Christmas story . Regards Marina
  5. Hello John and Mary-Jane, thanks for your advise. I have PM Jon to night. I like to get things organized before we go up for our hols. Next week I need to make a few telephone calls, regarding overnight moorings and if we will be able to park the car at our base in Brundall the old Eastwoods Marina, as there's no car park at the moment. Thanks for all your help and enjoy cruising and if you are out on the yare next saturday we should be out on the river about 11:30 - 12 noon. Regards Marina
  6. Hi Iain, our last boat a Shetland 4+2 could just get us under the bridge and we did get to Dilham, also the cross keys is a really nice pub, but watford bridge we have never moored. I have entered Jon number on my mobile, so thanks for that. And Alan you were there in July, when it is busier than when we go up and we can never get moored there. Regards Marina
  7. Yes, sorry we will be heading up to north river. Regards Marina
  8. We have never moored at Wayford Bridge, as the BA moorings is all ways full. This year we want to go to visit places we have never been and one is Wayford. We are to high to get under the bridge. Is there any where at Wayford Bridge where there is a visitors mooring just for an overnight stay, please? The other moorings is Upton. We are aware that this is a small moorings, just like Wayford. Has anyone got any advise on these mooring? Regards Marina
  9. I keep reading what you all are saying for the tides at GY. Can I please check. We will be going over Breydon a week on Sunday. Low tide at GY is 7:49. Am I right in thinking to be going around and up at GY around 9:15, because I / we would go through around 9am, but the ebb is still strong coming down? As Alan has said before I get the tide readings wrong. I love Breydon like a mill pond and watching the seals. Many thanks. Regards Marina
  10. Yes Iain, Alan's dad ( Ian ) has some Scottish blood in him ( as he said single malt ) . And Alan you are soo tight, it was our money, but as for the £70, where did that come from? Regards Marina
  11. Well Alan I agree with everyone who has entered onto your topic regarding Sabre 28. You and Dave must be so proud of your selves. The photos are great. You both have had some mad ideas regarding rebuilding boats that no one wants. But will this be the last or just another one in line? I think when you get her up on to the broads you should have a open day so everyone can see her in her glory . Luv Mum
  12. Any where on the Broads can be difficult on a good day, but with wind + tide what fun . Marina
  13. I did like a couple there, but see if you can get more infor on the ones you like. Mum
  14. Thats good for us, but bad for them. Did you have the tide with you or against you? + wind great fun Regards Marina
  15. Hello Alan, so for once you done what your mother suggested ( go and look at the chandlery on canvey island ). Look after Sweet Kingfisher next weekend. Luv Mum x
  16. Hello All, I have looked at the information Paladin had found. It is very interesting. Thanks for the infro. We love mooring along by Stracey either on the way from south river or over night when we are heading back down for low water at GY, so some where to have breakfast / lunch / or dinner would be great. Does anyone know if Stracey has been sold, as that will be very sad if that closed? We will be up in two weeks. Regards Marina
  17. Hi Dear, it all sounds great, where are the photos? Love Mum
  18. There is one thing I ensure when mooring up, is, that I can step off the boat and not to jump off. I am just under 5ft. Of course when the tide is either in on full or out on full I am unable to moor by my self and that is when I will ask for a helping hand off someone or anyone. People on the broads will always help each other and that is what is so special on the broads. Regards Marina
  19. Hello Alan, yes I saw that story also. Moorings at some locations can be very hard and dangerous. I on more than one occasion had a hard moorings. One was at Bramerton the green, where it had been raining all morning and with that the grass had been cut + dogs mess and ducks mess, the wooden edge was very wet. I got off the boat to moor up all was good and then my feet went from under me. My finger tips were holding on to the side of the boat and my feet holding on to the bank and me looking down at the water and shouting for help. Ian ( hubby ) got a arm under me and got me back on the bank, with others helping him to moor up. It took me some time to go back and moor at Bramerton. So yes we all must be careful when mooring up. Regards Marina
  20. Hello Grace, the weather man was very wrong and we had blue sky and hot sun. It was great sitting on top deck cruising the river Yare. We have not been down to Norwich by boat since last years holiday. Dear Alan what happen to the log book for your week on the boat. We were looking forward to reading your input, what happen? Regards Marina
  21. Hello Grace, once again I do agree with you. We saw it at the weekend children with no lifejackets and leaning over the sides. What is the matter with the parents? Though out the season you heard of accidents on boats / in the water. It is a great holiday, but you still have to be aware of what is happening around you. Happy boating Regards Marina
  22. Hello All, another great weekend on the river Yare from Brundall to Norwich. We had a slow cruise to Norwich for an over night stay in Norwich. I know what you are saying not a friday night in Norwich and the Canary's were at home. Only because we were meeting friends saturday morning who were coming up from London. Ok back to our canine friends. On our way to Norwich we could see a hire boat ahead of use and they had something in the water. It was not until we were a lot closer did we see they were trying to get a small dog out of the water, but they still had their engine going. We got as close as we could and told him to use their boat hook and to turn their engine off. That poor little dog was trying to so hard to climb up the side of the boat. Someone on the boat got hold of the poor thing at last, but the dog was not waring a lifejacket. I had tears in my eyes for the dog. So come on boat hire companies. Everyone from parents to children have lifejackets, so ensure the people who are hiring and are bringing a dog with them. That the dog also has a lifejacket. PLEASE. Norwich on friday night was for once a quite night, a little noise, but we have had worse. Regards Marina
  23. Yes Alan vey good write up of your week on Sweet Kingfisher. I am glad you did not put any maggots in the fridge this time. Why did you travel on the A12? You said you were going via G/Y, so why did you not go via A140 cut through to G/Y and when do you listen to me. I will check the boat out tomorrow (Friday) when I /we get to her. We will be heading to Norwich, as we have friends from work coming up for the day. Then cruise down river towards Brundall and not sure where lunch will be. We will be back up in four weeks time for two weeks cruising the broads ( sorry to rub it in Alan ). If anyone is up on the yare on saturday give us a wave. Kind regards Marina
  24. Hello Howard, thanks for this information it's funny, because we have been boating for a good ten years and I / we have never heard of the shed. I think next time when we are in Wroxham we will go and have a look. Many thanks Marina
