  1. Nice bum! That aside I just wished she'd get a move on.
  2. Now it's quick, quick, quick, as Iain disposes of a drink!!
  3. Some Lowestoft bloke or another is competing, minus his boxing gloves! As for the programme, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
  4. Monica, I'm not convinced that that MAFI is not privately owned, indeed I suspect that particular one, with a blue hull, is owned by a competitor, possibly the owner of both boats. If that were not the case then all the MAFI had to do was to throttle back, which would have been the polite thing to have done, and allow the WAFI to cross his bow. However, in this case I'm pretty sure both boats are related.
  5. 108 years old, although I'm not sure which bit!
  6. The tallest mast on the Broads, 84 feet or so.
  7. This evening's cruiser race:
  8. Very few people ever do! On the other hand there is an emerging breed of private boat owner that clearly dislikes sailing boats, whether racing or not, and insists on barging in front of them but by and large the relationship between the two is perfectly acceptable to all concerned.
  9. Jane, just take it easy and go behind racing boats. Most competitors take motorboats in their stride. Mind you not many were impressed by the big twin screw, private job that made a total prat of himself the other day by giving it big and barging through the fleet. What made him look even dafter than need be was that if he'd throttled back for a moment and altered course by a fraction he would have passed astern of the racing fleet. Thankfully idiots like that are few and far between! Big bloke, big engines, small brain. On the other hand the hire fleet generally manages to survive perfectly well.
  10. What a horrible day! The wettest Oulton Week in living memory?
  11. Great news for some: http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/vulcan_bomber_to_fly_over_raf_lakenheath_1_4208430
  12. About twelve years ago? Speed, surely expecting the Authority to maintain the legally enforceable speed limits hardly deserves your tirade! This thread started off as a warning, don't speed, it could cost you, indeed it could cost us all. Is that really so bad?
  13. Andy, this is the preamble & date of the blog that I referred to, how does it stack up with the dates of your involvement? Speeding on the Norfok Broads & Rivers – Expert WitnessFebruary 23, 2015Speeding on the Norfolk Broads – Do Not Speed it is Expensive (# 738) A few months ago we provided Expert Evidence for a private boat owner of a very nice 37′ single screw motor cruiser whom had the misfortune to be photographed with a mobile phone camera at 4 + mph ? in a 4 mph speed limit.
  14. Alan, it comes from a supremely reputable and verifiable source. Don't forget, it went to three hearings. The BA is increasingly taking on, and sometimes loosing, litigious cases. It has both the Thorpe Island and the dispute over the National Park branding in the pipeline, all potentially extremely expensive cases.
  15. And perhaps even more finally: http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/seething_airshow_cancels_vintage_jet_display_after_shoreham_disaster_1_4207627
  16. The idea of Robin rubbing down his Hampton leaves a great deal to the imagination . . . . . . . . . . .
