Hi Polly, click on this one http://www.wherryyachtcharter.org/events.php#norwich and see if any of the activities coincide with the date.
  2. A gentleman by the name of Bill, great bloke. Bill also looked into publishing on a disc rather than a hard copy but nothing came of it. Not just ill health but the sheer volume of updating that was required. All in all a great shame. The nearest alternative is the Green Book distributed to members of the Norfolk & Suffolk Boating Association, try google for that. I have a feeling that a certain Broads photographer attempted to take on Hamiltons but nothing came of that either.
  3. Might be worth checking the BSS & your insurance as to how much fuel can be carried in auxiliary cans.
  4. I downloaded it, easy, well pleased, no regrets! My son-in-law works for Disney-Pixar, he's on the Star-Wars team, so it's fair to credit him with some computer savvy, he's well impressed with Windows 10. Mind you he's staying with 8 at the moment for running his animation programs.
  5. Have a read of this: https://home.bt.com/news/uk-news/norfolk-and-suffolk-wetlands-rebranding-bid-faces-challenge-11363997515223 Cat amongst the pigeon time!
  6. Leave the ladies wot need their hair curlers or straighteners at home and have a 'lads week', far less aggravation. Heaven forbid, they'll want to bring more than one pair of shoes along with them and waste drinking time peering at a mirror!
  7. Perhaps she'd broken down there? Not the most inviting piece of bank to moor against.
  8. It's quite uncanny but seemingly it rains more on a Thursday evening than any other time of a week. No, they don't usually cancel the racing due to rain, if they did they wouldn't do much racing!
  9. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3194111/It-summer-MONTH-S-rain-sweep-Britain-two-days-Thursday-Friday-floods-thunderstorms-way.html Oh dear!
  10. VHF is used on the Broads, yacht stations and bridges for example.
  11. Thanks folks, really appreciated. As space is an issue, as is portability, the motor bike battery option seems to be the one for me. If it all goes pear shaped then I know who to blame!
  12. From the sparse Mercury website: Alternator amp / Watt4 lighting / 2 charging amp / 50 lighting / 25 charging wattBy the way, thanks for the info todate. Would this do? http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/accessories-car-batteries/car-batteries/other-batteries/motorcycle-batteries/?445770171&0&cc5_989
  13. Interference on satellite TV yesterday, might be related.
  14. Right, must be honest, yours truly is as thick as two planks when it comes to iron donkeys and electricity. I have a Mercury outboard that charges batteries at 2.98 kilowatts. I really don't want to lash out on a leisure battery just to power a navigation light and a fish-finder. Would one of these do the job and could it be recharged underway by my engine?http://www.screwfix.com/p/sealed-lea...3-x-97mm/63554All advice & alternative suggestions will be appreciated!
  15. Eddie, the Broads very own national pike, is on the case! http://www.broadsnationalpike.com/2015/08/a-boggle-at-bewilderbroad.html
  16. Senator, as far as the coast & rivers are concerned everything relates to the direction of the flood tide.
  17. What I like about old gear is the telephone number prices that some collectors are prepared to pay for what in modern terms is a load of old tat! Much of my old ABU stuff has become very collectable
  18. Gosh, there are some real old crocs on this forum, what with dodgy backs and knees. Perhaps we should have a dedicated thread! Makes me wonder just how many of us are actually fit enough to go boating!
  19. Thankfully, Soundings, they don't all go out on the rivers at the same time, indeed some don't ever appear appear to go anywhere! Heaven forbid that they ever do. There are folk who only go in a pub if it's crowded, there are others who only go into an uncrowded one, I really don't know the answer to that one. Opening up Hoveton Great Broad would help for one thing!
  20. Saily asked 'How did this grow from a plea to sailys? Errr, not sure, just the nature of forums I suppose!
  21. Was out on the water today, behind a tacking yacht. Coming from astern of us both was a large Gin Palace. I held on to the bank to let him pass, which he did, he then started honking on his horn and shouting at the other sailing boat, claiming that he was a hampered vessel, which I really don't think that he was and clearly the other sailing boat didn't think so either! Whatever, the other sailing boat carried on tacking. Who was wrong, the sailing boat for getting in the way, or the gin palace for demanding that the sailing boat give way? He could have asked!
  22. Sort of picture that is easy to get from the yacht station:
  23. This one is not pin sharp, grrrr, blessed things go so fast!
  24. Only three more race meetings this year! These big cats can certainly shift, exciting stuff. Well worth coming South for!
