  1. Stern-on I do understand as most sailies are somewhat narrower than mobos but side-on, that's strange. Okay, so we don't have all the comforts of home eating up the leccy cards but 35' is 35'. On the other hand perhaps the Authorities prefer sailing boats, quite understandable!!
  2. SOB is definitely overkill for Breydon. Too deep to be able to go alongside grounded vessels for one thing, Being built for speed doesn't make her a good tow boat either. , Re the Fuzz, really helpful folk, more so than the Rangers in my opinion.
  3. Badger Builders also have the old Pegasus Boatyard site at Oulton Broad. It is an outright eyesore at present, with ambitious plans passed for saturation apartments. Norfolk needs housing for its youngsters, but those youngsters need viable jobs in order to buy those houses. Once built I doubt that many, if any, of these new Rollesby houses will be bought by young locals.
  4. Twelve Ponds & Fifty Pence, that is taking the uric, just a bit! It would be very easy for a visitor to add fifty quid to the cost of a holiday with such mooring costs.
  5. Speed, despite the otters, mink, cormorants, Broads Authority , seals, poachers and catfish fishing on the Broads has shown itself to be markedly improved over recent years. The only disaster appears to be pike stocks which have plummeted steadily over the last ten years. In my opinion this decline is down to one factor, humans, more precisely total numpties.
  6. Perhaps we should make this link a 'sticky'? http://days.to/christmas/2015
  7. Blow the warning points, what about the Turkey & Tinsel night idea?
  8. Turkey & Tinsel themed Barby at the Beccles Meet then?
  9. Just thought that you'd like to know that. Only a few weeks 'till Lathams start selling next year's calendars and this year's Christmas cards, if they haven't already started!
  10. And end up in Hades!
  11. John, try a drop net! Far quicker.
  12. Roach, still very hollow gutted, presumably they spawned late this year, am catching them by the shedload! Bream, very few taking my bait, yet! Pike, pathetic. Either I'm doing something wrong or they just aren't there for whatever reason. Roach, manic, loads of 'em. Single red maggot on a size twenty, single dust shot, maggot feed and cloud bait, can't go wrong! Right tiddlers to some half decent fish around the pound. Great fun!
  13. Re being well spaced out, blame the gin! Re overstaying on a 24hr mooring, agreed, River Control.
  14. Incredibly so, unless I need my bus pass.
  15. You are all invited to the Broads Authority's Open Day. Annual Open Day – 27 June 2015 The Annual Open Day to the public will be held on Saturday 27June at the Dockyard in Thorpe, from 10.00am with a presentation at 11.00 am. Staff and members will be on hand to answer questions about the work of the Authority. Your chance to see the workshops that swallowed up nearly a million pounds!
  16. The honey pots of the Northern Broads, with their clamour and bustle, are clearly what people, in general, want and enjoy. Those places are about as far away as possible from the general perception of a Broads National Park as one can get, yet the Authority wishes to lie and call the Broads a NP, it doesn't add up!

  18. Leo, that pipe belonged to the local farmer, he used it once a year for irrigation
  19. When a tide is running, and you are moored up, try moving the steering wheel until you find that the tide pushing past the rudder actually pushes the boat away from the shore, a technique called 'sheering off'. Remember to tie the wheel in the desired position otherwise it might alter its position. Fender boards, dead handy and useful as gangplanks or fulcrums.
  20. Think that I would have taken one look before sodding off to Bargate or Surlingham for a bit off peace & quiet!

  23. The son is, must be in his sixties. The old man, don't know but I'd be surprised if he is.
  24. Me too, long time ago, old man Tilney used to have an amazingly well built daughter . . . . . . . . . .
  25. So long as it's not the 'dark side'! Another solution might be to hire from Martham Boats. Not to everyone's taste but they are good people hiring out 'real' boats from a previous age, no whirlpool baths for example!
