Hi Alan, Not sure if it was on the link but they are speculating that GA, one of the Bath chicks from a few years ago, may well be the breeding female at Norwich next year. Her behaviour this years has baffled the experts apparently as what she has done is not 'normal' behaviour towards youngsters by any female. It will be interesting next year Steve

Here is the sad moment GA 'knocked' the last chick off the nesting box Click #NorwichPeregrines

Been a while since we updated our progress so here's a few pics the inside is just about finished, only a few small jobs left to do. Engine will be run as is and see how she goes. Oh, and she has just passed her BSC so not got that to worry about for a few years. Still not sure if we are selling or keeping her yet, other factors have to be weighed up but we are very happy how the inside has turned out. here is a comparison photo. Many thanks to Chris, Frank (Mowjo), son in law who did a great job on the carpet fitting for us Steve

Thanks for the info J. we've just replaced both cylinder jackets as they were cracked but the heads were inspected and looked fine when it was apart. One piston ring was a bit 'sticky' (the centre one) on both cylinders but we felt it would release once the engine ran at temp for a few hours. I have since read that the rings could cause white smoke with low compression and therefore unburnt fuel. anyway as suggested I think we will just use and see what happens Steve
-
Thanks John, at least people will know when we are turning up, just look for the smoke signals Steve
-
I've had Nothgate marine look at it as it wasn't running after the new cylinder blocks were fitted. I'm nowhere near technical enough to start looking at fuel issues Steve
-
It a Volvo Penter MD11c Griff, raw water cooled 2 cylinder engine. Been reading up and white smoke 'could be' unburnt diesel particles apparently. Water from exhaust is warm but not hot. It doesn't smoke too badly when idling but does when under load which is why I think it could be fuel related. Hoping someone in the know will come up with a possible answer Steve

Little run up to St Olaves and back yesterday. She goes but a fair bit of white smoke when under load. Not as bad on tick over. Time to scratch my head again and probably part with more money Steve IMG_0695.MOV

Thanks all, poppy you can eat as much bacon as you like as long as you cut the fat off. Grace I think a few jars here and there will be ok, I'll just have to save my weekly syn allowance for the night of beer, especially if Jaws is about. It's Deb he leads astray not me. will def be out a bit more this year Charlie, hope to catch up with you, maybe at one of the meets Iain, I used to play a bit of golf when my Dad, God bless him, was alive. Got down to playing off 12 but packed in when he passed away. We used to play every week and the enjoyment just went when he wasn't next to me on the tee. Stuart, I've not upped my exercise yet, I still do none , but that will happen when the weight loss stops or slows down through diet alone. Not sure I've the confidence to join a gym but time will tell Steve

Thought I'd share another bit of news with you lovely people. The only way it is related to the broads is it may save me a few £££'s on diesel this season At the end of January I decided enough was enough and I had to do something about my weight. Being diabetic and on blood pressure tablets at 46 and having aches and pains was getting me down. As a couple, Deb and I decided to join slimming world and we attended our first meeting on 28th January. 2 and a 1/2 months later my blood pressure pills have been dropped from 3 different pills per day to just 1 and after my annual diabetic check yesterday my sugars over the last 3 months and my cholesterol are the lowest they have been in the 3yrs since I was diagnosed. in those 2 and a 1/2 months I have lost 2 stone and the physical changes can been seen as well. This is probably of no significance to most but I just wanted to share with you guys n gals. I feel so much better in myself and if any of you are thinking of losing a couple of pounds I can highly recommend slimming world. I've never eaten so much but the secret is eating the right things The picture shows me at Christmas and as I am now. Steve

Frank, this job is just for the curtain rails, I made new ceiling panels last season. They have been removed so I could remove the old carpet and will be going back up once done. i will get some tec 7 and look in to spring battens as you suggest Steve
-
Thanks Frank. I was planning on using batons about 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide cut from a sheet of 15mm WDP ply. Will that work? May have to take you up on the cooking offer Ian Steve
-
Thanks again for all the help and advice. Danny I've had someone, a very kind chocolate eating woodie , offer to show me the way to bond the batons to fibreglass using fibreglass. Now she is up and running again I've found some real enthusiasm to get her all up to scratch. Grace, jaws is a really bad influence on me, or should I say on Deb. He was the one that said the carpet was unhealthy and he wouldn't sleep on it. Guess what .......... Deb then refused to sleep on it until the lining was replace . Remember, if in doubt .......... Blame Mr JawsOrca Steve
-
Thanks for all the replies you wonderful lot. Ive never done anything with fibreglass or resins. Think an hour or so on you tube is required Steve

Good morning one and all Had a trip up to Lady Patricia yesterday. Engine is now in good running order and I spent the day ripping out all the carpet inside the cabin. Now Deb has to choose the required colour / colours of the new lining carpet and make new curtains. A quick question for some of you in the know. I want to fix some batons to the fibreglass while it is striped bare to enable fixing of curtain rails instead of having to use those net curtain wires as we have at present. Is there a contact adhesive on the market that will not react with fibreglass? these batons will then be covered by the carpet so will not be visible. Steve

Anyone Out On 9th April Around Somerleyton
LadyPatricia replied to LadyPatricia's topic in Broads Chat
Thanks Paul, if you could PM me your mobile number then I can confirm times closer to the day We certainly have had a few issues with her JM. We've not been able to use her since the forum summer meet last year. Hopefully we will get a lot more enjoyment from her this year Steve -
Hi all, We have now managed to get Lady Patricia running and it's time for a river run. We are a little concerned something may go 'wrong' ( more due to confidence loss in the engine than anything else ). The question is are any of you lovely people going to be afloat around the Somerleyton area on Saturday 9th April? We would like to cruise down to Oulton Broad and back to give her a bit of a run but would feel a lot more comfortable cruising with someone else. Steve
