    My Day

JM wishing Mrs JM a quick recovery. I had it once and mildly but I know from other's experience it makes you feel utterly miserable! Liz
  2. I'm also wondering whether ahead of Salvor and the other moored boat, you can see the stern of the Lady Yacht Club Committee Boat 'White Heather' - there is a good photo on page 149 of Jennifer Woods book on her father's life and legacy
  3. You gave the game away, I had actually thought it was Ludham Bridge but also saw what I thought was Salvor which will explain the photo being in Woods basin!!!
  4. I am trying to read the name on the stern of the work boat in the background. Wondering if it is Salvor - Herbert Woods trusty workhorse!
  5. Boys.....and girls please. Who is posting (and crediting the riddle) on the Wherry Trust FB page where the original picture was posted? Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  6. In both pictures you can see the bit of guttering coming off the roof in the second picture. A joint effort but I think we have nailed it!
  7. This is extracted from Wherries and Waterways - a photo of Allen's yard at Coltishall but obviously this picture is from the main river, not the possible backwater we were discussing. Obviously it is well before the 1930s when the photos were taken. There are some conifers in the background but probably further along the road?
  8. I've seen that bin in a different thread on WhatsApp...... Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  9. Note in the small print just SW of the Anchor (PH) text there are the words Boatbuilding Yd.
  10. I have just spent a happy hour (or so) looking at the Francis Frith collection of photos - found a lovely one of a Delight!!! Looked at aerial photos of Norwich and this is my idea only! I think it is Anchor Street in Coltishall. We have a bank of trees behind and on the map there was a cut going behind Clifford Allen's yard. Can't find any photos to support this but my theory only! The water looks placid
  11. The trees are very close to the buildings so it has to be somewhere where there was a tree line close to the river. The ground is not necessarily that high but perhaps a little. What about Bramerton Woods End? But either the tide is high or there isn't much tidal flow - the ropes aren't slack The other thing to note is that wherry doesn't appear to be rigged? She has a mast though - so is this a maintenance yard - note a possible houseboat in the background.
  12. Tuesday at the New Inn Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  13. Thanks - that's what I once heard but I wasn't sure it was available. Once tried to extract it from rhubarb leaves but that didn't work (both extracting and using). Any suggestions where I could get it from (in the current climate) Liz
  14. Not strictly a restoration project but I have finally got around to sanding down my white boat floor boards. I brought them home back in the autumn as a winter project with the plan that I would start sanding with the orbital sander on a nice spring time weekday when no one else in our road would be home!! Only thing I did do was on a visit to Norfolk back in February was to get advice on the best varnish, then bought the necessary varnish and the non slip beads and 'picked' up a piece of wood............ The boards come in four sections of three planks and each section have batons holding them together. Although one of the sections (forward port) had shown signs of black staining for some years, I hadn't noticed was that one of the batons had become completely rotten and there was evidence of damp getting in in several places!! The result is that the wood which should according to class rules be redwood has stained in places very badly so what I want to know is - is there anything these days that can be used to remove the stain apart from sanding and sanding and sanding down? Any thoughts on a postcard. Liz
  15. It was knocked down and I think a Care Home is there now? Google Streetview isn't quite so clear - maybe a housing estate?
  16. Ranworth Hall was the night club of bygone years! Was Cringles Herbert Woods home or am I wrong completely Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  17. Welcome - I was about to say that after having woken up, checked the forum and seen GJs posts
  18. Example I used on Sunday for my LEW which is on my local footpaths across the fields. Planned a new route but noted on OS map it said ***** Cottages. Since I trying to avoid as much housing as possible when walking I went onto Google maps to see if the cottages were on my route or not. They were on a FP that joined my route so problem solved - new route was possible. Yes agree invaluable but OS maps are equally still important. Liz
  19. A decision will be made regarding the 3RRs after Easter apparently.

    My Day

Meant house windows, not car - I do clean the car windows more regularly than I clean the actual car!

    My Day

I am determined that the car doesn't get cleaned - cleaned all the inside windows this morning - its nice to be able to see out of them clearly!
