  4. I haven't been able to go out and about much of late with the camera these are from august around the north Norfolk coast. north Norfolk ... hunstanton ... east barsham ...
  5. yes its that christmas smiley time of year again.
  6. its a while since iv seen that picture of wooky witch originally lairdmore ... a moores boat. that is a scan of a picture I took. It must have been 1993. here is one inside the shed she was later bought and shipped away from the broads
  7. I wish I could believe that this is just packmans agenda and not from higher up. I often hear about the governments battle with the erosion and flooding of our coast and the lack of funds to deal with it. I can imaging the money from tolls mean nothing compared with the money needed to protect the broads and this coast against bad floods and silting. the demise of the hire fleets e.g. oulton broad ... 11 yards to 0 etc, and commercial ships that helped keep the silt on the move and the end of the bure unplugged, is now all on the shoulders of the BA to dredge. I hope I am wrong and can return and stay in la la land.
  8. no boats ... no dredging burden on the BA. no boats ... no need to pay for upkeep of banks and public moorings etc. no boats ... fewer wage bills. national park status ... loads of funding dosh. twitching walkways through the bogs and car parks that charge even the disabled, with nice cafes and nik nak shops.
  9. through all the years living aboard and using different types of heating, nothing beat a log burner. we tried a dutch diesel drip stove ... it need de waxing in the winter when it got cold even when we added kerosene to the diesel to stop it waxing up and I find diesel nasty stuff to have to get close to. we tried blown hot air and it dried my sinus and it just dident feel nice. we tried a calor gas fire and it caused condensation. I found coal to be dirty and the dust got every where. coalite was ok but the fumes are poisonous and so not nice for the neighbours. a wood burner for me every time. I ran 3 radiators and hot water from mine with no pump needed with a self circulating system. the ash takes ages to need emptying and an ash bed is good for a fire. it smokes for a while on start up but soon settles and the smoke smells great to me. when I got used to the drafting I could get it to run 20hrs without going out if needed. my guinea pig also loved it.
  10. had another guestion on the tip of my tongue ...

  13. just a couple of things ...... would it be possible to have a highlighted add for the calendar pictures voting thread at the top with the announcements ? my thinking on this is that the thread is dropping down the page and because its not open ... I guess it wont get noticed soon even if its pinned. is there a closing date for voting ?

  16. how john fox's looked when he lived there and it was at the may gurney yard ... john fox's, may gurneys old yard river yare mid nineties by jill, on Flickr
  17. I found these two maps in a bargain book shop in town in the ninetys they were selling them off cheap so I bought 10 of each and gave them out to other boaters. what I loved about them was the way they followed the journey and showed the land marks, like the sysons map I used to use on the trent. I cant guess the age and I have found no sign of them through google or ebay. Charlie has placed them as after the end of 1974 ..........
  18. this map is of great Yarmouth to Norwich in 5 pages with 2 close ups of each page....
