  1. Using google earth I tried to measure the berth I’m hoping to get. It’s about 28 feet long by about 8 feet wide. Is that going to restrict my choice a lot? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks for that. I’m not sure about anything else in the Broads but fish (well koi) seem pretty tolerant of hydrogen peroxide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Interesting stuff. What did they do? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. But it has that huge flagpole sticking up in the middle [emoji57] Saw one get lifted out at Goodchilds recently. Very impressive (boat and lift!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I’m not an expert but I don’t think that would go under any of the bridges [emoji57] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks everyone. Some great tips there. Just a few points. It’s far from my first boat but will be my first cruiser. Mooring is sorted but space is limited. I might be able to move before the end of the year but I’m not sure yet. It will be kept near PH so if it won’t go under I’ll be halving where I can go with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Noooo .... find what you want then justify it to your other half [emoji57] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks for that. Sounds like good advice. Not really sure on budget yet. I’m a contractor / consultant so if work comes in I’ll probably buy a boat that’s ready to go. If it doesn’t I’ll probably buy a project boat. Also don’t know what budget “needs” to be if that makes sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I’m thinking of getting something like this .... One double berth Basic cooking facilities (ok, I admit I just want to make coffee) Toilet. Small enough to moor next to a riverside property. I don’t know berth measurements. Preferably inboard diesel or electric. Ideally fits under PH bridge. I don’t know where to look or what to look for. Any advice gratefully received. 10. Sorry if I missed it but are we supposed to be liking now? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Hahaha. Not sure I can comply with that. Except when I’m getting onto the plane I don’t make much wash. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. If the rules had changed I might be able to buy petrol on the broads without travelling two hours or more [emoji6] By Great Lakes standards this one performs quite well in a chop. I had a SeaDoo Jet Drive boat before this one and whilst the jet boat was faster I couldn’t live with the Ebbtide (this one) if there was any swell at sea. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks again! No, I absolutely try to do the right thing. The only people I will let drive it at speed have passed RYA powerboat level 2 and the only people that can tow with it have passed a BWSW qualification (to be fair the second part is a BA rule anyway). It’s got a V6 petrol 220 hp Mercruiser stern drive. I carry a lot of Jerry cans [emoji6] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Thank you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Since I appear to have been outed ..... What are people’s views? The BA / ERSA rules seem quite tight on skiing / wakeboarding (as they should be in my opinion). But I’m really keen to not annoy people and if there are extra things I can do to make life a little easier for cruisers etc I’m keen to do it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. I’m reluctant to do this as I know sports boats / wake boarders on the broads aren’t to everyone’s taste but since you’ve asked! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. My boat is designed to be open which makes it a little chilly in the winter months. So we can use it year round I got Bailey & Stone to make me covers that attach to the bimini top. I went down to see the new covers today and am very very impressed with the quality of their work and design. I was thinking of trading the boat in but they’ve done such a good job I’ll be keeping it for the foreseeable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Always whether on bike or boat! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Thanks for that Timbo. Couldn’t agree more about Breydon. We spend a lot of time on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Sorry for the newbie question but is that why Breydon gets shut to hire boats? Broads boats can get blown out of the channel in high winds? I’ve only ever crossed it in good conditions or in a powerboat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yes please! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. That’s really interesting. I’ve heard it said that a rough rule of thumb is that prices double about every ten years. On those prices that works out about right doesn’t it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. You lot aren’t the worst anymore. There, that’s praise isn’t it? [emoji57] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I’m spending a lot more time driving than I’m used to or like these days (I used to do a lot years ago but don’t now) so my pet hates are ... Drivers who cut in at the front of queues rather than waiting for their turn like everyone else. There are certain makes of car that seem to do this more than others but I’m way too new here to get drawn into that. Lorries that overtake each other when they have a 0.1 mph speed advantage. Why can’t the one being passed slow down a little or better yet the overtaker live with a 0.1 mph speed reduction? Cars that you pass and speed away from catching you up in traffic and tailgating you as though you’re holding them up. That’ll do for now [emoji57] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Thanks everyone. I was hoping there was a single answer. Guess I’ll have to stop being lazy and figure it out if we ever get in! It’s built on 8” -12” square posts and raised a couple of feet above the ground. But I have no idea what’s at the bottom of the posts underground. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
