Well can I find anywhere that has a service kit in stock – no!
Have these been discontinued?
Anybody know where you can get them from before I throw it away and purchase one of the cheaper versions on the market now a days? ……… which might be cheaper than trying to get this one going!!!
Thanks.

Panks used to do our heating before we became self managed, we now use JPC and deal with Tom.
Nowt wrong with that, they are a site sponsor and even better if you can stroll there from your mooring. Panks was an option if searching for NOS if the service kit is no longer made.

Aren`t Panks in Norwich service agents, might be worth a call to ask.

Why?
Customers rarely if ever understand the time spent by the tradesperson when pricing the job for starters.

Being Mr Newbie hope this is correct section to post this. In the market for a boat, new or used as yet undecided. One question I have as regards new boats is the pricing of add ons. Not naming the manufacturer but I have prices for add ons that look to me way more than the sum of the constituents. For example of a 30ft boat to add GPS, speed and depth is approx £700. Now looking up what parts are needed to arrive at this with identical units they total around half. Am I just being tight fisted in my views?
Sorry to be blunt however I feel that is unfair.

In law, it’s not as simple as that. The CAA control airspace, so as long as a drone takes off and lands where there is no restriction, it can fly anywhere as long as the airspace is not restricted, such as near airports, prisons and so on.
Guess it is back to having tan lines for me then.

I suspect that the long term aim will be to demolish the pub to make way for a clubhouse to be part of the development of riverside apartments with adjacent moorings. My opinion obviously, but I can’t see any other reason for Broom to get into the hospitality market.
Yes, I was thinking that after awhile Broom will say it isn't viable as a pub and seek to use the land for another purpose.

Current rumour is that Brooms have brought the pub and are looking to re open in March. Just a rumour though with no sign of any trade vans in the car park so may be hot air.

Why is diesel diferent prices?
Might that depend on how much a yard is charged based on how much they sell each year.

Interesting that the owner of a single level forward steer cruiser refers to it as a bathtub without retribution.
Whilst some do refer to a boat as such others don`t.

I had an exasperating journey home today from Retford To my village. All because of an air head lady driver, she certainly didn't cover herself in glory or do the sisterhood any favours:-
I called in at a filing station / 24 Hr mini market type outlet that I don't normally visit to fill up with diesel (Won't be going back to it anytime soon either)
It wasn't overly busy but there was a queu of about six of us, growing all the time due to only one of four counters being manned, that was mildly irritating but nowt more than an itch.
Until the rather attractive twenty something airhead in front of me got to the counter to pay for her fuel.
She got out her card to pay for the fuel, then realised it was still in her car. She trooped off back to her car and left the rest of us idly in the queue patiently waiting for her return - Shouldn't one check before replacing the nozzle and setting off to the counter to pay that you actually have the means to pay on ones person?
She returned with her business fuel card, the counter lady asked her for the reg of the vehicle - Off she trooped again back to her car to read the reg plate and left the rest of us idly in the growing queue patiently waiting for her return
Mileage? asked the counter lady - Yes, you've guessed it, Off she trooped again back to her car to read the mileage which required her to get in and turn the ignition on meanwhile she again left the rest of us idly in the ever growing queue patiently waiting for her return
You could have not made this up, it was like a comedy scene from Mr Bean. I half expected her to lose her keys or better still forget the blasted pin number for her card. If that had happened I swear I would have paid for her fuel just to get her out of there
Griff
Give the lady a break and save your blood pressure, could it have been a new job this week with a new company car and using the fuel card for the first time after visitng parents in hospital that afternoon. Also I doubt that I am the only one amongst us that has filled up at a garage only to realise my wallet was back at home

I know ideally I should visit the boats to have a look but unfortunately it’s a struggle to get down with work and I’ve never been moored up next to a syndicate boat to have a snoop around.
Any info is gladly welcome, thanks!
Dont commt to anything without seeing for yourself and thinking one is moored on the south and other is moored on the north should that make a difference too you.

I think the worst use of bow thrusters I ever saw was a boat cruising past st benets (where I was moored), using the thrusters every few seconds to keep the boat going straight, then turning right up the ant, just on the bow and stern thrusters, not a sign of steering input in the prop wash, just a repeated whirring of the thrusters at full chat.
Well this proves good thrusters do work when the boat is under way.
Webasto Hl18 D Heater .......

Being a skinny bald headed person I am the sort that wears a light fleece whilst others wear T-shirts in summer sitting outside a pub in the UK come 8pm or in other words I feel the chill like no other.
There was no working heating system on the boat which has big windows when I brought it so fitting heating was top of the list. I spoke with the head man in the yard and picked his brains and experiences with Webasto, Eberspacher and Planar heaters regarding costs of buying and servicing and was undecided. Then he threw me a curve ball of a cheap Chinese heater instead.
Costing around £100 plus the costs of a proper exhaust I figured if it only lasted a year or two It wouldnt owe me anything so I took the gamble and won. So far it has lasted around 3000 - 35000hrs often running 6hrs a day in winter without fault. The display controls the output with an on/off programmer plus I have an on/off key fob for turning it on without getting out of bed.
The fuel pump is mounted below the take off from the tank so it is flooded all the time and the piston pump pushes fuel to the heater (they dont suck fuel in to the pump) You should use the supplied nylon fuel hoses on the pump outlet as some rubber hoses can expand a little under pressure and adding extra rubber mounts or suspending the fuel pump makes it quieter.
