Re the ripped hole, try super glue around the outside of the hole and folding the bag over the hole.

Do they come with a pump or do they need a vacuum cleaner?
Thinking of getting some myself.
Vacuum bags MM, why would you pump air in!

Just one thing, the tide tables are tides predicted a long way in advance based on average conditions. All sorts of meteorological conditions can throw those out, so I would recommend downloading the Aweigh app onto your phone so you can check a more up to date forecast on the day. Either that or phone Yarmouth Yacht Station to check their estimate of the tide.
Willyweather is also updated daily.

Understand it was full of personal gear, the structure is in danger of breaking up so to move it to one side was the best for now until next week.

OBB,
Suggested by a friend of mine and downloaded - but difficult to know how useful it is in Sussex , so good to have it confirmed!
Thanks.
N.
There is also a post/ sticky here somewhere in a sub forum on travelling times between A & B, subject to tides of course.
Again, just saying.

Hi all,
As title, we're coming up from Sussex from Tuesday afternoon - Saturday morning, hiring a "Gold Gem" from Richardson's in Stalham.
I have sailed quite a lot, so am very aware of the need to look at tides (especially before doing anything around Yarmouth - unless I am worrying unnecessarily!).
We feel (or rather, my teenage son feels!) that we would rather be moving in the boat than stopping and walking everywhere: so I have planned the following, and want to know if this will work (I appreciate that it involves 4+ hrs per day of motoring, but I think it avoids driving against the tides too much)
Tuesday PM: Stalham - Ludham Bridge
Wednesday: Ludham Bridge - Burgh Castle (including passing Yarmouth +/- 1 hr from low tide @ 18:18
Thursday: Burgh Castle - Waveney River Centre - Berney Arms
Friday: Berney Arms (leaving by 07:00 to catch 07:06 low tide at Yarmouth) - Neatishead/Acle/Sutton
Saturday: back to Stalham.
Any comments would be most welcome - and if there is any info on pubs/ takeaways that are open en route (although, of course, we would have to sit outside !) that would be really helpful too.
Thanks so much in advance.
Nick.
See thread on what is and what isnt open pub wise. As always, it is best to call ahead.

Picked up our new Kia Wednesday, very happy with it. a well tweaked version of the Sportage we already had . This one is a mild hybrid so much cheaper road tax and the engine is noticeably quieter than our last one ever was which is good , can't abide noisy engines.

Just turn the music up, it works for me.

Our other car is a Honda, so a Type R would be fun
The Honda is chain cam too, but in six and a half years of ownership nothing has ever actually gone wrong with it. The Mini has done a thermostat housing and timing chain so far this year....
I find the Type R to be a little "shouty" and stand out for my liking. Would love Guy Martins Volvo Amazon!

Are chains actually metal rather than another material nowadays? A debadged SEAT FR or better still the Cupra is a fun car to drive.

3 and a half rings! What did they think the half ring would do for crying out loud?
I have found all the rings cut in half before, remember asking technical if they knew something I didn`t Another was a bent shaft, quite how it became bent we never did figure out.

I have been considering a Cooper Convertible as my Summer "Me" car. The fact that the BMW 3 pot has a chain was a major attraction. You are rapidly putting me off the idea.
Friend had one and he said the rear view was like looking through a letterbox!

My wife has a Mini, which is great fun to drive but it is probably the least reliable thing known to man. I actually think a Fiat, VW (anything after the 1.9PD) or Renault would be less trouble.
Having been back to the main dealer four times under warranty because the timing chain didn't sound right (and knowing they have a major reputation for eating tensioners / guides) I was assured repeatedly nothing was wrong with the car even though the independent garage who MOT'd it also said they felt something was wrong with it.
Now it's out of warranty and 1,000 miles later the timing chain is finally making the 'death rattle' sound that means the chain needs replacing immediately.
What fun.
There will be records of your four complaints to the dealer to use to say that it should of been fixed. Also check on owners community web sites for advice, and good luck with it.

When refurbishing gland packed commercial water pumps we found that the shaft was often damaged because people overtightened the packing causing friction and damage which meant removing the shaft and metal spraying and machining the shaft back to size because new packing alone would still leak so worth checking the shaft for deep scores first.
If you cant measure the old packing for size then measure between the outside of the shaft and the inner wall of the packing box for an idea of what size you need (imperial not metric) Sorry but cant advise on type of packing required.
As Vaughan said postion the butts at different places, ie 12 o`clock > 2 o`clock > 4 o`clock and so on, and if you can, an angled joint (see attachment) works better than a straight butt joint and start loose and gradually tighten the packing plate to control leakage.

I think that new engine was first bedded in sometime around 1959. Nothing wrong about that though!
Ah, you missed the story about the duvet then!
