Another thing I was wondering you experienced boaters might know, if not I'm sure the boat yard will tell me but are you able to have the warm air heating running on the boat once you've stopped and moored and the engine is no longer running? Or does it only work when traveling along and engine on? Thanks

Does your boat have shore power hook up?

Welcome  to the forum. The trick is to moor up as safe as possible. Many people  wild moor. You need to check for anything under the service that may damage  your boat,be that large stones big tree roots etc.my advice is take extra care on the southern broads  where it's more tidal.

Tripped up by the damn auto correct there mate. Just saying. :default_gbxhmm:

Don’t know what you were looking at OBB, the forecast I saw was for a cloudy but mostly dry day with light winds. That’s what we’ve got too. 🙂 (Hastens to add, at the moment!)

Not being a weather watcher or anything of the kind I looked at a Norfolk weather site and that is what it said. Having just stuck a damp finger out of the window I predict rain around 14.06 today. :default_biggrin:

    Probably.

I've been in and out of Swancrafts yard numerous times, both as a very happy hirer and latterly as a visitor. It's tight but no more so than most yards. I can see what OBB means - a bow thruster makes the job easier but there certainly shouldn't be any problems. One thing I can guarantee - it will be snapped up if it hasn't been already. When the lottery comes up it will be my first choice of yard for a mooring.

Things might have changed already, I`m hearing that somebody already moored there wants to move and that would free up a longer mooring on the front up to around 37ft, this is a stern mooring with a short side quay as well. Being on the front the thruster may not be required.

  5. Heard on the water that a mooring might be available soon at Swancraft. Would suit a 30-35ft broads type boat with a thruster to aid getting in and out

Yard has shore power, pump out, diesel, gas facilities, workshop for repairs and maintenance and cctv, also hear adding wi-fi connection is being considered.

As we know these don`t come up often and Paul on 01603 712632 is the man to talk to.

Yes, its who I insure with, and no survey required... hope that helps.

Boswell are brokers not insurers. No survey? Guess your boat is newer than mine, everybody wanted a survey report on mine. (1980 boat)

Try Alan Boswell for the insurance, same policy as N&G cheaper and dont think they require a survey.

    Fred

Tried Alan Boswell, in my case it was slightly cheaper to go direct with the insurer not the broker. Most if not all insurers I contacted wanted a survey/ report.

That’s interesting, on our boat the same 3 pin sockets are used for shore power or inverter! I suppose it’s when one or other was added and what cabling was available/installed at the time.

Same here, all to do with how the boat is wired up.

They sold the fleet to Richardsons in 2015 so I don't know what Richardsons have done to it since.

If the cable is important might be worth giving Richardsons a bell.

That is exactly what I meant, anything could happen in the time passed, only the current owners will know.

Are you saying Howard that Swan Reflection does not have shore power , if so I am going to get my money refunded.

Swan Reflection was sold years ago, who knows now except the hire yard.

When we get to Wroxham tomorrow is there a launderette and do you have to take your own powder etc?

Yes there is one just a few yards over the bridge. Know that they can do a service wash for you however being a Monday they may be busy, don`t know about taking own powder. Take around 10 £1 coins for wash and drying. Nice lady there by the name of Lesley.

Swancraft were very on the ball with what customers wanted I.e. plenty of hot water, good heating and double battery systems. The calorifier on some boats is the same size as a Watneys party seven :default_norty:

Because they listened to customers and either added things during the winter or built them into the next build where possible.
