  1. https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/23385913.norfolk-broads-boat-owners-taken-court-tolls/ BA will get your money. If you stop the page as soon as it loads you can read it without the stupid subscription popup, can take a couple of refreshes.
  2. Just seen this, seems a bit excessive.
  3. The Swan always has a friendly welcome, the hot pork scratchings are rather nice too. The Grebe is much improved too, beer is always spot on when I stop there for a pint.
  4. Keep the water high at Potter Bridge, keeps Deep Dyke quiet in the summer for fishing.🫣

    Pubs

    Pubs

Does anybody know if any pubs around the broads have any food deals going on at the moment. Cheers
  7. Lovely photo, I believe its reopening this Friday.

    Wide Load

Classic EDP stock photo, it's probably the whole rig, lorry and trailer plus load weights 38t maximum, in my boat building days we sent out a boat we knew was in the region of 40 tons but was put at 65 tons for transport purposes.

    Wide Load

Could be a tight squeeze down the dilham canal from North Walsham.

    Odd One

https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/23276732.norfolk-broads-national-trust-boat-cut-half-somerton/ Who just cuts a boat in half?

  13. If you can moor near the pumping station on the opposite bank to St Benets Abbey there is a footpath that takes you into Upton.
  14. Always a mad angler (including me) ready to go through the ice, the sound of the ice breaking on the bow on a frozen broad still gives me the creeps.
  15. In the early 90s we used to be able to take a canoe through the smaller arches (I was a bit smaller then)
  16. 5 hours ago, Bikertov said: So here is a thought ... 1) Dig / install a temporary water bypass around the bridge 2) Temporarily dam and drain the river in front of and behind the bridge 3) Once drained, support the bridge, dig out and reinstate the foundations to make them stable and stop any further sinking 4) While you are at it, jack up the bridge say 1 foot or so, to match the clearance of the 'new' road bridge, and re-lay the approach roads to match 5) Remove the dams and let the eater back in 6) Job done, and everyone is happy It shouldn't even cost too much in the scheme of things. A bit of Lottery funding maybe ? People have moved whole buildings before, and done far more adventurous stuff. The leaning tower of Pisa has had stabilising work done. It can't be too hard - really ? If your going to build a dam either side put a lock type gate in it, bring the boats in, pump enough water out to get them through then then refill and away you go, sure the BA would consider that.
  17. Friend sent me this of Hickling that he had seen.
  18. I see elsewhere they are closing the barrier at Herbert Woods later today due to another salt surge.
  19. Being a boater and angler I have found if you politely explain its the only mooring left they will generally move as long as you give them time to move their gear, have had to hold out for a minute or 2 to let them move, more often than not there is still room for them to fish in front or behind you, it's just about being nice, of course there's always the one on both sides that give all a bad name.
  20. Drones don't like it if you accidentally cast your fishing line over them so I have heard, dont put up much of a fight reeling them in though.
  21. The Lessingham Star is always good, off the beaten track with a huge garden with small goats and ponies.
  22. Since they changed many Byways to Restricted Byways near where I live if they are not used by farm machinery most are now overgrown, the odd vehicle passing along used to keep them clear.
