  1. Beauchamp Arms isn't open at the minute; lots of work going on but it's still shut. About the only pub you'll get to is the Reedcutter unless you slog right down to Reedham Ferry, which should be less than 2 hours. You could also get into Reedham itself. I'm not sure on how booking moorings at Reedham or the ferry works or if it's possible as I've never tried. Your other option is to head for Loddon or Pye's Mill which shows as an hour and a quarter to Reedham. You can't, to my knowledge, book moorings at Loddon, but Pye's Mill is quite a large mooring and it's only a short walk to the village. Having said that I stopped at Pye's Mill last Monday night after picking up from Brundall and was surprised to see spaces in the basin overnight. Hope something in there helps! Edited to add that Loddon will bring you close to your sunset time; But there are lots of options. I've never seen anyone moored in Pacific's yard even though they have signage out saying federation boats are welcome.
  2. Noble intentions of course, but I'd read elsewhere that the Friends of Horsey Seals had advised people to stay clear and let it find it's own way out, lest it cause permanent damage to the seal. They'd specifically asked people not to try and get it onto a SUP and take it downstream. It's interesting to see that they'd had contradictory advice from elsewhere though.
  3. The Swan is a place I avoid. I mooree there a couple of years ago, paid the tenner to moor thinking I'd get it back when we ate in there (as was advertised on their board) only to be told "oh, I keep meaning to take that off,we don't do that anymore". As for TFI I couldn't agree more, not my sort of place at all. @grendel there is limited space to sit inside, we ate inside on Wednesday once they'd found us a table (having lost our booking). 4. We have the big bouncy orange ones from Silverline, but they gave a very thorough instruction on how they should be worn. I can't help but think people would be more inclined to wear jackets if they were the slimline inflatable type. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  5. Sadly from what I've seen today, no, many haven't. We've just moored on Glebe Farm at Stokesby and the swarms of day boats with kids on the back (with and without lifejackets) is staggering, and that's with daddy at the helm at full throttle. The river is lumpy enough that there are white-toppers out on the river. I love the Broads but today, from the minute we left Gaye's Staithe around 8am, has been utterly gopping. 6. BA Facebook now stating the Bure is open, but moorings as GYYS are full. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  7. Lovely chap he is too, and very efficient. We arrived just after 4, and in the time it took me to shave he'd squeezed another 6 boats in! Also squared away an issue with our booking (I booked early, and before they moved to a new system and our booking got lost in thr ether!) Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  8. The southern cruise was always going to happen as LWS at GY was later today, but I'd only planned on going as far as Stracey! Lazier day tomorrow, just up to Wroxham and then to our booking at Horning. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  9. Had a fantastic day today; left Pye's Mill at 0720 this morning and now moored up at St Benet's, via Oulton Broad YS! Think my batteries will be well and truly charged! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  10. If Stella doesn't suit I've cracked the Lambs [emoji3061] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  11. Picked up Silver Mystaire this afternoon and took a lovely cruise down to Pye's Mill for our first night. Long day's cruising tomorrow, aiming to be off the mooring at around 7am, then crossing Breydon later afternoon and aiming to put in at Stracey. Weather started off pretty pump but it's improved no end! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  12. I have no worries at all about the boat, credit where it's due their boats are fantastic! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  13. I'm not going to go into too many details, but I'm very unlikely to ever go through them again. Sadly my impression so far this year, and indeed 2 years ago when we had Reflection, was not one of a friendly outfit. I will concede that their boats are immaculately maintained and well appointed though.
  14. My wife thinks me a little odd for looking at Broadland on Google maps fairly frequently, but then I introduced her to the Broads only 4 years ago; I'm 35 and can count the years I haven't been on a boat for at least a week on one hand! Certainly some of my earliest memories are of the Broads.
  15. Fair comment, I hadn't thought to do that because the page directly behind is the running times table anyway. I do wonder if sometimes trying to be organised leads to things being even more of a cluster (I've had 18 years "in green" and that's certainly the way things usually go )
  16. I get where you're coming from entirely there Cheesey. I was sat slowly cooking in my garden last week actually glad to not have been on a boat. Weather forecast this week isn't particularly stellar, but I think low 20s and an odd shower is preferable to low 30s and getting sun blasted all day!
  17. As I said to Alan, the idea was to give me the info I wanted to hand and I thought I'd share just in case anyone else could make use of it, but any suggestions would be more than welcome. I could have put more info on there, but I wanted to keep it to one side of A4 and laminated in the front of my folder for quick reference, and at a font size I could actually read
  18. This year was the first time I've gone through Hoseasons; my preference is to book direct with the yard, usually Brinks as they offer a decent military discount and a little hamper for returning customers. The only reason we're going with Silverline is because they appear to be the only fleet operating a little 29' Alpha CC. Next year I'll be reverting back to Brinks direct or giving NBD a go. Hoseasons will certainly never get another booking from me; they've been an utter farce start to finish.
  19. Glorious sunshine is one thing, but a still October morning with mist hanging over the water and a moody sky above is hard to beat. We're picking up from Silverline tomorrow, and a call yesterday confirmed that Hoseasons advised pickup time of 1700 was in fact a load of twaddle! 1400 pickup and heading for Hardley Cross or Pye's Mill depending what time we get under way!
  20. Morning Alan, I've never actually used those; the tide timings were taken from a popular Broads boating information site. I made the sheet up with our hire boat in mind and with the info I wanted to hand so I understand it won't be great for everyone, but I thought someone might get some use out of it even if just to use as a framework/starting point. I'll definitely have a look at the BA tables too now though! @MauriceMynah I've attached the same document as a PDF, see if that works. USEFUL INFO 17 AUG 20.pdf

  22. Go on, what have I missed? I've no doubt there will be something haha! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  23. I collated various information for my week afloat, including tide times, sunrise/sunset, bridge heights and the like into one document for cruise planning. If it's of any use to anyone else, even just to use the template, please help yourself! USEFUL INFO 17 AUG 20.xlsx
  24. Thanks for sharing your story Vaughan; such stories always have a much greater effect knowing the personal story to go with it.
  25. I think the problem lies with the SUP being a vessel that is much easier to fall off of and end up in the drink. Whilst it's not unique in that feature I think it does mean it should be addressed individually. With you all the way and back when it comes to making all river users aware that the byelaws apply to everyone! It could also be said that people need it driving home that they're are in fact laws, not just guidelines or advice.
