  1. Hi Jonny, If it's a 4 stroke then it will be exactly the same as a 4 stroke car engine, unleaded fuel and oil separately. Important thing is if you haven't used a genny before " earth, earth, earth" don't be tempted to run it without a ground rod, it will work but if there is a problem it is a 240v problem.
  2. What would be the cost difference between houseboats and caravans on a floating pontoon.
  3. So I'm supposed to check, clean, service, all before setting off, need to sit down now the thought has made me dizzy.
  4. Hi Jonny, You can get it at Amazon as per link or most camping shops will have it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keyw ... mlka66sc_e
  5. The sad fact is Government don't make cut backs, they have no money, they earn no money, therefore they can't save money. All money the Government play with is ours, regardless of what tax or charge you like to name it's all our money and they simply spend it for us, increase the tax we pay and there is more money to spend. Throw extra money at this or that and taxes have to rise to pay for it, how we decide what the money is spent on is another question based on our own preferences. This is a problem of successive Governments since the 60's running down our manufacturing industries and therefore our ability to bring foreign money into Britain, instead we have borrowed from the IMF/EU and now have to suffer the consiquence.
  6. My first thought was that GY isn't a city it's a town, then I see Hartlepool on the list which is also a town. Anyway I digress, good site very interesting.
  7. That's frightening to watch when thinking of getting your boat lifted.
  8. I'm never sure how to respond when hearing such sad news, whilst I didn't know him as a personal friend I had met him via his pilot duties and always found him helpful and friendly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
  9. I am another who is back with bt after the nightmare of hidden charges, poor service, slow speeds. Change by all means but if your happy with the service your getting "take care "
  10. I should point out that I still have a family, they are just a bit older now On reading my post it sounded as though they had gone.
  11. Many years ago when I had a family so required a larger boat, the northern broads was my destination of choice, why? Because my children hated the south, nothing too look at, nothing to do "their words not mine " When my children were off hand and it was just Carol and myself the south came back on the radar, however, smaller boats(for 2) became the norm. I don't know if this is normal for other people/families but it held true for us.
  12. Ok. I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about' "But" if you have a warm air heating system on the boat could you fit a valved line to the intake manifold ? Sorry if this is total rubbish but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
  13. As well as the above, large yards have office staff, cleaners ect. depending on how large the yard, all of these costs will be added to the hourly rate. You have to choose whether to support the large or small business but remember most operations start small and grow.
  14. Sorry jill-R I'm trying to show off now and go for a multiple you tube post.
  15. Christmas! you mean it's Christmas ? That explains all the coloured lights. Merry Christmas to all.
  16. Yes, yes, yes, I'm a computer genius, yes, yes, yes.
  17. ok. jill-r if this works, your a great teacher, if not then my technophobia continues.
  18. Hi Butterbusk, Nice to have you onboard.
  19. I can confirm that Richo's newletter has no mention of price rises, though Clive has mentioned a possible small rise. I am in the wet shed and support others view that the moorings are good value for money (apart from the rust showers) As for being north or south it's only one days cruising between the two, and cruising is why I have a boat.
  20. I think you've just solved the problem for yourselve' do a "quote" from someone elses post and delete all the text.
  21. Welcome to the paupers club you can now throw away the wallet, don't need one when your broke and you will be.
  22. I remember the apple, orange, nuts' in the Christmas stocking, also got a kaleidescope one year, was well impressed at the time.
  23. From what you say the smilie window opens when you select "view more smilies" from the bottom of the smilie square. When the window disappears have you got the window showing on the bar thingy at the bottom of the screen?
