  1. Some 16/17 years ago whilst on a flight from Edinburgh we were asked to prepare for emergency landing, turns out a warning light was up suggesting the landing gear had failed to engage. It got worse when a fire was detected in the area of the landing gear and we would be landing with a full escort of emergency vehicles. Anyway the point is some guy was doing the full panick bit, crying, shouting, getting in a right state so the stewardess tried to calm him and told him to remember the crash position as shown in the demo, "Demo, Demo I didn't watch it I was reading my book" You can give all the training and video's you like and still get problems, I have probably made every mistake in the book over the years the biggest mistake being complacency, yes that's right "complacency" people are at thier most dangerous when they think they are a expert. :
  2. If you know the guy it was purchased from then he must have had insurance on it, if that is the case he must know the id number. Sorry if that sounds obvious but I would expect getting a new id might be understandably difficult.
  3. I wish it were that easy, you guys are obviously very rich. Boulters £1.15 Le-Boat £1.49 So if I fill up with 100 ltrs thats £34 difference, £34 is a lot of money to me I wish it wasn't but that's life.
  4. I still find that high for a 60/40 price, Asda self service were £1.37 this morning for full duty paid road diesel, if they are selling 100% duty paid for that price how can 60/40 be £1.49? I find fuel prices very confusing
  5. didn't explain myself very well I was looking at the polysoft rope http://www.ropesandtwines.com/proddetai ... ing%5Frope
  6. I'm another that has heard them yet never seen them. 2 weeks ago I was working in the garage at home whilst my wife was sitting in the lounge watching the bird feeder, arrive one Hoopoe. I've never heard one, never seen one, they're as rare as hens eggs (in Britain) and she didn't call me I have seen the odd blue tit and blackbird
  7. Thanks for the reply Paul and Lorna, have you checked whether it floats or not (as stated) I'm thinking of it being idiot proof with respect to prop wrap.
  8. I am looking to replace my mooring lines and wonder if anyone has tried this stuff, if so was it any good, total rubbish, ok. for the money. many thanks in anticipation. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-X-10-MTS-14 ... 0414080860
  9. If your looking to buy a cob I can recommend them as mine works a treat, they do cost quite a lot but go to the right place and they will move on the price. I got the cob, grill, frying pan, and £25 discount, if they won't deal try someone else, they all sell it at the full price so you won't lose out by haggling.
  10. You could argue that without the Abbey who controlled the peat digging we wouldn't have any broads.
  11. This might give you some detail. http://www.edp24.co.uk/norfolk-life/nor ... y_1_214324
  12. If you look at the last page of the report there is a paragraph about another problem with Fame mixed diesel, old diesel would work at temperatures as low as -7 degrees to -14 degrees, the Fame mix can have problems from +1 degree. Soltron and Star tron are both kerosene based and improve the cold start properties of diesel.
  13. HA, there is a good article here that might give you what you want. http://content.yudu.com/A1tjuq/PBOMayar ... ferrerUrl=
  14. I can,t believe I'm going to miss seeing the boat before it goes, I moor in the wet shed and keep saying every times I'm there "must go and see " but never end up getting around to it. Clive when will the next one be ready for a look see, I'll make aa special effort to see it before it leaves.
  15. Hi Woodwose, It's a great site, I particularly liked the Boardman family albums it's so nice to see a family through the years, seeing the young children grow up and become adults is quite something. And of course the whole thing played out with a broads backdrop.
  16. I agree that the police should use education in this case. Put the culprits in a barrel and set them adrift.
  17. If £1.60 is a 60/40 split then I'm Prince Charles.
  18. The 60/40 split allows 60% fuel for the engine and 40% for heating, the heating side has a much lower duty rate than the engine, it's all to do with the tax/duty payments collected by HMRC. At this time of year I wonder if the yards are automatically claiming the reduced rate on the 40% and just not passing on the saving.
  19. If you have only just returned from a trip I think you may have needed the warm air running for at least some of the day/night, if that was the case you should have got the fuel at the 60/40 price.
  20. Welcome aboard, If you do decide to set up in psycho babel on the broads there are plenty of customers, knowone who owns a boat can be all sane.
  21. Subsidy or Grant. I know it sounds daft at first glance but if a rusting heap of iron at Yarmouth can have hundreds of thousands in lottery and council money, then why not Horning ferry. Come up with a strong argument, historic significance, public service, job security, local economy, it might not work but is worth a try.
  22. Hi Jonny, not sure how helpful this is going to be, "but" I remember reading a thread on this or another site about this subject yet can't find it now. I have a feeling that there was a boat mentioned that was suitable for disabled access and keep coming up with Barns Brinkcraft? might be worth giving them a ring. I will post again if I can find the original thread.
  23. As with most things I am not an expert with aerials, these people are however and it makes interesting reading. Hope the link works http://www.paras.org.uk/02-myths.shtml
  24. That looks fine Jonny, you'll need a minimum of 4mm earth lead to run between the genny and the rod.
  25. I did mine online, the telephone line Wanted to change the boat name at the same time.
