  1. Bill - methinks its not you fighting a rearguard action nor a pointless one! More power to your elbow.....! ( Whats the Latin for that please??? ) Happy to help you on your way when necessary...!!!!!! Balance must, and will, prevail.....!!!!!
  2. Several new ones up for sale at around £245k as well through NBS - i am a bit the other way as I prefer the old Diamond, especially as I have one!!!
  3. Most of the unwanted moulds at Rackheath were just chopped up from dinghies to larger boats - I did approach the administrators about a smaller mould but they just did not want to know, I am afraid. Its good to see the old Diamond 35 mould being resurrected by BB with the added bit, - just shows how some moulds could actually stand the test of time in design terms.
  4. I don't think anyone would ever say that that you did not see a crane near the Acle Straight, but more likely that you might have seen the stork, that is or was often seen, in that area and who lives in the Thrigby Wildlife Park just a mile or so away, and who is free flying! The two can be confused because of their similar size. As the colony living up and around Hickling gets larger they are now seen more widely over the area but both birds are quite large and can be mistaken from a distance!!!!! However they remain very secretive birds and hide away on the ground but especially up near Hickling can be seen in the fields feeding, usually in a group. Sociable birds, most often seen in group!!! (Cue for the joke of the day? )
  5. It's hardly the "friendly" Forum anymore - unless of course you want to join in knocking the BA ! The trouble is that when they do something worth knocking, no one will take any real notice then either! Reminds me a bloke called Prokofiev....!!
  6. Far be it for taking issue with those with marketing knowledge, I recall not too long ago (by my standards! ) a poll of some Norfolk, or Suffolk, school children in the EDP, and of those polled, well under 50%, knew what a Broad was! Perhaps we do need to start at home in this area!
  7. Very sadly, I have to inform all those who think otherwise, that I am neither in the "pro" or "anti" camp!!! I am very much a fence sitter for many reasons and I will not change unless I see real evidence that the current status quo is about to change, and even then I have no idea which way I will slip off that fence, simply because, at that time, something else could have occurred, to influence me. Either that or I will have pegged it and then my views will be irrelevant!!! There is absolutely no reason, hot topic or not, to believe that anything has changed - we are not a NP and IMHO no closer than we were 6 mths ago, or 2 years ago, despite 41 pages of posts on this topic alone, and many countless others, which suggest otherwise. I actually do not believe for one minute for example, that if we were ever to become a NP, that conservation would actually take priority over navigation - and do not point me towards a hearsay conversation some 10 or more years ago, or something written that may be out of date! Recognise that things change and do, so I will wait until or if, definitive proposals are made and decide on the evidence at that moment in time - and then, and only then will I go one way or the other!! So until then, you can post what "evidence" you like and convince yourselves of plots, sub plots, conspiracies or otherwise, and I shall continue to point out to the protagonists that there is actually another view and that those held by those individuals are by no means necessarily in the majority!! (except on this Forum!! ) As you know I am a great believer in that "other" view!! If only in the cause of "balance"! Sorry if I have disappointed some of you!!!!!!
  8. Apart from the BA is there actually a pro BNP camp??? I know where the centre of the anti one is, but a pro one....????
  9. Reading the comments on both the issue and the Loddon councillor by readers of the EDP are interesting - views seem pretty split unlike this Forum!!!! https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/politics/fury-over-broads-national-park-signs-put-up-in-loddon-parish-council-authority-1-6516109 (You do have to scroll through a load of squit to get to them at the bottom) - good to see PW upholding his honour!!!!
  10. There is indeed a hump just around Dungeon Corner of which the BA are aware - I believe that they may be doing something about it this winter, or if water temperatures rise sufficiently to cause dredging to come to halt in those areas this winter, it may have to wait until next year. I guess it is not always easy to get the kit they need up above Potter and I suspect that alone causes problems and planning. Presumably rather than whinge, you did report this problem to Broads Control? I think that most of the BA workers in the field work pretty hard and I don't think it very smart to make make stupid remarks on a Forum without finding out more - you could easily have stopped and asked them why they were not doing anything and I would have expected a pretty sensible reply. You should be aware that that stretch is cut regularly as suggested and also that all weed cutting is regulated by Natural England.. Strangely enough that stretch of the river is not the only one that has to be cut either! As well as dredging the shallow bits on Heigham Sound again this winter, especially around the junction with Meadow Dyke, I believe this winter the bottom half of Waxham Cut has been dredged, with the remaining to be done next winter. Catfield Dyke has also been mud pumped I think - cannot have all of them being totally idle then can we???
  11. 2015 news article! Anything new? And do you actually KNOW that people come here for what it is? I wonder how many come here because they think it is a NP? Just asking......!!!
  12. Indeed - all caused by a lot of hot air!!!!!
  13. Sorry to disappoint you ST but even I think there is an issue - whether or not it is a crisis only time will tell!! I also have to inform you that I believe the Earth is round, the Americans did land on the Moon, and Potter Bridge is not sinking!!!
  14. Griff - rightly or wrongly its the EA, I believe, who have the final say on dredging. Perhaps you could ask them if it has any purpose? Its above my pay scale I am afraid, but one view I have heard is that without it, if indeed it exists, Gt Yarmouth could well be even more prone to flooding. As you know there are several low lying areas in that vicinity which have flooded badly in the past, and they are currently raising the walls yet again in certain areas. Not my original thought I hasten to add, before anyone shoots me down again.........!!
  15. No PW it does not matter that possibly only the Scottish NP's have direct elections, but I was merely pointing out that you had to live in the Park to vote, thereby possibly disqualifying boat owners, should elections ever be called for here if the same rules applied - which they may not!!
  16. I did think the yards hiring this time of year, were not at all happy with boats going south, or north, this time of year?
  17. No doubt someone will check it out, but I thought only the Scottish NP's had direct elections - well I think so!!! You should probably also be aware that to vote, you have to live in them, or so I believe - now that would put the cat amongst the pigeons and disqualify quite a few here!!!!! But no doubt I have probably got even that wrong, and someone will point out the error of my ways!! Incidentally go back a few years, and I think this very topic and argument about Sandford, was discussed here and very little proof was ever produced that it would result in closing navigation but thats what the opponents of the whole NP argument believe - personally I doubt it. I suspect too, that the Glover report will be largely ignored as they are too busy with other things, but if it were to be adopted, you can almost guarantee it would give the same protections to AONB's as well. P.S. Probably got the apostrophes wrong and a few split infinitives included as well!!!!
  18. One yard in Womack is just about to extend its basin and that will involve digging out peat I suspect, and that application was not refused, so perhaps that was NOT the specific point in issue as far as the proposed Richardson's development was concerned!
  19. Makes a change from having too much!!!!!!!
  20. Thats about it , in a nutshell! BUT there is no evidence, of course, they would seek to apply the Sandford Principle! Now I will go back to trying to understand a much more current threat, that of split infinitives!!!!!!!!
  21. Hang on - I don't really care one way or the other and in any case, its off topic!!
  22. Just shows how you can get two differing interpretations of the same thing - the founder on the site says the Society has closed, but that the website will continue for "..reference and examples.." - you just don't know who to believe these days!
  23. I hasten to say the "some" bit was me - having been corrected by ST, I will return to my revision of the use of quotes and perhaps apostrophes within the English language, although as far as the latter are concerned, I was interested to see that the bloke who ran "The Apostrophe Protection Society" has had to give up the unequal struggle and had to accept that people will never learn to use them properly!!!!
  24. "Some " people are reacting as they see fit PW - not sure if it is the majority!
