  1. Thanks BS, This is how my screen looks (I don't get the "More Reply Options" or "Add to Reply" buttons, but hey ho it works after a fashion) Rgds, Steve
  2. Early morning pics at Beccles (best of bunch) BUT both those were supposed to be attachments I'm doing something wrong...
  3. If you count them up there's quite a few of us. I'm one of those that lurks in the background these days (only because I don't have much to say)
  4. Jules, I wish there were more live webcams up there Check out antics at the "capital" of the Broads (should be busy with today being a Sunday):- http://www.barnesbrinkcraft.co.uk/webcam2/ Have a good holiday Steve
  5. I have good reason to agree with this, since the only time we have had anything wrapped around the prop was in the dark between Marina Keys and Vauxhall Bridge. The engine stopped dead and we drifting back upstream with the tide (until I brought us alongside with multiple sideways "launchings" of the mudweight) .. and there we spent the night. Would not have fancied doing that on a falling tide...
  6. Our family tree was planted by a man from Norfolk who has since returned to his native county. He comes and admires it from time to time. The flippin enormous thing is a sycamore and it's siblings populate the entire area, much to the annoyance of my neighbour....
  7. Ahhh Pin Mill... I first saw it from the deck of a sailing barge (in 1966 would you believe) Lovely area Good luck with the move Ian
  8. She gets around a bit:- http://www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk/register/2282/lady-beryl --- Sorry to contradict earlier info, but George Formby's "Heronby" is in Beech Rd, Wroxham, backing onto the river and the former B&B of the same name is in Belaugh (also backing onto the river). Steve
  9. Watch the first 4 minutes and the challenge is whether you can pull yourself away before watching the whole video:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM46NBf1DMo
  10. St. Olaves (since 2001) Rgds, Steve T.
  11. Thanks both for the replies. I need new mooring ropes, so I shall be giving the "rope services" people an order. Alan, I see that you're just down the road from me. That's 2 of us with 4+ marinas on our doorsteps and yet we choose to travel over 130 miles to our moorings!
  12. Where do you buy your rope? This on-line supplier looks good "on paper." I like the fact that you can specify how the ends are made off (and the prices are good too). Has anyone any experience of this supplier?:- http://www.ropeservicesuk.com/mooring-ropes/navy-blue-mooring-ropes/12mm-navy-blue-mooring-rope-from-0.90-per-metre

  15. Quite a Kentish contingent massing on here thesedays Can't beat the Broads (or find Little Sharpie or Nelson's Revenge down here anywhere for that matter!) Ellaboat of Chatham
  16. Well... Yet another boat owner visiting this thread to sing Richard's praises. He certainly looked after us when we dropped in the other day as we passed through Bramerton. We wanted to get a small canopy problem sorted before the winter finally arrives in earnest. Richard dropped what he was doing to fix it while we waited and then wanted next to nothing for the work! Steve
  17. Hi Perry, All o.k. here thanks. Boat o.k. too ....now! Best part of a year out of water resulted in dried out original (very old) wooden keel and leaking keel bolts, so we were slowly sinking when lowered back in. Superb help from St. Olaves Marina with multiple lifts at awkward times (while I fixed the keel problem) and engineering help from Chris (one of the marina owners) supplying and replacing a faulty seacock at little notice, and then bending double in the engine compartment to fit it. Even Rona from the office offered to lay under the boat with an adjustable spanner. I couldn't let her do that but I am hugely impressed with the enthusiastic and selfless service that I received from all at St. Olaves. Regards to all the Shotley crew, Steve
  18. Bill, If it helps you decide, the EPS-100W has the higher ouput capacity EPS-100W = 24 volt / 100 watt MPS35 = 24 volt / 75 watt The CR65 draws an avewrage of 40 watts (with a substantially higher surge at start up) Rgds, Steve
  19. Apologies if someone else has also discussed this (I have not seen it)... Just seen that Le Boat will be operating from a second base next year (2012). As well as Horning, they are going to start operating from Somerleyton. I can think of only one place that could accommodate them. Have they bought out the private moorings there??? Steve
  20. Owners of shiny new boats will probably never encounter this, but when you own a 36 year old jobby like ours (that had original window and seals) the final conclusion that you will inevitably come to is that there is no alternative to removing and overhauling all the windows. We tried creeping crack cure etc. You name it, we tried it. It was all to no avail (and as a bonus, every time that we washed the exterior, we had black streaks down the superstructure from the disintegrating rubber window seals). The single most satisfying investment that we ever made in the boat is to have all the windows removed, overhauled and refitted professionally. This included new "U" shaped rubber seals in the frames and mechanical repairs to frames that were coming apart. It has literally transformed the interior into a totally damp proof environment, with revisits after weeks of bad weather finding it exactly as it was left. We used BK windows in Brundall, on recommendation of an ex local hire fleet operator Steve
