  1. Bless. Doublethink is the act of ordinary people simultaneously accepting two mutually contradictory beliefs as correct, often in distinct social contexts.[1] Doublethink is related to, but differs from, hypocrisy and neutrality. Somewhat related but almost the opposite is cognitive dissonance, where contradictory beliefs cause conflict in one's mind. Doublethink is notable due to a lack of cognitive dissonance — thus the person is completely unaware of any conflict or contradiction.
  2. Absurd nonsense. People here supporting the case because it will annoy Packman, when the objectives of the stupidly rich litigants it to impose Sandford? One really important change we could all make is spelling "lose" and "losing" right. Now that would improve the world.
  3. THP are definitely there - we have hired from them. `not cheap... 01603 784777
  4. Because everywhere I see this written it seems to be written LIE. I read PARANOIA.
  5. What a shame that the thread wasn't called "gosh, hooray the BA have plans for lots of things apart from rebranding" Then perhaps it might have focussed on those other issues. Not the LIE of calling the broads a National Park. Note, the word LIE should always be capitalised.
  6. Luckily you alerted us to the fact that no one was doing anything about anything. We can sleep safe in our beds. Sarcasm is the lowest form of whit.
  7. Since you have linked to a thread on another site, I will post here one more time. You accuse me on that other place of being "Bumble Bee". I am not Bumble Bee and you should swiftly apologise. A discussion forum is a place for people to air different views. It seems that if you disagree with some people you get attacked.
  8. I note that to disagree is to "pointlessly argue" and "sitting on the sidelines, nitpicking, point scoring and trying to undo the good work of others" and to be disappointed is "aggressive". Mote? Plank? Eye? Good luck with everything. I'm done.
  9. Really disappointed with your response.
  10. Paladin, I am genuinely confused that you don't understand my post. I will explain.. You said "307 people out of 428 = over 71% agreeing with petition. Any politician would give his eye teeth for such support." But 307 people have voted out of NOT 428 people, but over 60 million people in the country who could vote. Surely you understand the point that the TOTAL number for the whole country is 307, yet I would expect most of the PRESSURE GROUP to vote. I'm a bit surprised that I am having to say this.
  11. I am a concerned member of the broads community. Do you have some special power Mr Waller that makes you more concerned?
  12. Paladin, do I have to point out in what manner this is totally wrong? 307 people out of 428 = over 71% agreeing with petition. Any politician would give his eye teeth for such support.
  13. Paladin, I really think you are missing the point. The Facebook page Protect the Broads, we are not a National Park, whose only reason to exist is to oppose the name change has 400-odd members. Surely it would be reasonable to expect most of them to agree with a petition that makes that case? Yet despite the petition being widely publicised on several Broads fora, only 300-odd people agree with it. If I was a BA basher, to use a simplification, I would be gutted because this demonstrates I am in a minority, however loud a few people shout.
  14. What frustrates me about this forum and others, is that if you read them you would get the impression that everybody hates and distrusts the BA. In fact, many posters write as if this is a reasonable assumption. I think we now have some evidence that that is not the case. The current petition is written as a clear vote of no confidence in the BA. 307 people, about 100 less than joined the Facebook group, Protect the broads, we are not a national park, from whence the petition originated, plainly do subscribe to this view. This is, by every reasonable measure, a minority. The majority, I believe, do not share this view but generally sit by and say nothing.
  15. So 307 people out of 64.1 million support the petition.
  16. There are 12000 toll payers and 73000 residents in the Broadland constituency. This is a referendum on the proposition : we hate the BA. I predict you will be losing your deposit.
  17. I think some here should take notice of this petition. It is profoundly anti-BA in tone. Only 161 people have signed it so far despite it being widely discussed on Broads forums and the Facebook page Protect the Broads they are not a National Park, which has nearly 400 members. Democracy is a wonderful thing. I don't think this is apathy, it is the majority saying they do not agree with your BA bashing. Take note.
  18. Why have you moved to this forum?
