  1. Langley Dyke?, place is a real dump, don't go there everybody, you won't like it at all .
  2. That's a very difficult question to answer Helen. I have so many favoured places, the first is Loddon, because it was the very first time we hired a boat from Aston, and I've had a love like no other for it ever since. Add to that the town Quay has water and 240v, plus great eateries, shops, takeaways etc, it ticks all boxes. Then there's Dilham Staithe, being very quiet and peaceful with very little in the way of facilities, but lovely. Womack Water gets a nod, very sociable, and with good shops and a pub in the village. Hoveton Viaduct moorings, for stunning Riverside location, plus all the village facilities 5 minutes walk. There are lots more, but in reality, they're all pretty special.
  3. With The Sandford Principal in the background of an NP, I doubt that would fit the idea. And with all that distance to the coast, would it be feasible?. That said, do the boat owners of Brundall really want it,?.
  4. Yes, the Diamond 43 is the perfect cruiser for the Broads. Now if they could build one out of wood, even Grendel would like them
  5. There are still some moulds standing at Brooms, I'm surprised nobody has taken them over to build boats.
  6. We have only ever been in there twice, both times when we hired from Bridgecraft, and had our last night meal in there. The food was OK, not exactly Gordon blue (or whatever his name is? 😂), but half the plate was covered in chips. However, that was a few years back now, so hopefully, there will nowadays be a bit more of the main course on the plate.
  7. Nothing to do with Cranes but I did see a very large brown bird of prey, with white underparts flying around Rockland Broad. It was considerably larger than a Marsh Harrier, so I wondered whether it was an Osprey, as I did read somewhere that they have been spotted on the Broads.
  8. The drive back from Gravesend back to home was eventful this morning, rain all the way, along with dense 'spray' from large trucks and standing water, and with the constant use of windscreen wipers being very hypnotic, it's no wonder i had to stop at the Winchester services for some fresh air and a coffee, I was nearly falling asleep. On the plus side, at least the wind had dropped, so Karen's car did'nt get blown all over the motorways, though the sheer amount of standing water ment lots of spray, and a couple of times the car was aquaplaning. All in all, we were really glad to get home. Now it's chill out time.
  9. Yeah, it's you and bb. Come on marshy admit it, you know you want to 😂p
  10. Pretty good actually, the Triumph stand was always packed, and they had the live action arena, which we DID'NT really like, as it was noiey and when in action, people gathered around it and blocked the aisles. Strangely, I found more interest in the sub 400cc class, with some stunning looking 125s and 250 / 300s.Some of the electric bikes looked good too.
  11. Laying in bed in a hotel room listening to the roar of the gusting wind, absolutely brilliant. I don't know why, but there's something awesome about being out in this sort of weather. Karen DOES'NT share my enthusiasm for this kind of wear her, I said I'd love to be on Lightning tucked up and safe in somewhere sheltered like Loddon or Rockland, she did'nt agree for some reason?. Living in Dorset, we have the Purbeck hills just in from the coast, and there's a lane that runs pretty much along the top of them. I always imagine how exciting it would be to take drive over the, park up in one of the car parks beside that lane, and go for a good walk along the hill tops while well wrapped up, aiming for a cafe where you can have a nice cup of tea and a hot pasty or bacon, sausage and cheese baguette, then walk back filling your lungs with all that fresh air. It's simple things like that that can really make you feel alive and fresh. This sort of of weather gives me a real buzz, it makes me excited to get outdoors a love mother nature in all her glory, does that make me wierd?. All we've got to do now is drive 140 miles home in it 😂.
  12. Why not, Drascombrs are well known for their sea keeping qualities?. 😂
  13. We do a similar thing when we go over Postwick viaduct over the Yare.
  14. Blow up up that bridge and allow large boats up there, that would chew up the weeds.
  15. But others certainly don't, Loddon pc has formerly requested they be removed immediately because NCC NEVER requested they be put there, and the residents and villagers voted against them at a meeting. I wonder how many others have not been formerly asked?. I believe others have done the same, but am not sure on that, I think it may have been posted on this thread somewhere?.
  16. Yes I remember 'The Bargee', Harry H Corbett was the skipper with Ronnie Barker as his mate. I remember Harry Hs name was 'Hemel' because he was named from where he was born (Hemel Hempstead), and the line where he tells someone why he's called, and Ronnie Barker replies "good job you was'nt born in Birkhampstead then ain't it'. 😂
  17. I love the ones where they build the cedar strip canoes, they look absolutely amazing.
  18. Yes, that's right. However, if you prefer naked roadsters, try the Speed Twin, I have one, and it's bloody awesome. So much torque and acceleration. Living down here in Dorset, she's all you will ever need performance wise.
  19. Have you ever ridden any?. If so, which ones?.
  20. No, I haven't had a sheltered life at all, I grew up in a couple of council estates and went to a school which eventually got closed down because it was 12th from bottom in the tables, so it's easier ti close it because they failed to bring it round. That was a great many years after I left though. Your point about the issues re soap operas have in their story lines is exact as Helen says, they are rare occurances, but according to script writers, are happening every day in every street, which quite clearly they aren't. Remember that God awful programme Peeky Blinders?, look at a lot of the younger generation now, and a lot of them are sorting the hairstyles and mannerisms portrayed in the series. TV has a great influence on impressionable people, what a shame the script writers tend to write scripts that leave such a disgusting impression.. Bring back 'Watch With Mother' I say 😌.
  21. Hi Ian, to see or especially to accept another point of view would mean you never have any faith or belief in your own view, so it`s no surprise when people don`t do it. However, i think it more important (as do many) to "respect" another persons point of view or opposition. I`ve disagreed with many posts and points of view on this forum for a great many years, marshman would agree to that, as would Strowager from the past, and a number of others. But i have, and always will respect their point of view and opinions, as well as their rite to aire them, no matter how barking mad they may be , or if i make a bit of a sarcastic remark. We`re all human, and all different, and believe in different things and ways, so just respect that, and don`t hold any animosity to others. Now, if anybody slags off Triumph motorcycles ...............................................
  22. I absolutely 100% totally agree with you. Karen (much to my dismay) watches earbenders and emmerdale religiously, even recording it incase she misses it, or we go out. She glued to the bloody things, and i hate them. Of late, they`ve had really nasty story lines with murder, stalking, rape, all the most vile of story lines. You know full well whenever they have a marraige in the script, someone is going to bed the bride or groom the week or day before the wedding. They are just plain awful, and i honestly think they should be banned, as they don`t "represent" what happens every day in real life within a so called community, but they do incite people to live their lives in the same manner. Ban the sodding lot of them i say.
  23. I think crack heads started drinking it........ man 😂
  24. Yes I am when I meet people, very much so.
  25. Have a few beers first before you try saying it John?. 😂
