  1. Surely any "air bridges" will depend upon the destination also agreeing to one! If the example of New Zealand recently is anything to go by, I supect they will not be queuing up methinks!

The Med holiday destinations that rely so much on the British Holiday £ will be more than welcoming I reckon.

  2. I normally avoid these nightly TV briefings but I have just sat through tonight's, for what it was worth.
I think the obvious answer is that I should contact the Broads Authority and re-register my motor cruiser as a "support bubble".

Travel from France and quarantine for 14 days on board.......

  3. I'm being a bit wary on the next release as the BLM protests could knock the rates back up but it will take 2-3 weeks to know, most protesting are younger healthy people that may not not know if they are infected so won't show till they pass on to someone else making it a 2x incubation period to see.
The worrying thing is that the majority protesting are in the group most likely to be seriously affected (or their older relatives) according to the ethnic breakdown of hospital cases, it appears viruses can get away with discrimination.

Not sure we saw a negative effect from VE Day that many predicted?
I also remember the news showing “packed” beaches in Southend on 20th May. I purposely went into the gov.uk data file to see how many positive tests Southend are reporting since. I seem to recall it is single figures although obviously not everybody was from southend.

  4. I think any release for overnight staying, will be announced by Boris himself, he seems to keep good news to his presentations.
If the R doesn't go up in the next 2 weeks release may be given.

I personally think in general we need to love away from the fixation on the “R value”. With such smaller numbers the R value is going to be more volatile and it will move around.

  5. and PS. yes we are open for takeaway food and drink selling fresh beer when people are struggling to get hold of any! But we are doing so withing the government regulations and in conjunction with advice from local council.

  6. According to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust......"In light of the Government’s measures to tackle the spread of coronavirus, the boardwalk is closed."

  7. This applies to all pubs, so yes, you would have to collect and consume elsewhere as things stand now. I assume they would include land based trade too, not just water bourne traffic. They would just need to arrange a serving point and social distancing etc. There are a few pubs doing this now and they seem very well organised. Help to keep them afloat if you'll excuse the pun. Admiral are one of the few good guys among the Pub Co's and along with Adnams are not demanding rent during lock down.

The Lion at Thurne was doing this very well and I think you can now order online.

My pint of beer was served in a plastic milk carton :-)

  8. Must be the only syndicate boat out Matt as the Brundall ones were all sat on their moorings. Are you just using as a day boat?
    John

Yes, day boating only but at 240 miles round trip it won’t be often!

Silver Cloud was out for the day.

  9. Monday was certainly busier than yesterday on the rivers. Yesterday we went to Neatishead for lunch. Just squeezed in:

  11. The later Buccaneer range had narrower decks, but a substantial cut away from cabin sides to coachroof.  Lightning has exactly the same and was designed to go through the blockage, and she was built in the 90s. Sadly now it will hardly ever get under. But even if she could, our syndicate rules and insurance does`nt allow it.
YOU`RE ONLY SUPPOSED TO BLOW THE BLOODY BRIDGE UP. Taken from that great film "The Italian Job", though very slightly modified. :default_gbxhmm: :default_laugh:

Out of interest how does your insurance policy stop you passing under Potter Heigham Bridge?

  12. If anyone reading this decides they don't have a spare but want one then you could i) ring your local main dealer and pay about 150 for a space saver or alternatively ring your local scrap yard and they will usually be able to find you a matching alloy wheel for half the cost, usually with a decent tyre ready fitted (unless of course you have twenty one inch rims, or AMG wheels or something similar)

Did just that with my i20 but then the Tucson came with a full size alloy spare!

  13. As above but don’t forget that whilst up for sale owners are still responsible for the costs every month and at this time of year a few hundred quid for the winter maintenance.

Special Shares - I think Thunder is unique of the BCBM managed boats in having this. Essentially there are two*4 week shares and one 2 weeks share which have priority in the allocation chart. Essentially they are school holiday shares.

We have just given the go ahead for a front bathroom refurb on Thunder which should be completed over the winter.
