  1. So with Thunder we have stuck with the Sat am turnaround but have to be in the yard on a Friday afternoon for the engineer visit. We would still have had a Saturday turnaround if it was available but finding yards willing to do the Sat turnaround proved impossible.

I can see the benefit of a Friday if you wanted to just visit for a weekend, rather then the whole week.

It's the standard IALA buoyage system so anything else would be completely wrong, be grateful they don't use withies (normal folk call them sticks), I seem to recall the rule on the upper Alde  is if it has a branch left on it's a port otherwise it's a starboard marker (which may have a plastic milk bottle over it). :default_biggrin:

I do get that- I did my day skipper a couple of years back and it just adds to the complexity 😃

But on Breydon, sometimes there are posts, some are painted better than others, some have a white cap on, some don’t, sometimes there are no posts, sometimes there are buoys. It could just be made better.

The cynic in me says ‘how much?’  I can’t imagine that they'd be cheap, given their current price for diesel.  Having bought the pub, they already have a coffee/snack bar on site where they had evening entertainment one day last week and another planned for 18th May, boat, water lodge, dayboat and bike hire, they’re clearly going for market domination in Brundall.

Interestingly, White Heron ( the super luxury 2 berth boat they advertised a few weeks ago), is still missing from their website.

    Somebody is buying their diesel!

Not a bad programme. I knew it was coming as we had the camera crew aboard our boat in September with the Bridge Pilot.

Our bridge passage didn't make the cut as the family aboard Fair Countess were probably more what they were looking for than a group of local lads in their forties with half a ton of beer aboard.

My mate did get about three seconds of screen time (he's the one casting off for the pilot) and there was a forward view of the boat (Topaz). In both of those shots I was stood right next to the cameraman so wasn't going to get in shot really.

Did you need the half a ton of beer to get under the bridge?!

What was the bridge height when you went through? Not acres of room when Fair Countess went through - Asking for a friend. They did show the clearance in the programme but I don’t know if it was filmed at the same time.

Certainly is.  Brooms have suggested that a larger prop may be required to bring the engine revs down as they believe it’s sitting around 100rpm too high for a given speed, but to try it and see how we get on.  At least it’s not 2000rpm at 5mph!!

No mention of a different pitch or a for bladed though.  Before diving in, I think we need to get the optimum size calculated properly.

Good luck getting it calculated properly- too many cooks and all that 😃 might just as well ask @oldgregg who called ours pretty early!

Did you leave the gearbox untouched?

  6. Couple of things from me:

    1) Don’t forget boats don’t have to stay north of south. We moved Thunder from Brundall to Horning following an owners vote.

    2) Those front v berths sometimes have an infill which makes it one big bed. We have it on Thunder but not sure if ES of MS have one?

Some people want four weeks, some people want 2 weeks,  some people want a couple months- one size rarely fits all in the syndicate world!

Back to Richardsons !  If anyone is interested some of the boats for sale have appeared on the Boat Shed sales site, they are quite good as they take a lot of photos.

Some of them are looking fairly tired so it's easy to see why they are moving them on.

I just watched the “start up” video of the lowliner. Is the flashing red light and siren like noise standard on Richos cruisers?! There’s no slipping away quietly without waking the crew with all that going on!
