The saloon in our boat is trimmed with cherry wood and we noticed this weekend that it is showing signs of  distress where it is continually exposed to sunlight with tiny splits starting to appear. Does anyone know of an application that can help?.It has a silky finish rather than  a high gloss,

Sounds like a silk or matt finish has been used, all fruit woods are very prone to slitting, is it the wood or the finish that has split

Gentle sand with fine abrasive and refinish with a UV protective finish of your choice, will keep you out of mischief for a while.

Hi Stuart,

I like the concept of working with these woods, but I do not like many of the finished results, the skill of the turner is appreciated but to me they never look finished off and have little practical use.

I guess it is just a question of art.

Hi Stuart,

I was reading the ingredients in something the other day and it included Carnauba Oil! I have used this in a wax form when turning.

I have to say the range of products on your stand is very impressive.
