Family & friends tell me that they have seen an increase in adder numbers around the Broads in recent years so this article would seem to be of importance to those of you with dogs:

Last Monday I walked from Burnham Overy Staithe to the beach which is about 1.5 miles nearing the marrams I saw two Adders. Terrier breeds are more likely to have a go and get bitten. It was an unusual Febuary day, even on the North Coast at 1500 it was 14C. So reptiles start to wake up, but they are slow, defensive and liable to strike when it gets warm early.
