JennyMorgan
Family & friends tell me that they have seen an increase in adder numbers around the Broads in recent years so this article would seem to be of importance to those of you with dogs: http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/environment/vets_warning_to_dog_owners_after_staffordshire_bull_terrier_is_bitten_by_adder_in_great_yarmouth_area_1_4906182
ChrisB
Last Monday I walked from Burnham Overy Staithe to the beach which is about 1.5 miles nearing the marrams I saw two Adders. Terrier breeds are more likely to have a go and get bitten. It was an unusual Febuary day, even on the North Coast at 1500 it was 14C. So reptiles start to wake up, but they are slow, defensive and liable to strike when it gets warm early.
JamesLV
Luckily(?) our Patterdale doesn't go off the lead so hopefully this isn't an issue, but totally echo what ChrisB says, terriers by their nature will seek out danger and taunt it...
vanessan
With two terriers, I am grateful for this information and warning. Thank you JM.
