JennyMorgan Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 From Gorleston Coastguard today: No casualties, apparently the boats will be towed off at high water tonight. Quote
KaptinKev Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 For some it seems to be rocket science to stay between the posts, unless the wind got the better of them, which is unfortunate if it did. Quote
Maxwellian Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 I have not yet managed to wander outside of the posts, put they are confusing sometimes especially if distracted. Never mock the afflicted, you never know when it might be you. :) 3 Quote

JohnK Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Sorry for the newbie question but is that why Breydon gets shut to hire boats?Broads boats can get blown out of the channel in high winds?I’ve only ever crossed it in good conditions or in a powerboat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Timbo Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Hi John, Breydon has always had its dangers for navigation. Mudflats, strong flows on entrances and exits, fog and strong wind... the occasional bit of 'wave action' as a result can be tricky, particularly for those new to boating. So as a precaution Breydon will be closed to hire boats on the presumption, not always correct, that the hire boater will not be as familiar with navigation and particularly Breydon. In good conditions, following the navigation posts, Breydon is a joy to cross...the birdlife is amazing. 2 Quote
JohnK Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Thanks for that Timbo. Couldn’t agree more about Breydon. We spend a lot of time on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
