fishfoxey
My depth gauge hasn't worked for months with no power to it, I have finally found the fault and rectified it. However now it's working the readings seem off, my question is if the unit has been without power for a while does it need resetting up , and if so how? Thx
Smoggy
Is the transducer sitting in oil? Any air gap will mess up readings, normally they will sit in a bonded in tube full of oil, castor oil is fine. They can be glued to the hull but there must be no air bubbles.
JawsOrca
I never got ours to work when inside the hull.. It used to work on our other boat but anything which attached to it would throw it out.. (I don't believe it needs setting up other setting the hull offset - I believe other causes for misreadings is electrical interference from electric circuits, they really like to be some distance from such.. Good luck..

Smoggy
Also if moored beside someone with a depth sounder of the same frequency you can get bad readings as it picks up their ping, nasa uses 150khz transducers.
