It was taken at Gayes Staithe. There were several darting about, but catching one in flight without specialist gear set up would be extremely difficult. This one perched on the branch, preening for three or four minutes, but he/she was quite a distance away. I was using my long telephoto zoom lens with a 1.4x teleconverter, making the focal length in excess of 800mm (for 35mm equivalent). Even then, it was a speck in the middle of the frame.
