Hi all,

worth a try asking

im after a Brig F300 or 330

or an Avon sea sport 310/330 DL

preferably a full outfit and a 20hp motor in excellent condition 

someone just might have just the thing sitting in their garage

needs a bit of work but it was good value

cheap enough to allow me to buy a brand new trailer for it and a brand spanking motor

There was no trailer with the boat,so I bought a new one from the selling marina in lymington so I could get it home

Here’s a question,

why are used outboard motors so expensive?

a brand spanker is often only a few hundred quid more than what folk are asking for something 10 years old,with unknown history.

7 years warranty on a new one!

Same as above with regard to trailers,

Yet an outboard or trailer with the boat doesn't increase the boats value by the same amount.

Hmmm, not so sure,

for the money being asked for a complete “nice” 10 plus year old package,

I’ve got this boat,a brand new trailer,budget for a brand new tohatsu 20,

and I’ll have cash left over

Looks really nice, but does it actually need 20 horses to push it along?

I suppose it depends on where you're going to use it.

It’s rated to a maximum of 40hp,

a 10 would probably be more than adequate for river use,but I figured with a 20 on it ,I could use it on lakes and sea if the opportunity arose.

and on the 100ft there is a 15mph limit so I could run it on the plane there which would be fun.

Added  to that,if I decide to sell it,I recon a 10 would reduce its buyer potential

Let’s see if a 40 turns up at the right price.

I’ve an eye on a 30 hp Honda motor but it’s right down in South Wales.

Try to stick to the small outboards that have fuel injection. Over many years, any problems I have had, nearly all have been carburation. The worst being on my Honda 20 PowerThrust and float needles. Small Honda plastic/alloy flywheels are known for failure.

My money would alway go to Yamaha, Mariner/Mercury or Tohatsu.

Nearly there

ive installed a new “fixed” transom,

new motor,controls,steering gear and electrics.

had all the upholstery renewed as well.

That's looking good, it should fly with 20hp on the back.
