Nearly forgot the Mother in Laws birthday, so a quick trip into the workshop and an hour or two on the lathe and my status as best son in law was preserved. :angel:

 

Amazing what you can do with a branch of Alder and a log off the woodpile.

You seriously made them??? If so then very good .. Perhaps if near the tourist routes you should do one of the little outdoor stalls with an honesty box.. they are brilliant up there and we got a few gifts for people back home! cheers

I have been a keen wood turner for best part of 20 years. A friend was a very good cabinet maker and boat builder, I have always enjoyed wood but never had the patience to make furniture or anything over a long period. So he suggested turning, I got a lathe and loved it, you can spend a hour or two and produce either a bowl or similar or at worst a satisfying pile of shavings. I usually do stuff as gifts or commissions for people mainly in the winter after the boating season. I do bigger stuff to....
