If you are spraying you should use a course spray, not a fine spray.  On fine you will have a lot of drift in any breeze, this will etch anyone aluminium nearby.

On the cleaning topic, I've brought home our 14 tired looking fenders... any suggestions on how to get them back into reasonable condition, please?

We found using Magic Sponges brought our fenders looking like new other than the usual scratches.

With Alan on the fenders, Magic sponges and Fairy Power Spray, even better if you can find it is Elbow Grease £1.00 a bottle from The Factory Shop in Stalham, this stuff really is a wonder cleaner, I use it everywhere on my boat on anything from the fenders to the Stainless on the cooker,,, also used it to clean my GRP hull and topsides, did a better job than all the pro products I tried,
