  1. What's right with them Looking down them on the way to and fro Fosdyke, Sutton etc look that unappealing it could put a man off boating for life :-D Unless with your local knowledge you know of any pearls
  2. OK if you like proper 'ditch crawling' but not for me
  3. Your sources again Brian? Not a journalist in previous life were you
  4. Good to hear they are keeping to their usual standards
  5. Make sure you get your tide times right when entering Wells or you may face this scene Sand Yacht anyone
  6. A few aerial shots of Southwold entrance slides 48-54 http://www.eastcoastrivers.com/gallery8.html
  7. The floating Pontoons at Wells have been extended to allow a few more boats. General info on Wells Approaches etc here: http://www.wellsharbour.co.uk/getin.htm
  8. You can buy a tape that sticks/attaches to the cut end Simon. Go have a look at that Chandelers in disguise B&Q
  9. I wasn't suggesting you should Jonny. It sounds as if your Father is 'handy' so perhaps sweet talk him into giving you a hand.
  10. I do but it is a "GP" manufacturer in Brundall I had it 'made' when they fitted the VHF, Anemometer etc and basically 'threw' it in for nothing due to the work I was having done. No idea how they will compare with anywhere else.
  11. Pay attention at the back Even if they don't Jonny at 'normal' price it won't be a lot of money
  12. Back to the original question Jonny.... I believe if you or father are 'handy' you could make a smart dash from plywood and cover with headlining (Jecklls sometimes have off cuts). If you look at the second picture of Kiki's helm the 'box' housing VHF & Anemometer is just that ply covered with headlining viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1948&start=0 Some bargain dials or re use existing and bingo new smart dash for not too much money.
  13. Ian, Very nice. I know you were quite taken with the one that resided in Reedham for a while. It will make a very nice boat for the next purchaser you certainly have her in tip top condition. We remarked last week what a tidy ship she is. It OK having plenty of speed on hand but apart from the occasional blast on Breydon you can't often use it and at sea unless conditions are very good it can be displacement speed anyway. Best of luck with your potential new purchase.
  14. Best laid plans and all that......... Sorry to hear that Ian. So what are you hanging your nose over Ian, and after all the work you and father have put in on White Lady - how could you
  15. Beer has a wonderful problem solving capacity Glad you have resolved it Ian, perhaps your earache will cure itself now
  16. Sorry to hear your discovery Ian, lets hope it is not serious. Can vouch for your fathers efforts he was hard at it each time we went passed. Fingers crossed
  17. Pete if you had seen Kiki 'rigged' for the Northern Broads you would know I could probably supply Fenders to them
  18. Thanks all for the advice and information. I had not seen Mowjo, Ian's or Pete's reply's until this morning but had found last night the one Pete mentioned and ordered some from there. Excellent selection at a very competitive price. Thanks again
  19. A supplementary What diameter would you recommend for a 32ft craft weighing 7 Tonnes.
  20. It was Blue and the chap on the said craft said "the knots just slipped" I think it was on a North Sea Trawler in its previous life
  21. As spring is almost upon us it is time to treat Kiki to some new mooring warps. The old ones are over two years old and showing signs of scuff and wear. Although warps might seem a last thought for renewal they are the only thing that keep our pride and joy safely secured. I hate to think of the cost of damage to my and other people ships if the string failed. A 'happeth of tar' springs to mind. Anyway onto the question. What material do the panel recommend, Nylon, Polyester or one of the other options, Views sought and appreciated
  22. I can't speak for your engines Simon, But my father in law has been around Trucks and engines (including Volvo's) for most of his working life being a fleet manager for a major logistics company, now retired. He swears by Synthetic Oil. Do you know what year your engines were built (roughly) and I will seek an opinion
  23. Thanks Danny. This one works quite well, it is a free download. You can process up to 5 images at a time. http://www.easephoto.com/ This site will allow a maximum image size of 600 x 800 pixels. So just select the photo you want and tap in this size and re size, then save the file for posting. You will find that some photo's you have are not in 'pro' due to editing or cropping and may have to tap in a lower pixel count on the first dimension to ensure the second does not exceed 800 pixel. I am sure that is a clear as mud :-D
  24. Sue just a few snaps to keep the pictures ticking over, in fact something has given them a strange cast when compressed to fit the size the site can accept. There are eminently better photo's posted than these.
