  1. I went to a Belgian bier festival, in Falkirk many years ago, at a pub called Behind the Wall. While some were quite flowery in taste, many packed quite a punch! Iain
  2. Wells is a lovely place, John. Should imagine Cheddar Gorge would be a bit on the chilly side just now! Iain

  10. Nope Robin, we were just pootling along as you do, when flash harry zoomed by very close to our craft, are we suppose to use a crystal ball to see when they will be on the river? The warning board does not give specific times I dont think, just a note to say its a skiing area. Are we suppose to wait to brew up to suit skiers ? I think not It was in the afternoon on a Saturday many years ago before you were born, laddie. Iain
  11. Sorry Alan, cannot agree, my dear Mum was nearlly scalded by a passing skier and boat. The Broads rivers were never meant IMHO for such craft. The Med is the place for them. Iain.
  12. I must confess, I have used my finest Anglo Saxon to a passing Water Ski boat!!!!!! in the past. Talk about the rocky road/river up to Norwich or St Olaves. Iain
  13. Just checked in Events, yup, not a lot on the Broads area, bar Salhouse Rail Station car park! Iain
  14. Just seen this on the news! I wonder what all the Norfolk Councils will do now? http://www.cleanforthequeen.co.uk/home/2365 Iain
  15. Worth a look at.... http://www.spbrewery.co.uk/
  16. Agreed, having sampled ALL kinds of weather on the Broads at Easter. Although my comment was tongue in cheek, we have shovled SNOW off the boat on Easter Good Friday outside the Ferry Inn at Horning, and seen a Snowman cruising by on top of a Carribean Major the family must have put together from the snow on the roof! Easter is early this year, so lets hope its not too cold, and you don't hear engines running at silly O'clock. Well we can dream! Iain.
  17. MM????Have you found that BEER you were looking for!
  18. MM keep a watch out for Caledonian 80/- ale its I think 4.1% and possibly to your taste. Its even not bad in a can! Iain
  19. I don't remember seeing a GIN DISTILLERY in Brundall? A cottage industry in the making, perhaps! Iain
  20. Good point, Doug, now I may be wrong here, it does happen, but, in the 70's once out past Wroxham and then Wroxham Broad, was it not 7mph? Till the 5mph as you entered Horning. Did the slower speeds not come into force when a certain Authority took over? This was to protect the river banks from boat wash. It certainly was after Stracey's Arms full speed ahead to GY.in the 70's Iain
  21. I don't see why, you shouldn't suffer Skipper, the same as we did! I think my final word on the subject covers all. A lot of padding not a lot of subject matter IMHO. Iain
  22. Prepare for a threatening letter from Calor Gas! Robin
