  1. Well sister in law usually brings me some from Dalry The offshore ones I guess were Aberdeen sourced Both were delicious Now the topped Haggis pies thats sounds like something I would like to try Ray & Carole
  2. Iain I spent some time on a scottish catered off shore installation last year Sunday lunch was carvery with choice of: Beef Pork Turkey Scotch pies Dont quite know how that works but I hate to admit I do like proper scotch pies not the scabby tesco ones Perhaps I can persuade the haggis butcher to try making some Norfolk versions Ray & Carole
  3. Well having received no likes or comments on my post about Norfolk haggis I can only conclude that our members from north of the border are waiting with baited breath to try this Norfolk delicacy on their next visit. A little history on the breed The Norfolk Haggi were specially bred to graze on the north norfolk salt marshes these being flat they have four legs of equal length unlike their northern brothers who have short legs on one side and long on the other to enable them to negotiate the hills and mountains. This and the fact that they graze on the lush samphire when in season gives them a much more BALANCED flavour than the northern version and are an ideal accompaniment to your bacon, sausage, eggs, mushies, fried bread and tomatoes at brekker (lorne sausage anyone) washed down with a large mug of tea. Ray Carole not getting involved as it was her brothers wife who gave us the tinned stuff
  4. Oh no tinned haggis Given one by my scots sister in law, made a barely acceptable shepherds pie Cant beat the real thing im afraid http://www.rutland-butchers.co.uk/haggis.php Norfolk haggis Ray & Carole

  7. Evening all The cabin top mast for our Freeman 24 is missing I can get one from Sheridan Marine for £299 + delivery Anyone on here can make me one up at a more reasonable price ? Would be pleased to hear from you http://www.sheridanmarine.com/product/freeman-24-27-33-mahogany-mast Ray & Carole
  8. As I read the HSE guidelines although there is technically no limit to the number of cans its up to the individual garage to do a risk assessment and set their own limits, it appears to be that 2 cans is the generally accepted limit, but it is not the law. But the law limits the maximum you can keep at home to 30 litres and I am sure your home insurance would be invalidated if you had more and had a claim Ray & Carole
  9. Yes having read through a lot of the HSE blurb seems the maximum you can store in cans is 30 litres. Max amount in one can is 20 litres. Also if you read the PDF on portable petrol containers the design and labelling are quite stringent, however I guess the average garage wont be bothering tomcheck that Ray & Carole
  10. Interesting read seems the regulations have recently changed this is just a small portion full regs can be found at http://www.hse.gov.uk/fireandexplosion/owner-petrol-station.htm#containers-filled What containers can be filled at a petrol station? Only ‘suitable portable containers’ can be filled with petrol ie: plastic containers up to 10 litres; metal containers up to 20 litres; and a demountable fuel tank. Suitable portable containers are defined in Schedule 2 (para 6) and Schedule 3 of the regulations. UN approved containers are an example of such containers. More detailed information on portable petrol storage containers PDF is available. How many containers can be filled at a petrol station? The regulations do not specify the number of suitable portable containers that can be filled at a petrol filling station. This should be considered as part of the risk assessment for the site. Section 8 of the guidance document on ‘Petrol filling stations guidance on managing the risks of fire and explosion (the Red Guide) link to external website' provides further information. 11. I know should have been 15 litres in 3 cans That G&T must have been strong Ray & Carole Hic
  12. Well since we picked up Tangara ll we have been slowly filling up the 15 gallon tank with petrol. Went into a well known supermarket garage today to fill up the wifes Jimbo and my 3 x 5 litre approved cans for the next jaunt to Brundall. (I am fully aware the law says you are only allowed to fill 2 cans but have never had an issue with the 3) Cans and car filled went to pay, lady behind the desk got the a***se saying I was only allowed to fill 2 cans At a time, OK fair cop gov. But why didnt you shout at me over the PA as you obviously saw what I was doing, no comment. Then I suggested that I didnt want to get them into trouble with the law so perhaps they shouldnt charge me for the 3rd can, no its all on one transaction so I cant do that. So then enquired If I came in with 2 x 25 litre jerry cans would that be OK, yes no problem she says. Mmm so 50 litres of petrol in 2 cans in the back is OK but 3 litres in 3 cans is not, having worked in the oil industry since leaving school in 1971 just a little bemused, I certainly have full respect for carrying petrol in cans and appreciate the hazards. Any way next project Fill Jimbo and 2 x 5 litre cans - pay And then go back and get 2 more 5 litre cans out of the back fill and pay separately How do I stand with the law then Ah well time for a G&T Ray & Carole

  14. Good evening all Tangara ll has cockpit deck fitted with a browny grey treadmaster, this seems in good condition so dont really want to remove but is looking dull and dowdy. Can anyone advise the effectiveness of their treadmaster cleaner and also the treadmaster paint so we could maybe brighten it up a bit Ray and Carole
  15. And they want to re-introduce the lynx in Norfolk
  16. Well thats good news just asking David at Bells yesterday where you were and he said som exotic cruise Hope to see you down soon we are now On Freeman 24 Tangara ll next to Gymnopedies (up for sale ) Tangara ll is currently like a bombsite with all the mods but hopefully we will be up and running soon Ray and Carole
  17. We had a Glomex on a previous boat, this worked fine on open moorings but in the marina it picked up reflected signals from buildings, cranes etc and gave a very poor picture with multiple ghosting.
  18. The 2 girls together Ray & Carole
  19. Well where do we start, we bought Gymnopedies in 2013, then spent most of 2014 upgrading ready for a good sailing year in 2015. Unfortunately after we came back from our Caribbean bucket list holiday in December Carole went down with severe colitis and was hospitalised for 2 weeks in January. Due to mobilty problems after this we realised that sailing on Gymnopedies would be a non starter, so started looking around for a suitable stinkie, having had various sports cruisers and a Broom 37 previously we had a good idea what was required but as semi retired a Broom was out of the question. We have now aquired a Freeman 24 "Tangara ll" which seemed to suit our requirements and accessibilty issues and are busily up grading it to our requirements ref shore power etc We are still in Bells at Brundall so if you see us please pop in and say hello at the moment no booze on board but we can do a coffee, hope to be out in a couple of weeks with fridge fully operational and beer chilled so if you see us about give us a wave or come aboard for a (hopefully) cold beer Wevwill have Forum burgee on shortly
