    Boat market

I'm not so sure about the 'pinch of salt' bit to be honest David. Journalists, whatever the trade love to spread bad news - so this must be seen as a positive. Obviously there are different types of boat buyer, but those with some money in the bank, or even need to borrow to buy - at the current interest rates (whether savings or borrowing) make sense to purchase now. Money in the bank is not earning, and some of the deals available on finance are the lowest they've been for many a year. Of course the restrictions on borrowing have become harder, but it is available.... It would be interesting to see a ratio of second hand boats to new boats and how the two have fluctuated over the last three or four years. I would presume both sectors flattened, then second hand boats have moved up a few notches over the last six months or so. New boats - I wouldn't like to hazard a guess but according to the manufacturers it does seem positive - but as you say, this is the bit I would take with a pinch of salt. End of year accounts will be interesting !!

    Boat market

From the people that I have talked to, around here and away, the second hand market is very buoyant at the moment Barry - lots seem to be selling !! New ones too !!
  8. Depending on your dates Wayne, and when we have James that week, we could pop along too !
  9. Hi Wayne We use Musto MPX3 Performance when out in the salty stuff - a little too bulky for drinks in the pub though !
  10. This is so individual Gav. I was with Col on Sunday and we looked at the three 42ft'ers together, one after the other without anything inbetween. Out of the three, and this might be a little bit of a shock to some, I would undoubtedly have the Fairline over the Princess and Sealine - Col, as hes said above would have the Princess. I thought the layout, build and finish quality was vastly supreme on the Fairline. I'm still not a fan of the slab Sealine design, but as I've said many times before, maybe in time I will change my mind - just as the masses did after Sealine introduced their market change years ago. On older boats, as you would guess, I am Sealine through and through. They fit a 38ft boat into a 34ft shell and when I purchased Job Done, I couldn't find another boat that fitted my requirement for the money anyway near. The Birchwood you are looking at is lovely of course, certainly a lot of boat for the money, but as I've said - the choice is very individual and I would opt for the S34 instead. However, from what I have gained from our many conversations regarding this I understand why your first choice is the Birchwoo ! BTW I was talking to Guy (EBY's) on Saturday at the BS and he said that they have to do some work on the S34 prior to sale. Didn't get much more info out of him though..
  11. Just had a text from Wayne to say that the journey has been delayed for 24 hours...
  12. Glad you're all home safe and sound guys !! As long as the winds keep down, we'll be popping through today, so will give you a shout...
  13. Grant - you should be very proud of yourself with Destiny !! I saw that craft the weekend you bought it and I also know how much time and effort let alone money you have spent getting her to the glorious shape she is in now. I have alwasy had a soft spot for Falcons as you know, and yours is superb ! Well done, and glad you enjoyed your trip ! Luke
  14. We had these on Relentless Steve. The "F" is the live feed which must be put on a fused feed from the battery with a manual switch. The "S" is the self park feed which we never used. I've done a little digging and found the sheet that comes with them from the factory (well, it is exactly the same as what was in our box when I replaced one) and it is here:- http://webserver.flak.no/vbilder/09212.pdf By opening up the unit you can change the angle of sweep to fit your window.
  15. Diesel is available opposite Beccles Yacht Station at Derby Quay - £1 per litre when I filled up this afternoon...

  20. Don't worry Wayne, you won't be the only one sinking !!! We have absolutely no intention of getting to the end !!!
  21. LOL @ Gav.. Congratulations w44nty ! We keep thinking about getting a dog, but as we are away a fair bit it seems a bit unfair. "Charley" seems very popular at the moment, and if we were to get one, that's what we have already decided to name him/her ! Good luck with the 'potty' training - that's one bit that puts me off !! lol !!
  22. Can't wait to do this trip Paul !! Shotly sounds lovely !!
