  1. But then the checklist will get shorter...
  2. Hi all I am going to move my pre-filters to a more accessible location so that has given me the opportunity to think about sea safety. I have two choices - I can run a share pipe between outlets of the two so if one blocks I can simply open a valve to let both engines run off one filter, or for the little additional cost I can install two pre-filters per engine with valves to select which one I want to use. I am erring towards the twin filter set up but as explained to me before can see the benefits in a simple share pipe. I would be interested to know how others have filters set up for the "just in case" situation. rgds Wayne
  3. Well the boats r still in the water ... Denmark at Christmas time would be nice Barry
  4. Hiya We're up for a return trip - can we book two weeks of glorious sunshine this time though please. rgds Wayne
  5. Don't forget about the front room Barry - that was nice too
  6. Hi all I recently got invited out for a boys weekend organised by Jonathan (Mariotech). So I went along with him as well as Ian (Clanny) and Barry (Osprey). You should have seen the shock on Barry's face when he saw the fishing rods and realised that we were ACTUALLY going fishing and it was not just an excuse for the boys to get out and play. Anyway - we had some great laughs, a few beers and good fishing. There seem to be quite a few who were doubting we would catch anything so here's the proof
  7. Hiya Thats what I did on my first boat last year Problem is this one only has a strainer right next to the sea cock and obvioulsy when I pour water in it wont go uphill I have thought about making a threaded adaptor to go on the end on the strainer to which I can attach a hose to a large container with a tap on. I can then put the container higher than the engine and hopefully fill it that way. Or cut in a valve somewhere at the top of the engine. Either way I am now concerend about the previous comments re; getting A/F into the manifolds etc as the engine would not be running best regards Wayne
  8. Hi Mark - I have been thinking of putting a vetus type stainer in the line after the impellor . This was just in case I ever have an impellor break I wont be worried about bits of rubber in the engine. This would also allow me a "high" point into which I can pour some af. BTW what power are your heaters? At 4 ft they are getting on twice as long as mine - 80 w each. Mind you the engine bay is quite well insulated. rgds Wayne
  9. Hi John I did think about doing that. I can get to the strainer which is attached to the sea cock. I can shut the sea cock and pour in A.F while the engine is running but I am a bit of a scaredy cat with the possiblity of running the impellor dry. - Maybe I'll be brave and give it a go. Thanks Wayne
  10. Hi Rob We are doing a bit of both this year. I have also been up the marina this weekend fitting tube heaters. Being a tight sod I have them on stats so I dont pay for any more leccy than I have to I have also put the dehumidifer on board. My only worry is that because of the design of my raw water system I cant get into it to pour some anti-freeze in - but with the heaters that should be ok. Having said that the heaters are only any good if the leccy is on and has not tripped for some reason. In the new year she will come ashore for two to three months for some TLC. rgds Wayne
  11. I did sugeest to Tracy and Maggot that perhaps they would like to stand at ease as per the sea scouts when we come into port ...you can guess how that went
  12. Great picures - sorry we dont have any to offer - Maggot forgot her camera - I'll put it on the checklist. A great weekend in fantasic company. Wayne, Tracy and Maggot
  13. Hi Ian We think we are running back tomorrow as that seems the best window at the moment. The certain engine performed well, although still running in so speed was kept down. That did not stop Barry and I doing some speed runs for photography purposes I am very pleased how Katy handled although we really do have to change the name - I have not once been able to get it understood on VHF - I think I am named "station calling"
  14. We'll we've made it to Sunny Southwold We held up in Hamiton (CrackerJack, Osprey and us) last night waiting for a weather window, spending the evening in the Red Rose Indian just a short walk from the marina. This morning at 9.00 the boys took a walk up to view the sea state. The wind had lightened and the sea look nice and flat.Decision was taken to go and ETD of 11:30 was set. Maybe we should have had another look before we set off as out of the harbour we were met with a fair swell. The boats were handling it well so we pushed on. However the ladies were less than pleased and the boys were now in big trouble ) As we got out of the Stanford channel the sea settled down and the rest of the run was not too bad. As we arrived at Southwold we were met by a nice hailstorm and Gav and crew who had come out of Great Yarmouth Now I have to get on the tinternet to book a nice meal for this evening to fully restore marital harmony
  15. And the gutting thing is this was the sea off Gorleston today - an hour before low tide.

    Tolls

Yes many thanks - confirmed what I had found out 55% increase though - I understand the need to generate income to improve the area and facilities but then how can the policy regarding tolls set back in 2005 still be current with that sort of increase.

    Tolls

Out of interest I have found out: In 2005 the toll for a 22mtr2 motor boat was £138.00. In 2010 the same toll is £214.00 A rise of 55% in 5 years ! Not bad eh? Wayne

    Tolls

Hiya all Can anyone tell me if they had a boat in 2005 what were the tolls that year and what block area did that relate to. I am interested to find out what percentage increase there has been since then. It has to be 2005 as that is the last time the policy was reviewed. Many thanks Wayne
  21. Hey Gav Just love that second picture down - (maybe I'm just odd). Wayne
  22. A man of many talents Dave - Brilliant picture
  23. Just got back from Golreston beach - some weather like today will do: Yesterday - white horses on the river - today sea flat as a witches...
  24. Hiya all Anyone fancy a run out to sea over the half term holiday? I am not sure how likely it is that the weather would be favorable this time of year, maybe one of the experianced members could comment. Not fussed where we go, a short hop to Southwold or maybe a bit further to Shotley or Ipswich, just would like to try the new girl so any jobs that are revealed can get done over the winter. For us it would have to be the first part of the hols as we have commitments in the latter part of the week. As a reminder half term is w/c 25th October (around this area anyway) rgds Wayne
