  1. Thanks for that, I kinda guessed it was in that area.
  2. I've followed them on fb for sometime now, They have a very good reputation indeed. I enjoy reading there winter maintenance post. I'm always amazed at how much damage these boats pick up during a season and just how quickly they are repaired. I see on the yards website that they offer private moorings at bradsgate, no idea where that is but I assume it's Stalham way. I also didn't realise they offer dayboats for hire. Someone at the yard is becoming a very good drone pilot. Some good short areial vids on fb of the yard and surrounding area. Decent first attempt at a website.
  3. She's a lovely looking boat, must be hard to give her up. Best of luck with the sale.
  4. I'm with you Simon I totally agree, I don't like a lot of what len has had designed in house. That said I do like the silent emblem type of boat. They offer great accommodation for a couple, small family. I also think the ones built while len was owner at ferry were completed to a much higher standard. I've seen his new boat/mould for NBD sitting on the car park at Wroxham is going to be a cracker.
  5. You lucky man, wine seems to have the opposite effect on my wife sadly. She could talk the legs of a table after a few wines hence the music. My daughter tells me it's against my wife's human rights to gag her. So a dinghy and 40ft of rope is the only other reasonable solution I could think of.
  6. I don't see a problem drinking a few beers. I don't drink wine or any form of spirit's can't stand the stuff..I honed my beer drinking skills in the British Army and seem to have hollow legs lol. The problem nowadays is its just not alcohol that's being consumed. Personally can't think of anything better then plodding along the river in the sunshine cold beer the wife with a glass of wine and a bit of background music absolutely Perfect.
  7. Funny thing is I don't remember a great deal more moorings back then, but I do remember 3 times as many boats. I also think nowhere near as many boats travel.south these days. Everyone heads to Roy's etc ( why would you go on holiday to walk round a supermarket !!! Beyond me ) There seems to be a fear of crossing breydon and many more ppl are on short break so there just isn't time to go south. Covid is obviously having an impact on ppl thinking and being close to ppl they don't know. But it's sure looking like a mad summer up north...
  8. You don't see nowhere near as many boats double or even terrible moored outside pubs nowadays. I remember back in the 70s and 80s is was common practice. Even the yacht Stations Yarmouth and Norwich, marine quays would all be the same. We sat outside the ferry inn Horning a couple of weeks ago and part of there moorings are for day boats. So a difficult situation just gets worse. Ferry marina had loads of there boats moored on the opposite bank to the yard. I hadn't realised the fleet had grown that much since len departed. They also still had the aft cockpit boat sitting on the car park all wrapped in plastic. Not sure if that's another addition to the fleet. The mooring situation in the North must be quite frustrating for ppl new to boating. The booking agencies make a big thing out of being able to pull up outside a pub grab a drink or something to eat in reality it's not quite that simple. You have to book weeks in advance at some riverside pubs, restaurants. Maybe old gus at the ferry should rack em and stack em... how longs he been there ? Obviously not at the new Inn anymore.
  9. Not sure which one of the 32s it is but it's got a build date of 2013 on nya website. They probably mean new to the fleet I'm guessing. Three very nice boats though. I'm very tempted to hire one for next year.
  10. I saw a video today of the improvements they have made to the Hemsby holiday park. That's some very serious investment going on there. Maybe a change of direction again and boat building has come to an end for now. Is it cheaper to buy in good nearly new boats built by someone else then go through the whole development build process. It's been said before but how much do yards really make out of these old classes of boats. Maybe a smaller fleet but better quality of boat is the way forward.
  11. Absolutely spot on there David, I showed my wife the new richo boats last night, she loves the haines boat. Sadly I don't love her snoring enough to make it a viable option 😪 I looked again this morning and was amazed at how many booking appear to have come in overnight for both boats.
  12. Richardsons website, now has the two new boats listed with interior and exterior images. Both boats are listed as new for 2021. Two very smart looking boats.
  13. That's really interesting, I know very little about boat designs, I've always assumed most broads cruisers were built for inland waterways only and you couldn't take them to sea. Don't think I'd fancy crossing the Channel or Irish sea in one. I struggle on the big car ferries with sea sickness.
  14. I don't think it's naive at all, it's exactly what is happening. It's a very strong market at the moment. Yards like barnes could turn around a boat very quickly and put into the fleet with the workforce they have. It may even work out the boat let's really well and is kept on for next season. Who would of thought they'd of kept the old dual steer Alphacraft boats in the fleet for so long.
  15. That's not very good is it David, quite misleading. I notice they have taken a booking on the viking already this morning. Hopefully it will be rectified quickly. Two very nice additions to richardsons fleet. I wonder what has happened to the new sedan mould that was produced. Put on the back burner I guess.
  16. I'm sure Paul said they both came back to the broads, didn't they replace the one Clive has now got with a newer model. Built by haines I think.
  17. I remember seeing Paul's photos of her leaving Datchet, definitely a nice boat Clive. Coffin beds on boats are a nightmare in my opinion. Did you design suncharms interior, because for me the rear cabin and bed is spot on. Trying to please everyone, don't be daft lol...
  18. Exactly, good bit of business me thinks. I done a quick check on hoseason website and there is virtually no availability for boats across all waterways this summer. It's been said on TV this morning that after just a few weeks of allowing tourists from the UK back in,Portugal may be put back on the government's red list. Overseas travel is such a changing and fluid situation, you really are taking a gamble when booking. There is still 20 weeks left of this season, you could raise the titanic and probably let that for 15 odd weeks after you'd tidy it up a bit 😉
  19. I would imagine they were going cheap if they are in poor condition. I'm sure they will go through the shed before they are let. They could get 14 16 weeks hire out of them, then sell them on over the winter. At 1400 odd quid a week, could be a bit of shrewd business.Look at the state their ex Alphacraft boats were in when they brought them. Can't see either boats being long term fleet additions though.
  20. Hippersons were also that side of the bridge back in them days. The last time I remember us using poolcraft was the year they built a bounty 37 can't remember it's name tho. Good memories indeed
  21. My father's favourite yard, many happy holidays on kingsway back in the 70,Medway, Queenseay were two of their other boats we hired. I believe I'm right in saying they closed the hire fleet down and went into something to do with electrical motors. Really nice friendly yard.
  22. It sure doesn't look as bad as the bright orange ones on some of royalls old hire boats 😯 nice looking boat Clive. I'm guessing alpha done the original fit out as they used that circular shape galley entrance on some of there hire fleet.
  23. I'm surprised Clive didn't say more, I'm sure he will correct me if I'm wrong. Far horizon has let incredible well since she was launched. I can't remember the name of the big tall flybridge boat richardsons brought back to the broads from their Thames fleet. That let very well from acle as well. Canny bit of business by barnes, if priced keenly I'm sure that will fly.
  24. The simple methods are normally the best, but a group on a boozy weekend may forget to.
