  1. Hi Alan, good idea but CC idea of disabling the start motor seem pretty fail safe. 👍
  2. That's an excellent idea, I've no idea of the cost of repairing a hole in the superstructure or deck would be,but I'm sure in runs onto many hundreds of pounds.
  3. I was watching Herbert Woods webcam yesterday when I noticed one of their big boats leaving the Quay. Unfortunately he was still connected to the electric Post. I watched as the lead stretched out and finally broke away from the boat and fell into the water. I was wondering if the couplings are designed to break apart easily and I'm assuming there must be a circuit breaker on the post to cut supply when this happens. I could imagine this kind of event could cause considerable damage to the boat or post. Is this a common problem on hire craft ?? Are they not fitted with some kind of warning system to alert the helm they are still hooked up.
  4. So you are saying an experienced crew moored their boat in a position knowing it would potentially collied with your boat..wow that's one big assumption, that said I would of still pointed out to them their mistake. You don't need eye contact to make your point vocally.
  5. I'm sure it wasn't done on purpose, inexperienced crew etc etc. You obviously saw them come in, I'd of pointed out to them they were to close and why before they dropped their mudweight. Always good to offer a helping hand.
  6. Good to see the fleet growing Clive, saw swiftway and tideway last week out on the rivers looked very smart. How's the development going on the new boat.

Thanks Alan I didn't know that. The only time I've had need of a diver was when our prop fell off passing through Horning.it was the guy from Loddon who came out to us. A couple of trips back to Stalham for his wife they finally found the right prop to fit...we were rather late getting the boat back for hand over lol..

I think your given an arrival time slot and they ask you don't arrive early. I know haven's have adopted the same and won't allow you on site early.

So I guess the boat will have to be towed up to ferry marina or Clive yard to be lifted out to free the rope. I still don't know why divers aren't used anymore ??
  10. Spent a couple of nights at the Nelson premier inn Norwich last week. The hotel was full, the Swan at Horning and Wroxham hotel were both fully booked for our dates. Visiting my sister next month three nights at the premier inn in Skegness 370 quid ouch. The industry will bounce back, we spoke to a few ppl at the hotel last week, ppl are still nervous about covid, things will change..
  11. Just back from a 3 day land based visit to the broads. We stayed at the Nelson in Norwich. We got about a fair bit visiting Wroxham, Horning, Ac,Potter etc etc. We were both very impressed with covid procedures in all the pubs, cafes restaurants We visited. Every venue insisted on everyone using their track and trace app or locator forums were handed out. We witnessed one guy get a bit funny when ask to do so and he was told if he didn't he would have to leave absolutely spot on in my opinion. The staff at all venues We drank or ate at were simply fantastic and it was clear to see they were so glad to be open again. The rivers were no where as busy as I thought they would be with plenty of boats sitting in yards. I heard Clives name mentioned in the ferry inn Horning but realised I don't actually know what you look like Clive and your clearly not Alan partridge lol.. saw NBD new set of moulds sitting on their car park waiting to go into the shed, that's one big new boat. Wroxham hotel oh dear, how they get away with charging 9 quid for a cheese sandwich is beyond me, them are london prices lol. A very enjoyable few days so good to see everything coming back to life. The new gazebos at the ferry get the thumbs up from us and should stay.
  12. No they have an automatic change over fitting. I've run out of gas before and the yard has brought new one bottles out. But I've never had to change from one bottle to another.
  13. Don't gas bottle's automatically change over when one has run out ?? All the boats I've hired recently certainly have had this function fitted. Or was it a case of both bottle's being empty. I thought hire yards fitted this system to stop customer mucking about with the gas supply.
  14. We use to see groups of sea cadets every Easter, 5 or 6 brooms boats in a row. I love them old wooden brooms craft. Come to think of it back in the late 70s early 80s there were always big groups of kids afloat.
  15. Thanks for the recommendation guys, I wasn't a fan of spicy foods myself untill I met my wife. Her mother was originally from Sri Lanka, the year after our wedding we visited her family in Sri Lanka and done a fair bit of travelling. My love of spicy food began. Indian food is by far my favourite..
  16. We will be staying in Norwich next week for a few days, could any of you lovely local members recommend a nice Indian restaurant in Norwich please. Many thanks in advance.
  17. Do Richardsons still keep a tug boat at Acle, or do bridgecraft cover that area now.
  18. I'm a fan of this design, suncharm from Richardsons was a cracking boat when it was new. They had problems with the heating system and it was taken out after a couple of years of service. The saloon never really got warm enough for some reason. I know the ex Swan boats are also good boats but my personal favourite was Royall Swan, loverly boat.
  19. If it was humber Bridge you were aboard then indeed the video is on there fb page. I'm sorry I don't know how to link the video. Never a grandchild around when you need one. Lol
  20. I follow bridgecraft on FB I'm really enjoying the drone footage they post to there page. Not sure who pilot's the drone but there flying skills improve all the time. Do they own the old anchor craft yard ? the old boat shed looks like it needs pulling down, is the old shed used or home to local wildlife. They seem to be a very busy yard with a popular fleet. Acle has never appealed to me as a start point, but I guess if you were planning on heading south it is ideal. They also hire day boats,I never knew that, not sure how popular day boats are from acle though. good to see them thriving
  21. I had the same as your daughter, mine was brought forward by 20 odd days.
  22. Everyone is given a card, which records vaccine type, batch number and date. It should also give you the date of your 2nd jab. That is certainly the case at my wife's hub and the hub I used for mine. I assume its the same at local surgeries. Sadly with such a huge undertaking as a national vacation programme there will always be a few that slip threw the net.
  23. The vaccination hub my wife is working at in basildon, are ahead of schedule. They have now be told the hub will remain open until late autumn, instead of the original July date they were first given. This is to cover the expected booster jabs that are now being announced by the NHS. But so far so good things have been going really well. They have had no supply issues to worry about. The hub team and local GP staff are really working well together and manage to fill gaps that appear from no shows etc. We seem to forget the huge roll local GP surgeries are playing in getting everyone to the hubs etc etc. We'll done team NHS. 👏
  24. That's huge, theirs a few quids worth of glass going into that. I still think it's a re work of the early big ferry dual steers len built. Are the moulds still being made up at Brundall? Personally I'm not a fan, but bet that's going to make one very nice hire boat, Mr funnel doesn't normally turn out cheap looking boats and although I don't like the look of them, all the others of this design have been fitted out to a very high standard. Can see this being very popular.
  25. The six of hearts location, is a ten minute drive from my home. I'd be more then happy to pop down and take a few photos if anyone would like me to. Be warned tho I'm no david Bailey 😉 but I'm sure I could capture the bad bits.
