  1. I don't disagree, but I think we've already seen what the great British public are willing to do and chances they are happy and are being allowed to take. I agree with the veiw we at least a good 8/12 months away from a return to travelling safely abroad. Yesterday we amended our dates a 3rd time for a trip we booked 2 years ago, so nearly 3 years would of past since we originally booked the trip. Quite daunting when you think about it.
  2. Holidays abroad will be up and running by late June/July they have to be or your see some very big names in the industry in deep deep dodo. Winter crusing has never been very popular that I remember. Yards are too busy cramming in their maintenance programmes.
  3. Go past it all the time,it sure is on a country lane. A much better day out is the epping Ongar railway. Not as hard to find as the bunker. 🤦‍♂️
  4. I would agree with this, my car has gain more bird poo then miles, these last two months..
  5. Would make a nice little residential mobile home park, weather there would be any money to be made after the investment was made is a different thing I guess. We have some nice residential parks in our area, they seem to be growing in popularity and not cheap to buy into.
  6. Great little boats the Hampton sedan model is very similar in appearance to my eye. Good memories for you.
  7. Both my wife and me have now had our 1st jabs, pfizer for us. My wife's was through work nhs nurse, I was surprised to be called, I received a txt inviting me to book an appointment. Tbf the txt msg I received looked very dodgy so I called my GP, I was wrong it was genuine. Had mine at the Wickford Community Centre, very well organised took 20 mins job done, no side affects for me apart from the usual sore arm, my wife was a different story quite poorly for a few days. She had covid back in June last year so no idea if that had any bearing on her bodies reaction to the vaccine. Kim will be working at a vaccination hub in basildon for a few weeks, all staff have been asked to carry their vaccination cards with them. If any vaccine is left over at the end of the day staff members will get their 2nd jabs instead of it being wasted. I have to say I'm very impressed by the vaccine roll out programme it somthing Boris has got right.
  8. Very much doubt that, 2022 prices are ridiculous. As in the past some will shoot themselves in the foot and boats will be laid up on their yards. But hey ho it's their money they are throwing away...
  9. £992 or £99 each for a weeks holiday is as cheap as chips. That said I was looking at their Hemsby site today for a trip in Sept with our grandchildren. Had to take a step back, yep definitely a hike in prices...
  10. Absolutely 100%. For us the pubs account for 25% of our holiday enjoyment. The older we get we find mud weighting in the likes of Ranworth Broad, cold glass of wine in hand watching the word go by to be pretty much perfect. Even better if it's a nice sunny warm evening 👌
  11. If the houses offer an upstairs balcony overlooking the river and marshes, I could see them fetch a fair price. The whole site is a mess and needs cleaning up and development can only be far more attractive option to what is already there.
  12. A five minute walk from my house, I miss having a coffee in the front bar. Great veiws of the Thames..
  13. Been on the cards for a while, the fleet wasn't the best. But a shame to see another yard go. Went past about 18 months ago and the yard looked a bit of a tip to be fair, not very inviting for arriving customers.
  14. We watched it the other week, our thoughts exactly...
  15. I was moored in HW yard one Monday evening, when they towed in a king of light that had been sunk at the entrance to the chet. It had been under water for a couple of days. Returning my boat on the Friday morning I was really surprised to see the same boat outside the shed all repaired, just awaiting the soft furnishings and new curtains. So I'm assuming very little of the water damaged wood was replaced, galley cabinets, bunk bases etc. Just couldn't believe they turned that around so quickly.

    Holidays

Worrying times indeed for all in the leisure and hospitality industry. I've personally got two holidays rolled over from last year. One in the UK and one abroad. We are quite confident our UK holiday to norfolk in Sept will go ahead but we are also due to travel in May to the Portuguese Island of porto santo. This I very much doubt will go ahead, Portugal are suffering another wave of covid infections and are way behind the uk in terms of vaccine roll out. Sadly we have decided to refund this holiday and will put on hold any further plans of overseas travel for at least a further 12 months. In our view the government got it wrong last year by opening up holidays both here and abroad and have realised this. My brother works in the Aviation industry for a big European tour operator they currently have all their 787 dreamliner aircraft deployed on transatlantic cargo flights for car manufacturers and some government charter flights, which is bringing in some well needed revenue, but his worried for his future as his company are losing huge sums of money each month. Luckily for him he works on the maintenance side of the operation so potentially will be in the last group to go if things do go peared shaped. I heard on the BBC news this morning government scientist's are recommending social distancing measures will need to left in place until the autumn.. Quite worrying if your a butlins type operation
  17. The only sailing trip I have ever been on was with sunsail. Our base was the harbour at Nydri on the island of Lefkada, stunning location. An Old WW2 Uboat pen you could swim into and the Onassis family tomb all located in the bay.
  18. Vaughan, I believe tui no longer own le boat, I'm sure they sold their travelopia business which included le boat back in 2017.
  19. One of the engineers from Stalham came out to us once, we were on a finesse that developed a gear box problem. He explain how you changed engines through the saloon roof. Seemed like hard work to me...lucky for him it was a simple gear linkage problem.

    Marina For Sale

Wonder if two brothers from Wroxham will buy it 😏
  21. Am I the only one who misses the detailed boat descriptions, engine type etc etc they use to print in the brochures. The first thing we done every year was to check out that seasons new boats, if we couldn't afford that years new offerings, it was plan b and look for boats that had been refitted. They use to make a big deal about boats that had under gone major refurbs back then not so much nowadays though.
  22. I remember these Simon, one in particular I remember had a torques superstructure with a white coach roof. I think it was called Triton, but that's not 100%.They seemed like a tubby version of clive dad's design. I'm sure Clive will know more!
  23. P&H use to have a large center cockpit boat with a clinker built hull back in the 80s, wasn't that called Caroline. I seem to remember it didn't have a white painted Hull I think it was a light green colour.
  24. Absolutely fantastic thread and most enjoyable to read and see golden light's progress, but I have to ask !!! Is golden light a bit like triggers broom...thanks again
  25. A truly sad day for our nation, a role model indeed and a reminder of what being British was once all about. Sadly this pandemic has shown us just how selfish a nation we are becoming. From one ex solider to another I salute you sir, sleep tight tom you stood your post RIP.
