  1. 7 weeks (ish) for us... gulp...
  2. Lol no Iain.. A nice dark shade of black! Like traditional Tar! Thanks Neil! There's still a few weeks left though and she will be going up unfinished (the money for the wheelhouse floor is going on transport!) so it will probably need more work when it's up there! in fact it will probably never finish as always lol But I know what you mean it's nice to there! I'm trying to get transport for 18th April and I'll keep posting all the way until then! (and then I'll do a ships (b)log ) and we will probably be up there for most bank holidays (but I think we will stay south whilst we run everything in)
  3. Thanks Brian, I'll have a google for them.. So more good news today , the leg works.. (Not that I doubted it wouldn't), The first mate (Dave - his new title) connected it to the engine using a thingy jig whatsit and when the engine goes now so does the leg.. good ey... So this does mean that we now have no excuse not to come to suffolk so I'll send some emails around! We will be looking at moving easter weekend or a week after. I'll let everyone know closer to the date so you can all line the route waving flags... I spent all do outside in the sun.. I masking taped up the new waterline, (Frog tape is brilliant), the sanded it back, then primed with two coats of fast drying primer, then ran down the chandlers and they did me a deal on Hemple classic (I wanted broads but strangely they don't stock that here?!).. I was going to just prime but as I taped it up and it was nice I thought sod it. So did three coats on the waterline (and one all round).. Removing the tape she looks really posh now with her black antifoul. Couple more pics from the first mates phone (It's worst than mine!).
  4. Hi Barry.. I'm really looking forward to seeing your boat up front .. I do have a huge appriecation for wooden boats (and their insane owners! . Hi Grace, Good question, everyone at the yacht club is asking us the same question so don't worry! The main reasons we are coming up by road is that it's a single engine so if we have any problems with this we would need to call for assistance and at sea it's better to be self dependant and moreso that its an as new engine and drive system, so it has a higher change of playing around, if its an older proved engine it maybe ok. We could cruise in company or put an outboard on but either of these would make for a slow passage if we needed them. So it's less stressful and more sensible to put it on a lorry If she was a sailing boat I wouldn't hesitate though! If we did do it, I think it's about 120 miles so at 8 knts it would take about 15 hours so you could do it in one day but somewhere you punch the tide so it would take more like 24hours, if we were to do it we would probably do it in three days and make a weekend of it (so Something like Rochester -> Burnham, harwich, lowestoft), we may have a play in the salty bit at some point she will be capable of it. I'll message you if we go out and you can come out.. unless you are chicken like my mum.. Alan, The insurance isn't a problem, I think my policy has 30 days sea passage a year on it anyway, you don't need flares these days because they are pointless (You only get two so you rely on someone seeing the first and then the second ).You should have a DSC VHF radio which sets all hell loose when you press the mayday button! SSR is only a requirement when going over the continent you don't need it for territorial waters, you only should fly the ensign so customs leave you alone! (and it helps to be registered with the coastguard on the cg66) I remember panicking once on my sailing boat leaving sheerness (which is where the coastguard office watches the thames).. forgetting my ensign.. thankfully when the rib came past we just waved and they left us alone!! Your syndicate should take RB out for a paddle she will love it.. pick a calm day and it can be lovely out there OK back to work.. I've been antifouling and the boat looks well posh now.. (Not hireboat blue or red either!)...
  5. Thanks Barry.. I'll drop them a message.. (Your boat looks amazing!!)
  6. Thanks Ian! I can't wait to get to the mooring and the first pub! I've got my sun glasses on now though as the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bright lol
  7. MM? Sisters washing machine? You sound such a thoughtful brother lol! Is there a Norfolk breeze flavour? if so I'd go with that Ropes in the washing machine was the bit tip i was ever told.. it really does work!
  8. Ok I've taken a paracetamol and had some food lol.. As you see from the pics this travel hoist is only a little bigger than the boat so to get it in we had to remove the acros around the wheel.. we had to do it three times so basically shore up the boat three times and that's just get her into the water.. it had to be repeated to get her back out again!! hence being exhausted! And as you see it's not as far back as it should be but thankfully it lifted the boat and all was good! Dave will get the leg tested tomorrow and if all well I can contact the haulage companies to get her moved to suffolk for easter.. Can't wait!! I'm going to get antifouling too! Pics below.. (I need a new camera phone )
  9. Thanks a lot guys, we can't explain how erm relieved we are..!! we really wasn't sure but as you can see (if you look closely) the boat is much higher out the water than we expected but thats an easy fix as it just needs so ballast (and our houseboat is over ballasted so perfect!!)... But Eric.. it's a deal if you want lol although I think you will quickly miss the warmth of the middle east!! Dave just needs to connect the leg up to the engine and we need to make sure it works so we should do that tomorrow, then I can start talking to haulage companies. I want it moved over easter though! (but we having a weekend up there in a couple of weeks to take a look around the marina) but I'm happy to wait for a return load and get a discount! I will drop Jon a call (although we need a Hiab lorry ) I'll put some more pictures up a bit later but I need to go rest as its all manual work; Hand winches and the hoist has to be de geared.. geez its hard work and my body really aches! Thank goodness we never need to use that hoist again!!
  10. she floats!! No leaks no problems. She will need some ballast but thats to be expected! [emoji568]
  11. I did think that... OK .. Photo competition.. Best one gets their pic added
  12. Hi Mark, That sounds normal, You don't need full revs in reverse as the prop is only efficient up to a point, after that it's pointless plus you will generally only need to go very slow in reverse. Don't worry also if you notice when you are running it and it doesn't accelerate above 45degress in forward as the linkage on the engine doesn't have that much travel. Hope that helps.
  13. Thanks David.. Interesting.. Sorry is was me that implied the blacklisting not yourself (probably not the best choice of words but I'm never any good at things like that!) I think as I mentioned above, this change does make sense as googles job (which it does very well) is to provide relevant results on its search engine, so if you are a user searching on a mobile app it probably is correct to return sites optimised for a mobile device above non sites. I'm not sure what your sector your business is in but I doubt there's many optimised websites in your sector to worry about at present.. I suspect though this may lead to a push in responsive sites though so you maybe right to worry but this will take some time. Although I do feel this only one of the many many many things google look for so don't worry too much. Again very interesting and thanks for sharing..
  14. until

Robin is this a "Watch this space.. Blog to follow?" Fingers crossed
  15. Hi David, I've not heard of this, it's sounds to be like scare mongering by bloggers. I've googled (no pun intended ) and I can't find anything other than on blogging websites. As responsive sites are still not really mainstream I would be very very surprised if google would punish a site. Google in the past have actually tried to be helpful to developers as it's in their (googles) interest for us to make their life easier. (Most SEO techniques are publicly available but they do change as people get more crafty!). It wouldn't surprise me if it was to rank responsive sites above non responsive sites on a mobile search (as it should because the site is perhaps a better match for that device) but I'm sure it will still look at the usual things to see if the site was more relevant to the search criteria. So I doubt they would hide/blacklist a non responsive website just for that reason.. no more than it would show a completely unrelated website above yours if yours had a better overall match. So if your website is in a small sector (/small grouping of keywords) and it's not a responsive website I'm sure you would notice no problems in your rankings. Have you got any further details from google as I would be very interested to learn more
  16. I think all these guides are brilliant and as above the more the better! I do think it's shame Richardsons have seen the need to do this as I believe it's something the tourist agencies should be doing nut it's brilliant they are being done! (Keep them coming Clive!). I'm not concerned about the title but as I've mentioned I still don't get the National Park discussion
  17. I just registered the boat with the BA and being cheeky I asked for a nice registration number.. We came out with 234Y which isn't bad I asked for A1 but he said no chance! (I think one of the patrol boats are this anyway).
  18. Cool thanks Steve, Thanks for talking to Mark! That's good news though:) The centre pontoon is the one with the security gate ? so the boat will be nice and secure!! Have a god two weeks up there! the weather looks like it's going to be good post some pics up here though to let us all know how you get on!
  19. Lol good point Iain.. I do admire norfolk time although I hope they don't forget and give the mooring to someone else!!
  20. Steve.. 5 weeks hopefully. I've not heard back from the marina office after calling them last week but I've emailed them.. are they a bit slow? Aww Grace thats lovely! Thank you you are very talented to come up with that and we are very touched The invite is always there just dont be too disappointed when you see her in the flesh
  21. Thanks Chaps we are very relieved I just measured the boat and did the maths (My head hurts).. £272.08 for a years tax..thats alot! Compared to medway ports here at £55 a year!! (and we get the dinghies for free!)..Daves over there working on the sterndrive to get it ready for the weekend No Pink fenders Iain.. Mum will probably nick them if anyone puts them on too (hopefully!).
  22. Thanks guys.. Not sure silver was the word.. to get to BSC standard has cost a fortune has been a lot more work than I expected. Even our surveyor has been surprised how fidderly things got but at least it's sorted.. Need to work out to fill in this BA toll registration.. need a degree in maths!!
  23. She just passed her BSS exam (albeit second time).. We still failed on the lower ventilation calculation but only by 1000 thingies and we can fix that by increasing one vent size which we will do at some point .. although we are way above on the upper calculation (and the doors/hatches will be open when we are aboard so I'm not concerned at all .. Next stop float test on saturday!
  24. Hi Griff, Try these https://www.howetools.co.uk/amshopby/index/index/?tool_type=374.. You may be able to find a body only deal which matches your other cordless tools so makes replacing the batteries when they do give up that little bit more sensible. Prices are pretty much trade prices anyway. Good luck.
  25. Iain.. fingers crossed.. I'll be happy when tomorrow (and the weekend is over! (or not!) ).. I used to work for BICC cables (first job) and i've heard that expression before.. is it a good read lol
