  1. Thanks Alan.. I will grab some of this. Four weeks today!!!
  2. Lol Iain! Is it going to be Castrol oil 5x40w next? no!! Although the chandlers seem to be selling linseed oil too... Thanks Alan, that looks lovely. I'm I right in thinking Danish oil is more like a polish/varnish than an oil? The swimdeck just needs protecting from the water really and I really don't want to have to varnish it every 5 mins! I also don't mind it not looking too pretty as long as the lasts a couple of years.
  3. lol Iain Thanks Andy, Do I need to rub it down each year? or can I just apply over the top? (I've only ever used oils once!). Thank's for the warning to, that sounds a bit scary!
  4. Steve/Debs.. Knowing me I will probably get it on everything else except the bit of wood!!
  5. Hi JR, in your reply box you should see an icon of two chains joined together with a little green plus icon (just beside the number list) if you click that it should give you a few more options.. Try this
  6. Hi All, I need to oil the swimdeck and I'm not paying for marine grade products! (Toolstation special!), but what should I use; teak or Danish oil? It seems Danish oil is internal only? Any tips, The would is Balau if that means anything lol!
  7. She looks really good Steve. Well done Mate
  8. I think I need to remove that word from the list.. I don't think its a word to be filtered. Jonzo If you disagree shout back and I'll reapply it As far as I know the software comes with these preset, I notice some others which probably should be in there which aren't.. so it's a bit random! Lol.. I can't do it from work as the maintenance screen is blocked for bad language!! I'll take a look later.
  9. We have only ever hired a dayboat (in wroxham) from Fineways as their base looks very neat and tidy and as do the boats... Good luck to all involved. I'm sure we will grab a day boat from them sometime this year.
  10. That's a kind offer from Andy. As a side, Don't forget to check the dates on the automatic cartridges before the season starts too. I checked mine a couple of weeks ago and were horrified to notice one expired in 2011 and the other had just expired (and I thought I had recently serviced them... more money!), the bottles where, as usual lose too.
  11. and I've seen the boat moored up and it looks just like it does in the brochure! Clive Richardson is a member on the forum so hopefully he can give you some more information/pictures. Have a brilliant time and share your time on the forum for us all to see
  12. I think he means the water tank. Dad try this: http://www.aquatabs.com/marine-airline-safe-drinking-water/water-disinfectant-tablets.html Brian wards probably do similar. Personally though I wouldn't bother as the hoses are never sterile so you can never 100% say that water in the tank is safe to drink.
  13. I think he agrees and means to say "go on"... Iain.. Please can you remember that this forum represents the Norfolk broads which is in England ( ) and not Scotland.. Please can you talky the english when using this forum. (Do you think that will help Grace?).
  14. It should also read.. the boat was also confiscated and Mr howell was banned from any inland waterways.
  15. Geez I don't shave when I'm on the boat let alone worry about my hair! There must be a local need for a hairdressers as I doubt there will be much need for one as discussed! Whilst I do agree Potter is a bit barren when you think about it and it could do with a few more attractions.. I love the idea of a wroxham barns type thing! I think the whole joy of the broads is that it feels a bit rural and along way from the normal high streets. Lathams when it wasn't QD stores was a bit better and there was some good bits stocked, even crafty bits. Personally I hate seeing the Tesco in Stalham and Beccles and I dont think these should be in these market towns (I've never been into the stalham one.. I admit I've been into the beccles ones a couple of times but usually when everything else is shut). I think it would seriously put me off the place if some well known brands started popping up in potter. Norwich, Yarmouth (even Wroxham) I don't mind but not potter.. I seriously hope we don't see these places if they do then they better sort that bridge out so I can drive past!

  20. It was a good show, although it's very sad the way it's presented so it's a bit tough to watch. I must admit too I don't quite see the point in narrowboating!; The helm is outside so surely a nightmare when it rains (The same as a tiller on a sailing boat, it's nice on a dry day but nasty on a normal day!). Plus there's a foot path right beside you so you could walk it (quicker) than on a boat so surely you can't actually get away from people which you can on the broads and alike. Maybe one day I'll try it although probably on a cruiser!
  21. John do you happen to have an offer on at the moment for antifouling?
  22. Isn't there a coffee shop in potter already? in the old lathams fishing shop? Is the place really big enough for two? I'd say it needs a good restaurant if anything.
