  1. Sealsdirect are pretty good. We've used them a few times. Here's some more links: http://www.thenorfolkbroads.net/forum/forum/203-boat-window-repairs/ We have used Hadlow marine quite a bit and recommend although he's down here in Kent, as with VC's recommendation he can do the work for you. If it's an alloy frame though, the frame will really need to come out and be resealed (you can do a temporary fix using bathroom sealant although it won't last long - you could also try Creeping crack sealant http://www.marinescene.co.uk/product/2220/captain-tolleys-creeping-crack-cure if the frame is leaking via the window you will need to unscrew the frame and use silkaflex to rebed the window to the frame.. But don't use to rebed the frame to the fibreglass use Abromast BR (it's non setting and allows the flex as just lasts longer) http://www.dortechdirect.co.uk/window-installer-tools/Arbo-Mast-BR.html. it's not a difficult job to remove the window but you will want a dry day and lots of patience. Good luck
  2. Sorry Ian are they alloy or rubber frames? And does it look like its leaking via the glass or frame (if alloy)
  3. Hi Ian, and to the forum! I guess a bounty 27 is similar to my boat. Are the windows leaking the ones that slide open? Or drop down? or are they non opening? Reply back and I'll advise with what the best thing to do is .. Don't worry though you will be able to stop the leak Alan

Hylander, taptalk seems to be working ok... perhaps try again I must admit it took me some time to get into it but it can be helpful if you are on the move (i.e afloat) and want to keep tabs on the forum. I'm only had it on my phone for a bit and I remember it wasn't entirely logical but once logged in I find it similar to the forum. We probably need a little user guide written to help access the forum using taptalk but I'm a bit "snowed" under at present to write this. Pm though if you are stuck and I'll try and assist further. Slightly back on topic.. The "arctic storm" hit london (daily mails words) today and I'm surprised I managed to get a little way around the m25 without too much trouble?! it's nice to see a bit of snow though.. just hope its all gone for the weekend as I don't want it to get in the way of our project.

Yes you should be able to. Just open your internet browser on your phone. Go to the forum (http://www.thenorfolkbroads.net/) and you should be prompted to download the app Taptalk.. More details here: https://tapatalk.com/
  6. Looks good frank.. Please post more
  7. Holy ...... I can see why Clive has his own... Geez
  8. Good news, Dave worked out the alternator connections and refitted the alternator and thankfully the panel and alternator are both fine and working!! We revved the engine up and its ok, Dave said it has a of air in the system as its not responding perfectly and he wants to adjust the tappets. It was starting on the key though after first click But it's the strangest feeling hearing the engine going and feeling the movements through the hull, we've clearly spent alot of time on the boat so we get used to the boat just being a plastic box.. but by having the engine running really brings the boat to life and starts to feel like something other than a shed, it's a very magical thing and I don't think you can fully get me unless you've done a project like this (hopefully you guys can understand if you followed it). It's a shame we have to switch it off though and carry on with the other bits.. I really want to go play now!! Although it was on for 20 mins (and it warmed up ok) so the engine hours on the taco now read that (it's nice to see zero hours on the clock!). Also we Finished the diesel heater, we have put it in as so it draws the air from outside (although we went for the wheelhouse) instead of recirculate which should just help to bring in some fresh(ish) norfolk air. Rather alarmingly on the first click of the switch it did nothing so after scratching some heads , dave noticed the top plug wasn't all the way in , so take 2 we get some lights and the sound of a fan, although no heat.. hmm.. Error code: 1 (no fuel).. It's self priming though so third attempt and it fired up! We left on for a bit and tried out the thermostate and it's all good (although it won't be used until Tom at JPC just looks over it for us when we get up there, just to make sure its all good.. Seems it though..) Finally, we tried the gas system and yup there's a leak somewhere so dave will need to return to that when there's daylight. But it's a very simple system with only a couple of connectors and all hosing visible (and a bubble tester too) so it will be something silly. Not a bad day.. I did take a video of the engine running but I'll try and work out how to share.. if it came out.. Next weeks instalments: - I'm going to order the foam for inside so we will get that cut to shape then sent off to Daves poor mum who has volunteered to make them (she's doing a good job with the curtains). - Get the table made up. - Hopefully get the gas system sorted. - Do a mock BSS and make sure everything is arranged for that (I need to waste a few quid on some pointless stickers )

I think they are coming from the TapTalk app on a mobile phone.. If you visit the forum on a smart phone it will prompt to use that app (It's a good little app worth a look).

Mum, Give graham a call and get them batteries sorted, you can't leave it all winter with no bilge pumps. Round the corner from Martin we had a nice 3 mins of snow flakes thankfully but nothing more! although its painfully cold
  11. Sorry Guys, We had a boat load of visitors this evening so I quickly wrote that when no one was looking! And I am a bit annoyed that the alternators not working, although we googled and it looks like Dave didn't connect the panel correctly (it shouldn't have damaged it) so we will try again tomorrow. It is great Iain! There's lots of little jobs left but I it's nothing compared to what we have done so far and I don't see many weekends left.. I so can't wait to have my weekends back! Neil that sounds brilliant, we could still do with a little bit of carpet, although I'd ideally like to have a carpet which we can remove for the winter (That teak flooring although is nice it's ice cold at the moment). We will also use on the other boat to, so if its up for grabs we will certainly give it a good home.. Ok better updates tomorrow
  12. WARNING: This post may contain the "F" word.. Today we; Finished the gas system. (we are going to test it tomorrow) Finished the electrics. (Dave tested most of it but I want to run round and test it all tomorrow) Finished the bilge pumps. Finished diesel system (installed the second fuel filter) and test fired the engine.. It's nice to hear it running again. Unfortunately the rev counter still isn't working but dave took the alternator off and noticed there's more plugs than on the wiring diagram so google time.. hopefully it's just incorrect wiring. The water systems (fresh and loo) are also in, we don't really want to test this as it's too cold really but it should all work. We had Dave's mum over and she played around a bit more with the curtains, she's also taken patterns so she can finish off at home. I also had my boss from work visit and seemed impressed. Tomorrow try the engine again. I want to measure up for the foam and get that ordered so we can get on with covering those (We are going to cover ourselves for now). We are also going to collect some fire extinguishers (I need to order some labels) then I can get the BSC sorted (Probably a couple of weeks now). No pictures but there's not much to show really with these bits..

  14. Shows how much I know. I've updated my original wording
  15. Geez you scots are soo healthy! (But that sounds nice though!!)
  16. (Sourced from NBF) Very important read for everyone: http://www.maib.gov.uk/cms_resources.cfm?file=/MAIBInvReport_2_2015.pdf In Brief, 2 deaths caused by carbon monoxide poisoning from by a poorly installed generator which wasn't intended for the purpose and no CO detectors. So lives could have been saved for a matter of £25 (http://www.screwfix.com/p/fireangel-co-9d-7-year-digital-co-alarm) Although the BSC on the broads would have reduced this from happening, it's still a tale to learn from and ensure we at least have CO detectors.
  17. Hi Sarah, Apologies again if the posts on here caused any upset as others have mentioned we are normally a nice thoughtful bunch. At least you have set the facts straight! I remember seeing Adrian at salhouse for the first time and thinking that's a brilliant Idea and seriously we can't resist now! I do wish you all the best with the sale although it's good to hear you will be back if you are unfortunate to not sell.. possibly this year we will finally catch you, but fingers crossed for you Have you got a period when you are generally out and about? (we must spend more time down south this year and enjoy mooring in surlingham broad) Also did you take note of the "Drinks" suggestions.. wherry.. Adnams.. Humpty dumpty.. any will do
  18. Geez Iain did you really eat all of that? that's one meal!!
  19. The drip tray did come out of the mould and looks good. Dave neatened up the edges and installed it so thats one big job done. We also installed the alloy countertop edging trim thing, silicone the alloy surround and permanently installed the cooker. Dave run and connected up the gas pipe for the cooker. It just needs a hose tail for the gas hose, he also installed the hose to the gas bottle. We also connected up the 12v socket in the kitchen. So the kitchen it pretty much finished now, it just needs the doors and a drawer (Which aren't cheap!). Finally we started making up the final trimming for the bunk sides to the table can go down to form the dinette berth. Doesn't sound much but it was a long day.. No pictures either because it doesn't look like much. Next weekend we will try and get all the systems finished and tested.. (Maybe if there's time make the table).
  20. In the week Dave installed the second fuel filter (with water separator) in the engine bay following recommendation of the surveyor, (thankfully we had one in the shed so it cost nothing). I glued the backing material on the back of the bathroom door. Today was a good day, we had Daves mum with us (she hadn't seen the boat since the summer so she was a bit shocked!), anyway so she came down with a sowing machine to make start on the curtains, she wasn't able to stay all day but still done well and made up curtains for one of the larger windows and noticed we would run out of material anyway so we have to grab some more. Also today, I got the curtain track installed (We went for the plastic one as suggested) and it looks good, it hardly notices. I had some spare for a shower curtain and put the trimming on the bathroom door.. It came up good. We screwed the door on today and unfortunately the bathroom wall isn't quite square so it's not perfect but it still functions and looks ok.. there's not much we can do really. Dave also moulded up a drip tray out of grp for the engine and BSC, he wanted to play and mould it up so we will take out the mould tomorrow and see how it got on.. it's only for a drip tray so can't go too wrong (I'm not quite sure why he didn't just glass around timber but at least its done. He also cut and installed the alloy sheet I ordered in for the cooker surround (he managed to use a tick stick for the first time and it came out ok). I'll get some pics tomorrow
  21. Lol i like it Iain, it's just that!
  22. Hmm lol. The surveyor currently valued at £10k although expects £15-£18k when finished. I expect the insurance to be around £250 though which is roughly what n&g came back with. How much is your premium?
  23. Thanks chaps. I'll give yachtsmaster a call and see what they offer. I'm not comfortable staying with this policy although its a but more than £1 per 1000 so it maybe right.
