  1. Geez you have got me thinking now how I can put shark teeth on the poxy dinghy!! grr lol I'll probably get some pics of my parents boat this weekend lol it is nice to sunbathe on.. I must admit although Orca's hardtop is good for the "typical british summertime" its a shame for the nice day in june (or april gone).
  2. (Lifejackets should be worn at all times whilst the vessel is in motion and certainly if it's sinking.. If there's not enough onboard then that's not right and someone should get a slapped wrist at least)
  3. and aboard John and co! Hopefully see you one day on the River (in erm 44 hours.. we will be moored at Somerleyton (hopefully!).
  4. Perhaps if its happening often the police could/should put some hidden cameras?
  5. Lol i do like the idea of the shark teeth on the front! I dread to think what people will think though! Grace, erm geez free holiday.. I'll have to watch how you drive a hire boat first! You could try my parents too.. They have a nice dual steer boat so you can sit up top and sunbath (and more space for shoes lol)
  6. Lol Maybe we need a countdown timer app on the forum! (there's an idea!). Thanks Grace... i'm feeling confident now but certainly can't wait for Saturday evening when it's all over, the dust has settled and it hits us that we are actually in norfolk! (or is that suffolk grr lol). I'm going to dig out my camera so I promise I'll get tons of Pictures and the first few posts on the "Adventures of Orca" may even be almost Live!.. (I think we are at 46 hours now lol)
  7. Such a shame to read these.. It's not what you expect from lovely norfolk.. Lets hope these perpetrators get unstuck and get caught.. Maybe Jon (and Mrs Broadscot) need to start doing security patrols Keep us updated though and to the forum from me too
  8. Hi Alan, I'm enjoying the read.. It certainly sounds like you are having a relaxing enjoyable time! Shame the weathers cooled down though.. I bet it was lovely up there earlier in the week! Be aware my mum and dad are up tomorrow although they will be the other end so you probably will be safe enough! Enjoy the rest of your trip.
  9. Thank you for the kind words Griff. We will certainly try and keep her maintained, it will be a bit harder now she's not in the back garden lol but it just means more time in norfolk I guess which just sucks : lol, the want list is already starting to grow.. I think a anchor winch will be top of the list! Good luck with your recent bits too I'm watching with interest! Looking forward to finally catching you one day as I've not seen B.A yet
  10. Shame you've had to go up if we get up there early we will try run round and give you a hand. The ciggy lighter is probably just a fuse (if it's damaged I think I've got spares on board) and the water may just need the hose clip tightening or a new one, worst one maybe a new bit of hose. I'm not sure if we will follow the lorry all the way though, I'll text you when we are getting close (Oh watch out my parents will be about that day too.. ). 48 hours to go!!
  11. Hi Steve, The lorry will arrive (I spoke to the drive this evening) here at 7am, It should only take 30 mins or so to load up and start the 3-4 hour drive up! So arriving into somerleyton for about 11 - 12. Are you going up this weekend?
  12. Lol I'm not quite sure excited is the word.. Stressing is probably more like it. I'm just waiting to hear back from the transport company that they are all set (although they should be). As Iain said I just hope saturday comes along quickly and smoothly! (although at least we are paying professionals to move it), then fingers crossed all the running gears behaves that weekend.. I need a beach holiday I think!
  13. Ok Guys. I've registered Jaws with the Broads authority. First price to Grace (Another beer/wine when we eventually catch up!). Some good ideas though. I liked the "Nipper"/"Pirana" ones lol but Jaws is probably fitting! I'll have to get some yellow barrels when Jaws is being towed behind.. geez this is getting so tacky!
  14. I'm liking the replies though guys! I admit in a blond way lol I didn't know the Shark was called Jaws So Jaws I think it's first but if anyone has a funnier one let us know! That's strange Strowager.. I'm with Craftinsure and they have asked for this but included it free of charge on the main policy (They've also asked for the series numbers of the outboard and instructed that anti-thief devices are fitted.) I guess you may have insured yours separately. I don't mind putting stickers on it really as it's been sitting in storage for some years and it's an excuse to use it .
  15. Ok so I give up and I'll register the dinghy on the BA.. I've checked with my insurance company and even for third party insurance they want me to put poxy "T/T Orca "stickers on it so it will now be used with Orca. Whilst I'm putting stickers on it we may as well give it an informal name... So here goes please help me name the dinghy! Don't forget Orca is named after the boat from the Jaws film (Dave did it.. it was either that or Arrabella from a poxy black and white film about a pier?!). So it will be good to have a Jaws/Shark/Fish theme here: First ones which jump to mind are: Sharky Bruce (From wiki Bruce was the name given by the film crew for the mechanical shark used during filming, but I'm not sure many people will get this). Over to you guys.
  16. Just to say it does look like this video has been deleted
  17. Andy, I could do with a spare (Just in case?!!) certainly for that money. Very kind .. Although I'll let Frank have first looks!.. We should be passing your way sometime in May, if I can stop off and take a look and grab one if that's possible?
  18. If I was you Frank, as you are coming out and as you are changing the ballcock, I'd replace the skin fitting too just for peace of mind (We've always used a scoop type skinfitting) .. the skin fitting you have is probably ok but that's just me (and replace with Bronze or DZR).. I wouldn't rely on just the grated scoop; You can fit a "Norfolk reed filter" type filter (as seen on most hireboats) to the ballcock or a plastic inline one somewhere to hand. I'd suspect that if you don't have a separate filter as you say you run more of a risk of reeds going up and getting caught up in the impeller at best reducing the life of the impeller at worst probably jamming it up etc) I'm just guessing though (and we have fitted a bronze scoop, bronze ballvalve, norfolk type filter). Hopefully others can advise to assist.
  19. I think we need a emot for the pesky mod... I'll have a look! Anyways Geoff.. 2 a half days for you isn't it now? Neil.. I think we will have had over a week aboard Orca by the time you get up there! lol
  20. Thanks Guys! (Dad My steering is never Zig zagging.. Unless I'm reaching for my beer... (Disclaimer: Any Beer looking substance seen through the wheelhouse windows whilst the boat is in motion is erm apple juice.. yup apple juice.. shandy at worst..). Everything's is all set.. Although I'm just waiting for the toll plaques which some cocky supplier said would take a week (and the pesky toll!). The new propeller fits! She's all loaded and waiting.. So let's do a final countdown!! 4 days to go!!
  21. I'm in work and can't look right now (Youtube is blocked lol).. I'll look later and see if I can work out the link.. maybe the video has been deleted.
  22. Glad to have helped Bonzo, we brought Orca's waste hoses from them and do highly recommend them.
  23. Looks prettier than Ranworth.... (and you can get a mooring! ) ....
