  1. where is the fun in that, OK we have the boat name in vinyl, from the same supplier that Griff gets them done for BA, so thats fine, the problem is size, if it were bigger I would think about vinyl, but its just that awkward size.
  2. for the solar panels i will see which closest matches the ones installed on BA once Griff sends me some pictures
  3. so a delivery (or two) arrived this morning in the post, some flexible solar panels and a narrow (1mm) Chrome Pen I have had the idea that i can use this 1mm pen to do the lettering on the cabin sides, rather than trying to cut it from stainless steel, this will mean doing a few practice runs to get the font correct
  4. we did that years back with a tiny plant that was full of tiny red chillies, we dried and ground them, the tiniest amount on the tip of a teaspoon in a chilli made it very hot we did grind it seeds and all., but the chillies were only about 1cm long, the little bush was in a small flower pot and had about 30 of them.
  5. gov.uk page says between 30th March and 31st July will be extended 6 months
  6. I think the big issue with the flour was the shutdown of the factories making the bags, as flour was available all through for the bakeries, and my parents went halves on a 16Kg sack of flour from a local mill with a neighbour who went and picked it up, my local asda were rebagging 1kg batches in custard doughnut bags and plastic bags to keep stock on the shelves, there was never a shortage of bread.
  7. round my waythere is bread flour, but just white mainly, brown and wholemeal seem non existent, and tins of Yeast is the other problem, though my parents who make bread every other day caught a windfall when i spotted some in asda, and got them a couple of tins, plus the 3 tins I had that had just gone out of date. Personally I call in at sainsburys bakery and ask and buy fresh yeast mostly when I make bread.
  8. or slip of the finger, they are next to each other on the keyboard.
  9. I have pm'd a link to the video to you Vaughan
  10. While its not a legal requirement in the UK, Staffies are among the breeds that are recommended to be muzzled when out in public, unfortunately for Miles in this instance the Staffie was not in public, but aboard the owners boat.
  11. As it happens Miles Weston used to be a forum member but was banned way back he has however contacted the team and asked that the following be posted as he can read the forum as a guest.
  12. if you are at Marthams they have a very accurate height gauge for the bridge on their slipway, you will notice that this is what they check before driving to the bride to get one of their boats under, they tell you you need 6 foot 2 on most of their boats, but i have been taken through with 5'10" showing at the bridge.
  13. let me guess he didnt hoover out the broken glass from inside the door properly.
  14. and the videos. the first step is taking the 3/8" brass rod with a 4mm hole drilled through, and squaring off the ends and then cutting the narrow section down to 5.5mm , then parting off and tidying the part up. putting an internal 4BA thread into a 4mm dia brass tube, this thread is for fixing down the mast through the roof and is also the ferrule at the bottom of the wooden mast section. a lot of blank in the next one as i tidy up the thread just out of shot working on the wooden mast part next we shorten the 4BA screw and tidy up the end of the thread. Here we make the tapered washer to go under the roof, this enables the screw to snug up nicely.
  15. No more than BA does. as it turned out when i calculated (guessed) the 5 degree rake i was wrong as the roof slopes forward by 5 degrees, so i have remade the step and washer to 10 degrees rake, not the final positioning as i have yet to study Griffs pictures properly.
  16. I have just spent a happy morning on the lathe, creating the foremast, first the step was bored out to accept a 4mm brass tube, then shaped, then the 4mm tube was internally threaded to take a 4BA bolt. then the wooden section was created, a square topping block was glued to the 4mm beech dowel, then mounted on the lathe, this was then turned to shape and the base end turned down and threaded to fit into the tube, a 4ba screw was then cut down to length for fixing. the step was then taken to the sander to put a 5 degree slope across the bottom, a matching washer was also turned and sanded all that is needed now is to drill the roof and fit this
  17. Just a thought Griff, does your MOT fall under those granted an extension under Covid 19, if so that will give you additional time to get it done.
  18. It would be impossible to post under the badge or not as that just indicates which member group you belong to and stays fixed
  19. I am sorry been busy today so i have only just got round to re-editing the title back to its original, unfortunately we cannot determine who changed it and no-one has owned up to it, so you will just have to accept my apology Poppy, it was obviously done because someone thought you liked a good joke (probably due to your signature line).
  20. Marthams should have their cleaning routine for my boat down to a tee as they have been renting it out as a day boat while they couldnt hire it out normally, so they should by now have a good cleaning routine on it.
  21. my aunt used to breed staffys, even had a crufts champion, they were the stupidest dogs you ever saw, her mum next door had one of them and one evening her husband popped round and didnt turn on the light when he went in. once he had dragged himself and the dog to the light switch and turned it on the dog let him go and looked most apologetic, they guard their humans very well, maybe the dog thought Miles was threatening his human.
  22. except for martham boats, they can only be taken through potter by their staff, all other bridges can be navigated by the hirer as long as there is about 6 ft 2"
  23. no, the millionths come from working, or at least from moderating the forum whilst i should be working.
