  1. We're at the Bell Inn, might try a turn round!
  2. Never had a boat as noisy as this before! Is it normal to have a slapping/banging noise on the bow in windy conditions? Are we moored the wrong way maybe?
  3. We're here at the moment and it's not too bad, no problem mooring tonight.
  4. Just a quick follow up. I phoned YYS today and they agreed that Sunday crossing is fine and coming back Thursday is no problem we might even be able to cross early enough to get to Stracey Arms, super helpful guy on the phone too!
  5. I couldn't agree more this is a fabulous forum. I pop in and out, read much more than I ever post and ask the odd stupid question and have always been treated with much kindness and received lots of help. Thanks everyone
  6. Don't forget about us 30 somethings with no kids and money to spend! Totally agree with you there is a market for amazing 2 berth boats!

    Dog Poo Bags

We get this at home. They pick the poo up and then leave it in our garden or on the pavement, drives me mad. I too am a dog owner and I put mine in the bin.
  8. Everyone needs a pair of converse, the brighter the better! Good choice
  9. Rose Emblem which we hired a few years ago had an areal on a pole you had to lift up to get a signal, worked quite well tbh. I like a bit of junk tv in a morning with my coffee before the world gets up, something I never get the chance to do at home!
  10. Its thanks to people like you that we got moored up at all during our very first holiday on the broads. We were just about to run away from Neatishead when a very kind couple shouted out they would help us, we were so very grateful to them. We still love to be offered a hand, gives us a chance for a little chat too!
  11. Fingers crossed its ok, will let you know! Oooo I like the look of Zircon, we might have our little dog with us next year so that might change the type of boats we can hire.
  12. Off on Whisper from Ferry Marina in just over a week. Not much on the old tinterweb about her. Wondered if anyone had any stories, helpful tips etc for us? First time on an electric boat for us!
  13. I know what you mean about Yarmouth but it's the only option if we take Thursday. We do usually try to avoid it where we can! Oh no, this is why I'm considering the Thursday late crossing, to be sure of getting back, you might have just made my mind up! We will have to go early because of sunset times but yes I think I am convinced that Thursday is the way to go. I'm going to give the yacht station a call for advice but I think mind is made up for Thursday now. Thank you so much to everyone for all your help, I really appreciate it.
  14. Yep I think this is going to be my plan of attack, thanks so much! What leave the South that I love to go to the crowded North?
  15. No offence taken, all advic gratefully received. Yes that's a good idea, do you know how far ahead can you usually ring them for advice?
  16. Ok thanks, that might actually work for us, will have another look at the tables thank you. Thanks also for the heads up re the Berney Arms free moorings! Yes you are correct with the dates. I am using them from here http://www.norfolk-broads.org/tides/tide_report.asp and trust me I have no intention of breaking any navigation byelaws hence the planning I am putting into crossing now.
  17. Thanks Polly. That was my worry too. Its the first year we have been where its a bit tight for getting back and i'm just imagining bad weather on the Friday and having to tell the boatyard we are stuck! Think we might aim for Berney Arms Thursday night and leave our options open.
  18. Hi We are back on the broads this year, collect our boat on 30th September, our boat has an 8' 3" air draft. The times for going south look good we are thinking Sunday at 14.23 but coming back they are not so good and I could use some advice please. Friday seems the most obvious at 5.56am but what if we can't cross and get stuck for getting the boat back. Do we chance Thursday where crossing time is 17.39 and sunset is 17.23 so we would have to go early? Help what would you do?
  19. I have an old sat nav, so maybe that will do the job, and save battery life!
  20. Brilliant, thanks everyone I didn't realise there were so many options! Will check them all out and let you know what I settle on.
  21. Hi! Just a quick one, we are back on the broads soon for our second time The one thing I we struggled with last time was getting the speed right, do any of you use speed apps and if so could you recommend one for apple please? Thanks so much!
  22. Good for you, what fab parents Charlie has got If we see you during our week we will certainly be over for a chat and cheeky smile! x
  23. We hired from ferry marina this year and they were great and the boat although old was in a fantastic condition. Also ferry marinas price is what you pay including diesel so we did miles and it didn't cost us any extra.
  24. We have 4 weeks abroad every year (I am including camping trips to France in this so don't think too posh) apart from this year where one was spent on the broads, we have already booked a week for next year on the broads again, such an impression it made on us! So yes if money was no object we would still come to the broads
  25. I can't seem to post pics from my laptop hmmm will have another look when I'm more awake! I also wanted to say thanks for all your kind comments Ps David it might be less brave and more stupid lol
